As another fairly high skill venom player, the best advice I can give is to save your swing as an escape rather than a tool used to engage. Wall climb into a position they won't expect, dive, tendril and auto them try to secure some kills, pop shield if low and THEN use your swing to get back to your healers. Rinse and repeat for success :)
As a fellow venom main, yes, I'd also add on, signal to healers when you're pushing, so they don't leave you stranded. And don't push when your team is getting flanked. No healer, equal dead venom, and we don't like a dead venom here
Venom main here: Alot of people are mistaken by his ult, it should be used as initiations or sustain. The damage it deals is 50% of an enemy's CURRENT health... not maximum...plus a flat 40 damage. And you heal for 100% of the damage dealt. So you can imagine ulting a monster hulk at 1500HP would give you. Or you can use it like he did when they were all bunched up, he ulted all of them together, so its a combined HP pool he stole from them.
Yea I think people just don’t understand how venom works. I main venom too. I don’t see anything impressive. He’s doing exactly what our kit is made to do. I don’t see anything unique. Even webbing the ground to close the distance is a regular thing
6:08 that's a cool tech i just found out from this video. Normally you cannot use Diving Strike if you just jump normally because it has a minimum height requirement to be used. But if you jump over a ledge, the game considers the new ground way below you as a valid height requirement and you can now use Diving Strike just by simply jumping. No wall climbing and no swinging required.

The problem with Venom is that he is HARD countered by HARD CC. Stun/Sleep etc at low HP will prevent his Symbiotic Resilience from proccing and he just dies.
yup. I played a ton of venom in the beginning but the better players just cc the shit out of him as soon as he procs shield. Mantis and Luna are like the top 2 supports too, so you're getting cc'd a lot

I wish his swing got a 2-3 sec cd reduction. As a wrecking ball player, it just feels unnatural as long as it is. I feel like he needs it too tho as sometimes at low hp you could be doing absolutely nothing; extra moility would be nice to swing between health packs.

You gotta swing onto a building and crawl while you wait for swing to come off cd to then use as disengage. 7/10 times you're facetanking on your feet. That's just bad gameplay and he's not that fun because of it. And then there's Spiderman who's in the air 90% of the time.
What I love about this Venom is that he’s not always using his swing for his dives. He uses the environment and has the swings on stand by for either another attack or a reset.
Nah fr though, I’ve seen bad players before and these guys were doing strats and plays I definitely don’t see in my lobbies in Silver 😂 excellent teamwork and pushes all the way through too. Even the enemy team was pulling out some tricky plays like with that Strange portal. Anyone else have that happen to them and I’m sure it’d be a massacre but that Venom played it perfectly. People don’t know how effective he was at Venom, when I play him I’m doing decent but not anything special, other teammates play him and they throw by diving alone
I’m guessing venom has the “automatic swing” setting just like spiderman, if you have it on you can’t use the webs like that to throw yourself forward or down
I watched top 5 playing venom yesterday, if anyone is interested look for Vinnie, he also plays Magneto and swaps between the 2 beautifully. Nice playstyle to watch, almost always starts on Venom for the disruption.
Venom’s ult is very situational. I use to get away every now and then if swing is on cooldown. It’s not killing anyone unless they’re below like 35-40% health.

Venom is a back-line harasser, literally after you're done harassing the backline; you go help out your team to finish the job. He's a fast pace tank, while his ult is definitely circumstantial; it's basically a finisher, a prepper for your dps to finish them off, a survival play, or lastly yet more importantly; a bait.

That dash mechanc - it's venom swing ability. you need to go to settings and change the mode from "auto" to "manual" (something like that) - with that, you manually aim where you want to swing from/to, including dashing on floors. 2.) Venom's ult in used to initiatie fights - you chop 50% of their health and get a health boost, your teammates then nuke them out. 3.) Use swing mostly to get out of fights - Climb the walls to position yourself for frenzied arrival, wreak havoc, use swing to get out of fights. If you go in with swing, you have no escape ability.
I think the main thing that sticks out with Solis's Venom (aside from his game sense and positioning) is his ability to consistently deal damage with no wasted seconds. Not only is he pressing melee in between his attacks, he's also pressing his attack button INBETWEEN his ability combo (ex. dive ability -> attack -> E ability -> attack -> ult). This venom for sure plays moba games

15:40 is even funnier watching it back because if you try to time how long Luna ult lasts, you can see they use the timing of Zen ult as a frame of reference. 1.5 seconds longer for Luna ult, so he slams too early and has to swing out. I would've done the same thing
That’s a major issues Hitbox for sure, but there’s a Maile attack and running up. The walls is borderline impossible when you’re in combat. Trying to reconfigure the control scheme to better suit. Also just throws everything else off.😊
I learned that after the dive he doesnt immediately pop his e, he uses that time to get some left clicks in since its easier to predict their movement in that falling state, and THEN he uses the E.

i think you should do a series on spectating top players for every character. very entertaining and i've learned alot not only from the player but your commentary
Venom ult does 50% damage to current hp. its an engage tool. you want to use it as an engage on as big of a group as possible to soften the enemies for your dps. if you are using it just to get kills on the backline you are wasting a lot of potential damage. big group ults or very rare cases of picking off the backline when the tank is already dead. always try to get the enemy tank in the hitbox if you can. Bonus tip: the game tells you exactly when you use your E. once you hear the low hp sound queue. learn to anticipate what damage you will be taking and you will only get better at the timing.
It's fucking wild to me that people keep saying his ult is bad. From his statements in this video I'm convinced he just have zero clue on how/when/why to us it. Sure the damage can setup kills, but it also makes you unable to take hits while under, it gives control from people trying to escape it AND it also provide Venom with a "Free" use of E in bonus health. This ult is makes him so annoying to deal with. It buys him time for CDs to come back and keep pressuring if hr needs to or you can use it simply for the CC and damage to setup kills. Very good!
now to add on to the damage as a venom main you can actually melee while you tendrel (almost like a cancel) so it does around the same damage as 2 tendrell attacks in one go
What we learned from this video: How to play Venom on offense? In and out, dive back line. On defense? Specially target Luna Snow and make her hate this game 😂
The amount of pressure he put on Luna to make her solo ult is crazy. She wasn't doing it for the team, she was doing it cuz she was scared xD. But yeah hes doing exactly what Venoms supposed to do. Dive healers and then stuff like Hela/Hawkeye and Bucky. Also theres no cooldown or reset on Venoms goo explosion dive thing. As long as you can get high enough, you can do it whenever. You need to be atleast like 1.2 jumps high so yea a single jump wont do it. If you leap off a brick or a garbage can than thats funnily high enough to make it work lol.
I thought the venom web zip was common knowledge. Same thing can be done with Moon Knight. Aim at any point on the floor ahead of you and it will launch you in a straight line, giving you a massive speed boost. Conversely, aim straight down at your feet and it will launch you straight up in the air, adding a little more maneuverability to your kit.
I feel happy knowing I play a lot like this venom, I feel some kind of vindication, I will say I learned a lot from this video I’m hoping to use it tn in comp
Solace is apparently a Wrecking Ball player in OW so this all checks out. Also a lot of the tech he's doing with the swing is only possible if you have the easy/smart swing (or something like that) off in the settings.
I can tell you as a support main, that Luna needed to switch. Luna is great for healing, but her survival is mid. You either hit your M2 and run, or you just fall over. Rocket and Loki both would've been better picks with good team-ups. Adam wouldn't have been a bad idea if he can aim. It's just a classic case of Plats thinking meta characters are their free W.
Big reason they won that second game is the fact that enemy team only had 1 defensive ult and venom essentially nullified it and made Luna have to spend the entire game fighting literal demons 😂

Yeah Venom needs a small buff and I think that'd be the buff he needs. A small CD reduction on his swing would do wonders.

If you have a cellular corrosion it stays active through his ult. Slam, cellular corrosion, ult, kills most squishies.

Yeah, if you’re playing venom you shouldn’t be randomly using your shield ability, you also gain more HP depending on how low you are

I love how this is playing Venom exactly like the horror movie monster that he is. He was truly stalking that Hawkeye and Luna.
Venom ult does 50% damage to current hp. its an engage tool. you want to use it as an engage on as big of a group as possible to soften the enemies for your dps. if you are using it just to get kills on the backline you are wasting a lot of potential damage. big group ults or very rare cases of picking off the backline when the tank is already dead. always try to get the enemy tank in the hitbox if you can.
Bonus tip: the game tells you exactly when you use your E. once you hear the low hp sound queue. learn to anticipate what damage you will be taking and you will only get better at the timing.
It's fucking wild to me that people keep saying his ult is bad. From his statements in this video I'm convinced he just have zero clue on how/when/why to us it. Sure the damage can setup kills, but it also makes you unable to take hits while under, it gives control from people trying to escape it AND it also provide Venom with a "Free" use of E in bonus health. This ult is makes him so annoying to deal with. It buys him time for CDs to come back and keep pressuring if hr needs to or you can use it simply for the CC and damage to setup kills. Very good!

now to add on to the damage as a venom main you can actually melee while you tendrel (almost like a cancel) so it does around the same damage as 2 tendrell attacks in one go

The amount of pressure he put on Luna to make her solo ult is crazy. She wasn't doing it for the team, she was doing it cuz she was scared xD. But yeah hes doing exactly what Venoms supposed to do. Dive healers and then stuff like Hela/Hawkeye and Bucky.
Also theres no cooldown or reset on Venoms goo explosion dive thing. As long as you can get high enough, you can do it whenever. You need to be atleast like 1.2 jumps high so yea a single jump wont do it. If you leap off a brick or a garbage can than thats funnily high enough to make it work lol.
I thought the venom web zip was common knowledge. Same thing can be done with Moon Knight. Aim at any point on the floor ahead of you and it will launch you in a straight line, giving you a massive speed boost. Conversely, aim straight down at your feet and it will launch you straight up in the air, adding a little more maneuverability to your kit.
Venom plays like Hammond from Overwatch. Jump in, disrupt, peace out.

Solace is apparently a Wrecking Ball player in OW so this all checks out. Also a lot of the tech he's doing with the swing is only possible if you have the easy/smart swing (or something like that) off in the settings.

I can tell you as a support main, that Luna needed to switch. Luna is great for healing, but her survival is mid. You either hit your M2 and run, or you just fall over. Rocket and Loki both would've been better picks with good team-ups. Adam wouldn't have been a bad idea if he can aim. It's just a classic case of Plats thinking meta characters are their free W.
Big reason they won that second game is the fact that enemy team only had 1 defensive ult and venom essentially nullified it and made Luna have to spend the entire game fighting literal demons 😂
