Cymerian knows too much, must be executed. (don't mind the amnesthics behind me)
He is the host of the Euclid-Class SCP-7700. He is inside his own containment.

You should get an orange jumpsuit if you're going to start using this as an official background boss :P
I think that is the cost of doing business when there is no official cannon.
No one being objectively wrong, does not create the best environment, somehow, everyone just wants to be more right.
That's why I liked the Resurrection canon, it was basically an attempt to reintroduce or "resurrect" the central storyline. Sadly it seems to be on a indefinite hiatus at this point.
I like the bright list, this isn't because I like bright no. That's because I love the fact that there is a character with an entire list of wacky hijinks they aren't allowed to get into due to reasons, I just want that, I don't care about the character
There are other things like it that exist, including the original list that the thing is based on, "Skippy's List." There's also a Herman Fuller's Circus of the Disquieting article that includes such a list for one of the circus performers.
Literally just replace him with one of the newer characters or one that isn't someone's namesake.
I mean those existed before the bright list, the bright list was just a copycat, but it was the only one to get popular, Cimmerian literally said this
The gap of the SCP fandom mostly comes from the fact that SCP is still pretty much presented to the general public in way that doesn't best represent the aims of the SCP Wiki. Ever since Containment Breach reached its peak of popularity, almost every other content creator outside the wiki created projects in way that were consistent with the tone and content of Containment Breach. This pretty much created an image for SCP that makes it look like something consistent and with a specific tone, but the SCP Wiki has evolved to become extremely varied and inconsistent. There's also the fact that quite many people on the SCP Fandom are not really much into reading, not everyone who enjoys watching videos and playing video games about SCP is warrented to spend hours reading documents on the Wiki, written works are not quite the most popular form of media nowadays.
No one cares about containment breach.
@@grilledleeks6514 That may be true nowadays, CB's peak of popularity was somewhere between 2013 and 2014 and lasted up to 2016/17. Even after CB's popularity faded, the image it created for SCP was still being perpetuated by other works inspired by it such as SCP Unity, Secret Laboratory and others which came after.

I joined the site years ago, go on it every now and then, when I heard of the bright situation and the poll I purposely decided not to vote, namely because it didn’t effect me if it stays or went.
Am I sad it’s gone? For the humor yes, and it probably should have been changed to What Doctor *insert name here* can’t do or something BECAUSE it, to me, was funny. However am I sad to see it go? Not really, because I understand WHY it was removed.
I always never liked the whole "Series I sucks" stuff because it was obvious what they really mean is "the articles that became popular through Containment Breach suck", they sure as hell aren’t talking about SCP-024 or SCP-064.
Yeah how many people do you see ranting about how overrated 002 "The Living Room" is?
no matter the fanbase, or the media, or the whatever it is. there will always be a divide. even in some of the more civil fanbases.
I didn't participate in the site vote, because i'm both too young to do anything except read the articles on the site and i could not for the life of me figure out my account password, but i can absolutely imagine the folks in the fandom who were off-site complaining over the removal of the Bright list--something that was possibly able to be changed by them--yet refused to do anything about it when the vote happened was absurd. personally i think it was a good decision to remove it, rather than replace the names or wording. sometimes it's better to remove things related to not-so-good people than to change those things to fit a newer concept.
Cim's been held hostage by the Chaos Insurgency.
Come take him back. He won't shut up and we don't know what to do.
There is also a thing of people who are displeased with something/disagree with something tend to be more vocal.
Exactly why i dont even engage with the SCP Fandom even tho im a huge SCP fan
Seriously same, I watch videos or play games ...maybe sometimes go on the website and read a few...but actually trying to be civil with these people (especially this guy making the video) just doesn't work...they all seem so up their ass and so past the point of ever trying to understand anybody else it's honestly hard to ever enjoy talking about the spoopy skeleton man or whatever

Oh this is a treat, I can now actively see Cimmerians subscriber count increasing, this pleases me very much.
I wonder if there will be a remake of the list with Doctor Shaw one day with none of the weird gross stuff(There where some creepy signs on the list about that admins personal character years ago), through it does beg the question of what will happen to other SCPs with the redacted character, will they be deleted or edited to use Shaw in their place?
Through the gaia online joke SCP is far better than the list even if its aged.
The glory of scp is that it is all fan fic, all the way down. If there is no canon, then the wiki isn't canon either. The scp wiki is the first and biggest fan site.
It is practically like
A canon AND a fan site at the same time, and that's so brilliant
Bro, I thought you got arrested and this was an explanation vid. That white brick wall isn’t helping you! Lol
Edit: bit ya, man. People keep complaining about not being rejected from the site. But it is practically impossible to fail if you read the instructions.

I've been out of the loop with SCP for a while now, one too many terrible articles with writers that think way too highly of themselves and their poorly written OC's
Good to know that I'm not the only one who noticed this sort of 'trend' in regards to the writers that's been going on since, I believe, after late 2018.
@@MrERJ1992 I think the first one I noticed it on properly (I'd been seeing it before but never really noticed) was the crooked man,

I don't think the list should've gone, it was a good piece of content that got hit because of the association, I understand the decision, even tho I think it was a bad one.
Ultimately, I only consume SCP content from your and TES channel these days, so I don't terribly care, as long as removed articles aren't bullied off of youtube with copystrike abuse.
It's been a while since I read the bright list. What's wrong with it?
he said the thing. going out on a limb
I've pretty much stopped engaging with the actual SCP site itself. I have around two authors I regularly engage with Djkactus and Rounderhouse. After that nothing, and after perusing the site and its and its occupants I have found many of them to be up there own collective asses.
Like a human reverse ouroborous. Not to say there isn't cool people or that there aren't other authors that I occasionally really like but I've found personally that SCP offsite to be a far more pleasant experience. RUclips for me has been The place to go for SCP as well as other sites. Hell even reddit and the Chans have had more interesting conversations about SCP then the site itself. And that's besides the nepotism and general smugness and corruption that I hear about the on sites.
Hell at this point even the RPC is more tolerable at least when they act like shits its because that's half the point.
I still point people towards SCP but I also tell them
" read the article and go."
There's very few people worth talking to.
If you have a thick skin and a knack for shitposting join RPC, if not or if you simply wish to stay true to SCP join an offsite many are great find one that works for you. The lore you like is by definition malleable and nothings truly Canon. If you liked older SCPs or think the rewrites for others are dumb then join a group who also agrees. Chances are on the on-site if you voice those kind of opinions then you'll get nothing but scorn and condescension.
Exactly how I feel ..y'know I got into this shit years and years ago (actually a little BEFORE containment breach came out believe it or not) and it bothers me how....garbage the people are now just hard to even enjoy anymore...it's almost like how some hardcore anime fans used to be except even more ass holish and better then thou for no reason like ugh
don't forget that the roots of SCP are on 4chan.
I think there is a wee bit of a problem here if, even with the explanation of the events presented, there is apathy or hostility towards the idea of axing that sort of list. Feels, to me, the priority order is a bit messed up here for several many folk. Though, it's currently all too common that parasocial relationships to fictional characters are to many more important than actual, real people.
The culture. Discuss the culture. Imma come discuss the culture.
We get to vote on what stays and goes now? You want to prove the site is not like 1984 authoritarians? Okay then hold a vote for 2721. You won’t do it.
Sounds like you took this personally.
I actually think this is a legitimate criticism to Cimmerian’s point. The staff select what is and isn’t up for debate and the fan base is just expected to “deal with it” even if the majority are opposed. That’s why there is a divide in the community when you go beyond the wiki.
@@courierbilly nah just that these votes aren't really votes. They are carefully set up situations for the admins to act like they are listening to the fanbase when it's all a facade. They always go with their own decisions in the end. No one gave a crap about the situation with Dr Bright in other stories until they decided it was a problem and only after one of their own admins abused their power to remove shit on his own and even now half the fanbase still do not even realize it was an issue but they've already held a vote on it.
A single hoop?! Look, I hope things have changed and it's been many years but you had to go through a series of documents looking for a password that were basically lectures about writing peppered with creepy comments by Bright. Him asking for nudes wasn't the only bit, if memory serves. I remember spending a significant portion of an afternoon trying to join only to be met with frustration and eventually deciding this was not a group of people I wanted anything to do with. I want to say 2011 or 2012. I lurked in the chat room. I did what was advised I do at the time to join. Then I'd consider what people were actually taking the time to comment to each other on articles (again, at the time). It all seemed ridiculous and cultish to have to go through for a vote. I hope things are different and listening to you, it sounds like they might be. As you can tell, the whole thing left a sour taste in my mouth.
What the duck are you doing in my basement, Cimerian? Are you there for the gold bullion? That gold bullion is cursed and will kill you if you spend it.

@@zane19 no we don't, and i'd like to keep it that way
I think your misunderstanding the free speech point
Firstly we are talking about the principle of free speech that you should be able to say things without major consequences from those in power
The difference from the shut up case is the person telling you to shut up is not in power all they have is there word that your free to ignore. If a site admin dose it with admin powers then they are in power and ought use the principle of free speech when exercising that power
The problem here is that the principle of free speech only exists as a ghost in the online space, so ergo, it does not really exist online. Every website is set up more or less as someone's property (there is always an admin, or a group with keys to the control box), and sites are always registered to be owned by someone, who pays the bills. Beyond that, let's say that someone is talking completely openly hateful things on a website. Why should the owner of said property not be allowed to boot the person out ala "get off my property!"? You in general for most sites need to really cross the line to get the boot, and they have da rules which you agree to in order to keep hanging out in the tree house. There is no real other way to police the matter currently either, cause I don't think anyone is jumping for joy to harvest more tax money to set up a cybercop squad with their own judge just to get "Jimborgster_51" banned from Reddit for posting hateful content again.
It's also freedom of speech working as intended that someone can sure say something, but they gotta deal with the consequences of saying it too, and anyone can use their own freedom of speech to tell the first person they have a potato for a brain. Which then the first person can retort to that they think the person they were speaking withs mother was a hamster, and that their father smelled of elderberries. Simple really. Aint censorship to do any of this.
@@videocrowsnest5251 so long as none of those people are using a large power difference between the speaker and the one delivering the consequence then sure. Keyword there is using by the way

If the writers of 173 and 096 had the same thing come up about them then it would be a different story. Artists should be separated from the art and changing something for the few should not be considered by the many.
The problem is it's the vocal minority that keeps screaming on the wiki. The vocal minority that infects everything. We all know who that group of people are. But we remember our roots and where we came from. You can try to remove Dr Bright from the foundation wiki but you can't remove the SCP foundation from Dr Bright. He will forever be a core part of SCP lore. The series 1 and 2 articles are what makes the SCP foundation great. Now it's all about these authors trying to tell a grand universe in story and then shove it into an SCP article which that is against what the SCP wiki is supposed to be. Take almost anything from what has been dubbed the kaktusverse. I absolutely hate almost every single one of those articles related to that. The reason for my hatred is because it goes against everything the SCP foundation wiki is supposed to have for its SCP articles. The kaktusverse gives an explanation for the anomalies and how they were created, explains very little about how the foundation actually contains this basically DnD universe inside their own universe, and it's mostly written like an SCP tail or story instead of an article. So all these new writers could seriously go away. Bring back the old 4chan writers, we need them back and now. Until then I will write a script just to replace whatever that new doctor's name is that you and that other writer said would be replacing Dr Bright to replace his name with Dr Bright's name.

One article that I think should go is the original scp-173, it's history is problematic regarding copyright and it's behaviour is obviously mostly taken from the weeping angels from Dr. Who. Or at the very least it should get a rewrite, many really old articles should.
Yeah no 173's "problematic" history with copyright was already addressed with them getting permission from the original artist if I remember correctly.
So what if it was inspired by the weeping angels, the weeping angels were inspired by schrodingers cat does that mean all episodes with the weeping angels should be erased?
I also don't think it or any of the early articles should be rewritten just because they're not up to standard by that logic all sci-fi books from the 50s should be burnt because they're not up to the modern standards of sci-fi.
Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind "expanded" versions of series 1 articles alot of them are just the anomaly itself and containment procedures, no date of discovery, no date of containment, nothing.
But I think outright rewriting them without the author wanting to do so is... dishonest? I don't know if that's the right word but I think I got my point across.
(Also I just realized you might've not meant for the rewriting bit to come off as forceful as it did to me so I'm sorry if I misinterpreted that
I think a lot of series 1 articles should be expanded in other articles where the things that does not make sense in the original get explored such as in scp 6820
