Some great tips! loved the idea of pavers to keep the string trimmer off of the post and the light was a great touch. Replaced mine as a result, however built the post and box with cedar to go with other wooded projects around the house.
The correct and best way to do this is to put down the cement 5000 psi or so is good trace out a template of where the bolt anchors will be placed then lay the template over the cement and lay the bolts in leaving about 1 and a half out let the bolts cure into the cement then drop the box on top and put the nuts on tighten down
@@bobbygfl hey quick question....So to secure the mailbox to the base it doesn't come with the screws already? And the screws that fit in the base of the mailbox is 1/2 in ?
@@ernestreyes9147 the hole is 1/2” I think but I used 1/4” screws with a washer. That way I could get it perfectly straight then tighten them down. You determine the length depending on what you’re mounting it to. I used stainless but galvanized would work.
Excellent video! Watched this a few times and it helped me get ideas to install mine recently. Went with the black version and switched out the brass hardware to brushed as well. Can you provide a link to the 2” numbers? I love the look of those! Again, great video!
I got the same mailbox and I'm about to install it. I didn't notice in the video the measurements you dug for the hole. How deep into the ground did you go? What were the sides of the square you made? Great video for this box!
the hole i dug was about 12" deep and 20x20 wide. I should have used 4 bags of concrete. this is a total overkill by the way but very solid. and thanks!!
Thanks for the great video. This might be a stupid question, but is there any way to adjust the post to make sure it’s perfectly plumb if things happen to be off? Or is it completely dependent on the pavers/concrete being leveled first? i.e. I’m shit out of luck if the concrete isn’t perfectly flat and leveled?
Hi, I just purchased this mailbox based off of your video! I had been looking for a nice mailbox and your video explained this one so well! It looks beautiful and I'm excited to get mine installed. Do I need to have it mounted over a concrete base? I know it's heavy, just wondering if there are options to mounting it down.
6 inch. Depending on what you’re going into you could surely use shorter I’d say at least 2 inches into whatever your base is. I wanted to get below the pavers into the concrete. Also if you let the concrete set up for several days to a week 2 inches would be fine
Can you send me the size of the bolts and anchors you used? I bought this same mail box today and should receive it next week. I would appreciate you sending me this info. Thanks.
I did not. I planed to. A 1/4 plastic plug like this one should work. Also a stainless screw would work. MBPF-1/4" 0.25 inch Locking Black Plastic Body and Sheet Metal Hole Plug Qty 50 PDR Paintless Dent Repair www.amazon.com/dp/B019CX5JWY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_6932C6MQKZ5HGAA0V594

Thank you! I thought I got them on Amazon but can not find the purchase. If I find it I’ll add it to the description.

Yes, you can put washers under one of the bolts. Up to 3 probably. That would make a big difference if you needed it.
Great video, I'm looking to install this same mailbox and was looking for some tips, thank you.
Awesome. Thanks! Love it. Holding up perfectly.

I can not think of any other option other than concrete. Thank you for the comment!! Appreciate the compliment.
at what point did you realize you didnt really need to cut the brick to accomplish what you did for the base
I wanted the grout line I guess you can call it. Looks like it matches the driveway better. Good call out though!
Bought the mail box based on the video.
Do you know the dimensions of the hole?
That’s awesome! The hole? The hole I dug was about 14”x14”x 14-20 deep. Only because I used the pavers to keep the grass back. Smaller hole would work
No way this mailbox is still standing straight lol
Lol. Perfectly straight still.
Great video. From where you got the sinkers and how big are they?
they were 1/2 inch and home depot. thanks!
What size screws did you use for the bottom post?
6 inch. Depending on what you’re going into you could surely use shorter I’d say at least 2 inches into whatever your base is. I wanted to get below the pavers into the concrete. Also if you let the concrete set up for several days to a week 2 inches would be fine

1/4 by 6” bolts. 1/2” sinkers. Overkill, but it won’t budge. Good luck with the install!
