Yeah, that’s just insane to say. They absolutely know more than the average player. There’s no reason to put top players in quotations, because they are. There literally isn’t any argument, they are the top players, because they’re the best, this is why leaderboards exist.
as per usual with hero shooters, every character that fulfills on paper a similar role as another hero gets immediately compared and then ranked often times far lower than they should because the vast majority of players only play them one way. case in point: iron fist has low damage/ therefore bad duelist, Wolverine has bad damage and escape therefore bad duelist, storm has bad damage AND is a sitting duck because she doesn't have iron man movement therefore bad duelist. Whats happening with each of these characters? well: Ironfist - stops playing like Black Panther - starts playing support dps/mini tank to bolster and secure kills - Way better good at specific role no other character can do Wolverine - stops playing like Majik - starts kidnapping tanks and being a tank buster and front-liner - Way better good at specific role no other character can do Storm - Stops playing like iron man - sticks close to the ground dealing damage to multiple enemies and applies permanent damage buff to front-liners and healers - Way better good at specific role no other character can do Sure they're not directly as impactful on the scoreboard as point and click adventure Hawkeye and Hela but when played in there roles as their kits are designed to fit they shift the battle more favorably to make those "top tier" heroes play better for less effort
100% agree. all of these chars have flaws and prominent counters but people aren't playing them to their full potential and it's affecting the way these chars are being discussed also i love how there is no cope here for black widow. i actually have no idea what that char is supposed to do its amazing how bad she is
Bro if you’re bad at aiming but really good at positioning and map awareness Iron Fist is a monster. As long as my team isn’t dog water I drop consistent 30-50 kill games with him. You can tell these people use him wrong and die immediately lol
this specific style of play is something I learned very quickly is kind of like the best way to play him. I kinda like to call the big Brother Strat as I’ve noticed sometimes it’s also good idea to just if your tank is diving. when other dualist are diving or one other thing I’ve noticed is he’s really good as a counter to dive characters when they try and go for your back line.
This is similar to how I played old Doomfist in OW1. I played him as a bodyguard for my healers. I could 1 shot Genji and Tracer, had enough mobility to take care of a Junkrat, and CC for everyone else. He was just more mobile and had lower CDs. I really hope we get someone like that in the game. Maybe Luke Cage or Jessica Jones as that CC heavy brawler
Playing as a mini vanguard for your other dive teammates is so genius ! Value in this game isnt abt ur character in a vacuum after all, it’s about what they can give to their team
Honestly i think he has more in common with Wolverine than people realize. People said "Wolverine is useless- oh wait no just kidnap tanks and suddenly he has a niche." Similar thing with Iron Fist, his niche is that he's really good at terrorizing squishies and forcing cooldowns. Imo they're both like mid tier, melee characters are just volatile by nature because of how susceptible they are to getting CC'd and bursted. Proper cooldown management is way more important on them

I’ll generally always say “if you have a problem in this game a majority of the time you’re not playing as Penni or aren’t properly teaming up with one” & ironically fist is the biggest example. If you have anything to dissuade him from jumping in he falls apart.
Not entirely. He has his kick which can displace enemies. So if can isolate peni and take her out then her mines disappear. I also use the kick to rwmove loki from his healing circle and decimate him. There's also his parry which can block ults and increase his health based on the amount of attacks he blocked. Hes essentially the middle ground between tank and duelists
Most of those top players run premade groups too. I’d like to see them playing against Ironfist in a solo quick play. As a CnD main I’m not afraid of Ironfist, until those rare ones come along that actually know his kit. He requires team coordination to deal with if the player is good and you won’t find that in QP. Even in high elo, if they have to turn and deal with the Ironfist in the back line, who’s dealing with the other 5 players.
if you can't find a 1v1 scenario I think I think iron fist works best in a 2v2 or like a pocket dive since iron fist thrives on people not looking at him
I have little to no interest in playing Iron Fist myself, I merely find it interesting to see how people do well on him in lobbies where the enemies aren't AI (aka low rank).
Playing as more of a side-vanguard with Iron Fist and Magik are my favorite playstyles with them. Iron First currently has the 15% damage bonus from season though and he's still a mid character imo. After the season ends I think he'll be weak.
Also great video, much prefer the editted gameplay with commentary, can always view a raw VOD in game. A lot of Ironfist seems to about mindset and role, good to hear your thoughts!
I just don't think GM is a good measure of performance in this game anymore. I'm seeing 4 dps, people going 6-18, arguments happening in all chat. You can main dps Dagger (not even with cloak), and climb to GM.

Like black widow for example the fear of her head shot or even one shot a character makes flanks in particular play behind more cover Iron fist the supports and Dps’s have to play more aware and watch out behind them Seriously don’t take these players advices play whoever you want and with time you’ll dominant all your games meta or not regardless.
Just take away that stupid self-heal that no other non-Strategist gets and he won’t be that bad. How in the hell the devs thought he needed both insane escape tools AND self-healing is something I’ll never understand.
