Please be mindful that we will pause (we prefer to react in the moment & to avoid copyright strike), we will react with enthusiasm, smiles, tears, conversation, exchanged looks and air-instruments. Great first reaction to Marvin and Tammi Terrell so much 60’s soul. They had several great duets. She died so young from a brain aneurysm in 1970🥲, and Marvin said he didn’t think he would ever do another duet with another female singer. They were very close, and her death affected him so much that he went into seclusion for a time.♥️♥️
There is so much great material to cover from the Mowtown 60s hitsville machine. That little independent record company from Detroit Michigan was a huge influence and catalyst on popular music. That was a great Dan request and great reaction. 👍👍

She did not die from a brain aneurysm, she had a brain TUMOR, and had EIGHT brain surgeries in a 2-1/2 year period, trying to save her life, but there was nothing they could do at that point. She collapsed onstage in Marvin Gaye's arms in October 1967 while singing THIS song ("Your Precious Love"), and after various tests etc was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor... she died 2-1/2 years later in March 1970.
I REALLY hope they react to the live video version of "Ain't No Mountain high Enough", with Tammi wearing the blue outfit, soon... that's one of the sweetest music videos in existence anywhere, and captures how adorable Tammi was, and how great they were together not just vocally, but as far as their chemistry. Imagine being in love with a woman you're so musically compatible with, and she collapses (and blacks out) in your arms while singing this song, when she was only 22 years old!! No wonder he went into seclusion, and too bad he developed addictions after this largely as a way to cope with what happened, apparently. Nick and Lex: IF YOU DON'T REACT TO THEIR VERSION OF AIN'T NO MOUNTAIN HIGH ENOUGH (video version, with Tammi in blue outfit and hat), YOU ARE TRULY MISSING SOMETHING!!!
That girl was something special, and if you learn more about her childhood and what she went through, it's a compelling story. She left the music business after being beaten up by James Brown AND David Ruffin (Temptations), and was in college studying to be a DOCTOR when she was invited to tour part-time, and ended up singing duets with Marvin Gaye but just as she started to achieve her dream of being a star, she was diagnosed with the brain tumor. I have NO use for James Brown OR David Ruffin because of this, no matter how good some of their music might have been... and I think both of them would have been better off in mental institutions dealing with their abuse/trauma/drug addictions, than beating the hell out of a beautiful and talented young woman (and probably contributing to her death due to trauma/concussions etc). David Ruffin apparently hit her in the face with his motorcycle helmet, and hit her in the head with a hammer also, I have heard... I'm not going to glorify him no matter how many "hits" he had with the Temptations, or what kind of singer he was. I've just heard about the book, "My Life With Tammi Montgomery", written by her younger sister, which is apparently pretty heartfelt and gives a lot of background on her career with the Motown label/artists... and why Tammi's mother would not allow ANY Motown artists to attend her funeral, except Marvin Gaye.

Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing is my fav from this duo. He loved Tammi so much he just wasn't the same after she died. Both died way too young. Marvin's death was just tragic.

This was always a favorite "slow dance" song. They were such a great duo, and it was so tragic when she collapsed in his arms onstage in 1967, was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and had 8 unsuccessful surgeries before dying in 1970.
She left many beautiful songs as her legacy, including these favorites of mine with Marvin- "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing", "If I Could Build My Whole World Around You", and "You're All I Need To Get By."

Thanks Scott for this great pick! Love these two artists who had a special connection and did many songs together. Marvin Gaye has a long history of tremendous music as well, much of it devoted to social causes. Thanks so much guys for reacting to this very chill tune!🍃🍂

Just a great song, written by Nickolas Ashford and Valerie Simpson, and produced by Harvey Fuqua and Johnny Bristol. The background vocals are by Fuqua, Gaye, Terrell and Bristol. The instruments were provided by The Funk Brothers with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra...

Tammi was in abusive relationships with both James Brown and David Ruffin (of the Temptations). She was never romantically linked with Marvin, but people thought they were a couple because of their wonderful chemistry. The lyrics of their hits were very uplifting and positive. It's tragic that her life was cut so short.
