Obvs great video lads! Water in the boot is a VW Golf owners' nightmare (they're fairly well known for trapping water, usually from the speakers, the roof aerial/satnav fin, or vents behind the bumper). Keep up the good work 🖖
You sure did mate, tbh we've not really tried selling it properly, we listed it on ebay for a buy it now price but no takers, we need to list the scirocco and the merc properly tbh 😉

Above and beyond there Andy 😂 can’t see a Jag tech climbing in the boot and getting soaked they’d deffo just slap a new boot seal on. Liam needs his own insurance these workplace accidents are getting out of hand 🤕

Fantastic video guys, keep it up. I also have a water leak problem on my 2013 Ford Focus and now thanks to this video and your guidance I know now where to start looking for the leak. My car still stinks swell so Steve may have that smell for a while. All the best

Hello Again, best way to check for a water leak, the 'smoke bomb test', same as used for chemney smoke test, set the smoke bomb of in the boot then close the lid, check where the smoke is visible. Regards,
Good idea, ive never seen that done on interior leaks 😉
Had the same issue with a 2016 XF, no obvious entry point. Must be one of those Jag quirks 😂

@TransformotionVR haha! Nope, took the easy route. Drilled a hole to allow it to keep draining, haha 🤣
Most xfs have this issue with water in the boot

Always comes in via the rear slam vents most common water ingress route for the xf

Great video, its a common XF thing had the same with mine. A quick internet search would of given you the answer. Cheap fix new vents are very cheap
We'll just remove these and seal them back on, I didnt even think of googling it
Back in 1992 I had a new Rover 800, the boot was aways damp, after taking it to the main dealer, they advised, we know what the problem is, its standard on the Rover 800, the rear windscreen has not been sealed properly, after a reseal all was dry, not good for British manufacturing, I later in life had 2 X-types and an XF sportbreak, I loved them, however had to put up with electrical issues. Par for the course.
Rover were never known for their build quality, a bit like the JLR group 😬😅

I bought a 2016 Merc E220d as an 3 year old approved used car and soon after found that the spare wheel well (or adblue tank area) was full of water. I think it had been in a bump, and the boot lid seal not replaced properly but Mercedes sorted it all out. Then, a few months after I had some engine lights on relating to the adblue system. Predictably, All the ecus and fuse boxes in the boot which had got wet were now causing an issue. Again, Mercedes just sorted it all out. I’m glad I didn’t have the bill for it!

I know yous said the crash didn’t cause the water leak but I think it maybe just broke the seals with the flexing with the bump but yous got to the bottom of it
There was not a single dent in the metal work tho, im pretty sure it just smashed the light and creased the plastic, who knows tho 😉
Should have wired a kettle element to the battery & throw a box of tea bags in there. Be handy for a picnic... 🤭

My mk3 focus was like that and it was the vents behind the bumper. The sealant goes. I had to do mine and hasn't happened since. The water only comes in whilst your driving
I dont know why they don't just bond them on from the factory insted of using a seal

Take back bumper off and you will find it comes in from the breather flap/ vent at the rear, this is a known fault with the XF
We've already seen thats one of the leaks from inside but yeah the bumper will come off to repair it
Them rear slam vents behind the bumper are where they leak the most , take them out silicone around and put them back literally every xf does it at some point if your working on a facelift 2011 onwards don’t disconnect the battery without following the disconnect procedure or you’ll brick the BCM
Thanks for the battery info mate, I didnt know that, and I didn't know they'd be that common for leaking there, 3 separate leaks is bad tho ha ha
Damn. A mobile garden pond. I had a Seat Ibiza that did this, and it was due to a plug underneath missing. I never knew, by the way, that start stop ruins the starter motor. Makes sense though, and I'm switching mine off now
Ha ha water leaks can be a nightmare, im glad this was an easy one to find, the starter just wears out the more it's used, start stop makes it do 10x the work

Had the same problem with a 2014 Peugeot 508 saloon. both vents were leaking. The parts guy told me they were on their 3rd revision since the car was made. Must be a common problem.
Just take the rubber grommet’s out under the space saver had an old jag in the 80s same problem just bored a couple holes in he bottom of the boot area cured the problem

I had this issue in a 3 year Old Ford Focus. Mine actually had more water than that in. Just really poor design from Ford. I removed the lights and bumper. Sealed around all the fixing points for the lights and body vents behind the bumper. In 7 years since it’s never leaked again.
Crap init!? What did you use to seal it? Silicone?
Due to having all those leaks ( Leeks) into the boot, does that mean that it was a Welsh car bought on St David's day? ( sorry, I've been living with Scousers nearly 40 years and the dad joke comedy is rubbing off on me) 😂

My partners Mini Countryman has water ingress. A good local garage have tried to source the leak and failed.
Did they do it properly? It needs stripping properly and doing the ald squirty trick ha ha 😂
Fair amount of water there not surprising tho with the amount that leaked through those vents another job done locating the leaks you’ll have that all sorted good work there 👍

I did get soaked! I forgot about the top rubber that was split 🤣🤣

Jaguar quality control looks rubbish.
Aparently it's a known fault on the xf's, a few people have commented on it now
