You should get the Controller Companion app from Steam. Then you could use the joysticks to control the curser and scroll the pages up and down. Super smooth. You can also set up all the controller buttons and switches. Like L1 and R1 as left and right mouse buttons.

just got this and i can get the keyboard to light up and rapidly blink for "connecting" but still no luck with 2nd gen Fire TV (microSD model) i dont even think the dongle would work in this situation. any tips?

got this thing and used it for a while, l2 and r2 are analogue (I was pleasantly surprised), all the controller functionality's there, need to get used to its shape, but you can use it pretty well as a secondary controller on the go. Also kind of weird that there's a full keyboard on the other side, but those keys are hard-to-push enough that you won't constantly click them while playing. D-pad is on the softer side, but works surprisingly well, just have enough movement and big enough that you won't accidentally hit other directions, overall it's worth the prise, if you need a small keyboard and controller time to time.

if you hold the front button down on the controller side it switches to android mode which may help with the nvidia shield issue
