    Hahaha......seemed like Phu was talking about me when I started the whole journey for my son's BMX bike. Bought online, had Phu fix it, later find out it was wrong geometry for him, Phu built a whole custom bike for him.......now he shreds better than ever lol. Get cool with your local bike shop.....Phu isn't kidding when he says you'll probably break your bike when you don't know what you're doing lol.

    Great videos keep em coming, learning alot. Just got back into building and riding after almost 30 years. A lot has changed. I still enjoy building 90s bikes. But keeping my kids bikes dialed is

    I learned how to ride on 20 in. BMX when I was five, my father owned a restaurant & he said 2 teens went in ordered/ate and bailed w/o paying leaving the bike behind he thought it might be stolen but he brought it home & it was love at 1st sight for me. I would graze my little jewelry on the top tube but that didn't stop me I climbed it/crashed it and learned how to ride!

    Good information and breakdown of bike sizes here. I haven’t rode a bike on a long time and was looking to get back on one. I came into Epic BMX with a 29” in mind. Phu and the crew at Epic took their time to help me find the right bike. I love my 24”. It’s true what he said. It’s about getting the right size and learning to ride and just having fun. Thanks Phu and everyone and Epic BMX! You guys rule!

      How tall are you? I’m getting into bmx and planning on getting a Haro shredder pro 24. I’m 5’9 but the 20 feels so small to me even though my legs and arms aren’t too long.

    I'm 6'1" ride 20" and love it ! They can always be adjusted to fit in less your e 7' something. It's all on your style of riding, I've seen people my size cramped on a tiny 12" and skooling it! Just like nobbies are for dirt riding and slicks are for street.

    It is crazy that the demand is so much higher then the supply with bicycles right now. After market used prices are even really high. My wife bought my kid a used om-duro. I said why didn't we just spend a lil more for a new one. My kid laughed. He said their just aren't any new ones. They been gone. I looked em up & was shocked. They been gone bro along with anything similar. All pre-orders with non guaranteed shipping dates. Unreal. Even walmart bike racks are still empty.

    While everything you say here is true, there is also a subjective part of Bmx sizing. For example, me and my friend are both around 5’2 and we both ride completely different feeling bikes. Ive got JACKED bars, 4 spacers, top load stem, and 9.5” rise. He’s got 8.25” bars, a pretty low top load stem, and no spacers. To me, his bike feels totally alien, and he feels the same way about mine.

    In all fairness when it comes to the average parent to child their goal is not to dine $4-700 frequently. They probably have the mindset of oh he can just grow into it. Great information and I agree. They need to put 30.9mm and up seat posts on them the run more common dropper posts. Yea it’s bmx but they are also great commuters in tight spaces. Great video thank you.

    So what size should I get? I wanna buy a BMX for the first time. I have around €1000 to spend.
    I'm 28 years old, weigh 86kg and 193cm tall.
    That's 189.6lbs and 6"3.
    What frame size should I get? And do you suggest a Freecoaster or a Casette? I ride a normal bike everyday to work, never ride a BMX bike before.

    • @muifly4892
      @muifly4892 3 года назад +1

      Definitely a cassette as a beginner, much easier to learn on.
      You can def go for a bike with 22“ tires.
      If you go for 20“ tires, get at least a 21“ TT, at your size probably the longer the better.
      You should easily find decent complete bikes within your budget, no worries. Probably, you can keep some money on the side for possible upgrades like grips, pedals or pegs.
