The only place I get my news is from Rick Harsch and the graffiti in my local alleyway.

Would talking to our local bookstores about stocking Samizdat help? I dont want to lead to price gouging on your books but i want to help spread the good word!

The only way it would help is if they allowed people to order from us directly. The cost of distributing potential sales is prohibitive.

@@rickharsch8797 appreciate the response. One of my bookstores has open mic nights on Sundays so I'm gonna start proselytizing the good word that way! Best of luck and Ive got my money on hold for the Bended Circuity and Oskar reprint!

    Due Dissidence is good:
    www.youtube.com/@DueDissidence
I have joined substacks of various people.
Also Glen Greenwald, Matt Taibbi, maybe it's too much.
I like what you are saying.
I do a book thing but I have not read your work, the algorithm brought me here I guess.
Anyway, I'm kinda old and get most of my books from the NYPL since my branch is half a block away and they have lots of books.

you have my number if you want to talk crowdfunding. i would not recommend it for what you do however i'd encourage current customers to put overstock EVERYWHERE around their town's little free libraries, get some cards from MOO, send them out and make existing customers INFLUENCERS IN THE REAL WORLD not on algo driven "social" media :)

addendum = a friend just did an insane crowdfunding, very successful, within 10 hours funded (her book is "who is afraid of degrowth", a very in depth graphic novel) but the reason why she succeeded is of course that this is a socio-political topic that everyone is thinking about. NOBODY BUT ME AND RICK IS THINKING ABOUT LITERATURE HAHAHAHAHAHA HIHIHIH HUHUHUHU sorrry back to reading W.D. Clarke

addendum = as a former NPR news director of KAZU in Pacific Grove, CA, I participated a LOT in pledge drives. They are necessary for the system of public media in the US. In Germany this is funded by a kind of tax which is great but has its own problems. Anyways = I think for small literary press asking existing customers for a SUBSCRIPTION why not. But crowdfunding specific titles becomes an administrative NIGHTMARE. And speaking of "social" media = you are a SLAVE to the ALGORITHM!

sorry my comments came 2 minb into the video - you are making excellent points in terms being opposed = I feel the very same way!

@@Draxtor I can't in good conscience sell subscriptions. I know it's done, but I can't bring myself to sell books that don't exist and readers don't know anything about. I have books that have sold under 30 copies and subscriptions would put them in the hands, theoretically, of people who have resisted their charms for, in some cases, years.
