  • This starts out with the molding and pour of a red brass steam whistle bracket and then I evaluate some furniture hardware.
From there I take you to visit the showroom of P.E.Guerin New York

Those display cabinets were works of art in themselves.

That red brass turns out so shiny and pretty! Always blows my mind how a few percent of zinc added to bronze makes that much difference.

What an amazing place P.E. Guerin. I bet you and Keith could have stayed there all day. It will be great watching Keith finish the bearings and whistle housing. Thanks for sharing another great video Clarke.

The PE Guerin piece was amazing. I wonder if there are places like that which go back even further? Is their stuff sand cast or investment to catch the detail?

These videos are always so interesting! I really enjoy seeing and learning about what you do, and your approaches to problem solving. Maybe "chicken board" will catch on as the industry term for it - at least it will have an entertaining etymology! 😆

That New York foundry was lovely! I very much hope You (and all the others) can make ends meet further, I don´t even know if in Germany any foundries are left. I wouldn´t know what to do if I have a broken part that can´t be 3d printed or bought again. I wish Y´all all the best!

Hi Clark, a question: Yellow Brass vs Red Brass vs Bronze: what's the difference in composition? I've looked up stuff on the internet and gotten conflicting answers.

I've not seen your videos in several months. But, I'm at a loss on your technique here with how you are forming the drag & cope. I also thinking the fire is for removing moisture & hardening the sand, but I'm not sure. Either I'm missing something, or the video is disjointed, at least for me. Maybe I can catch back up.
