    If you're using the Atronach sign you can always restore your magicka through Temple shrines or Imperial Cult shrines, or summon your own ancestral ghost and hit it a few times, then dispel it again. It's such an overpowered sign, but fun to play.

      You can also enchant bought or made spells onto items as well, like jewelry, misc weapons, or armor. These will use the enchant charge instead of magicka, and that will recharge over time. But it does have a higher upfront cost to get set up. Also scrolls, scrolls are super useful always have some intervention and mark/recall scrolls on hand

    I've been a big elder scrolls fan for most of my life, but I grew up as more of an oblivion and skyrim kid, and never touched morrowind for some reason. But after starting morrowind late last year, I can't put this game down. For all you guys worrying about running out of Magicka or potions with the atronach stone, keep in mind every spell you buy or create can be put onto an item as an enchant and you can use the enchant charge to cast in replacement of magicka, and in morrowind that enchant charge will recharge overtime which completely trivializes magicka but will have a much higher upfront cost to get set up

    Literally my first Morrowind character was a Dunmer spellsword with the atronach birthsign. I feel validated now that even as a beginner player I had decent insight into building a good character. The only thing different is that I went with the default spellsword class instead of a custom one.

    Just a quick note for people try doing this with the Patch for Purists, you can still grab the Sword of White Woe. Instead of being on the dresser, it will be on the bedside table. If you position yousrself on the beam just left to where he is standing here 18:37 and face the other way, you can eventually find a blind spot and steal it

    As a man from Poland, I wouldn't call it Witcher is Spellsword. he's more of a bounty hunter or inquisitor. Yes, he can use spells, but he might as well shoot a humanoid with a large ballista arrow if he had such a battlefield. he uses every method possibile, so he does not specialize in magic at 50% of his battle metodology.

    18:27 the sneak indicator part is interesting, because what you can also do is, stand next to the guard until he starts looking at you and does his "Out with it, filthy N'wah, i don't have time for you!" talk and when he does that, you jump behind him into the corner, so that he now faces the corner.
    A short moment after he is done with his probably very rude speech, you can leave the corner, but the guard is still standing face to the corner and you can sneak-steal the sword then, too even if you're not behind the pillar next to the staircase.
    ...This is like the "bucket on head"-method from Skyrim. So long as the NPC is not facing you directly, you can sneak undetected.

    Yeah, I've had to stop using the Atronach sign. It's just the best sign by a long way. There just isn't an archetype that it doesn't improve whether you intend on casting spells or not.
    I tried it once or twice when I was a kid and thought it was terrible, ran out of mana a couple of times and was like, nah.
    I like the magicka weakness sign on a dark elf and roleplaying that it's basically a recessive gene from when they were the Aldmer before the curse.

    I just started playing Morrowind for the first time two days ago. I opted for the classical experience by buying for Xbox Original and using my 360 as the emulator since backwards compat works on there.
    My guy: Argonian
    His name: Jeerava Weaves Many Spells (unfortunately I couldn't use the typical dash symbol with the Argonian name since Xbox never had that option)
    His class: Spell Spear (I figured that since they were spears that Bethesda might've made the range on them better than other melee weapons)
    His build: Strength and Agility (as favored attributes) Athletics, Spear, Medium Armor, Mercantile, Speech Craft (Major Skills) Long Blade, Alchemy, Armorer, Illusion, Mysticism (Minor Skills) and then I used birthsign of the Lady to boost Endurance and Personality for my necessary skills.
    I'd like to add that because I had the instruction booklet with the game I didn't and still haven't looked up anything except what specific armor and weapons I want endgame. I have the goal of ending my fashion scrolls with Indoril Armor, a Glass Halberd, and a Glass Claymore. I'm having a really good time so far and I actually like the way this game looks since I grew up with MYST on my grandads computer as a boy. So far I have killed everything with my spear no issue and emptied Balmora of wealth with my potions since my Mercantile is so fucking high. 10/10 so far would become a scaly druglord again.

      @CoffeeNutGaming I've been working so much lately and honestly, haven't consistently gamed for almost a year now when I last updated my system.
      Your videos got me all amped up to get back into Vardenfell, and subsequently back into a little light gaming. I've never played a build like this so that's been fun too.
      Still busy but man is it fun revisiting the first game that got me heavily invested into RPGs as a little kid. I remember the first year I bought the game I was pretty much in a Seyda Neen/Balmora simulator lmao Figuring it out back then on my own was very rewarding and revisiting that has been awesome. I actually spent 100s and 100s of hours in Morrowind as a kid and I still learned a couple things from this video which made me smile.
      Really lookin forward to Skywind and I hope to see your videos playing it.
      Keep up the good stuff!

I swear it's watching me through me laptop... I'm so glad I found this channel though. This type of content for Morrowind and similar games is needed. You get so many people going back to play, and a lot of younger bethesda fans going back to play it. • @michaeldavies7949
      @michaeldavies7949 Год назад +1

      I agree but for later game the Cuirass of the saviour hide and the boots of blinding speed are a must. You can use summon boots, gloves and shield if you want to save weight and build up your unarmoured skill to fill in the gaps

    • @miftosaurus
      @miftosaurus Год назад

      @@michaeldavies7949 right, but in later game you can enchant yourself a pair of expensive/extravagant, or orcish/daedric boots with an enchant stronger than those boots.
      if you play as a mage/spellsword with Light Armor as one of major skills, you are right: with added skill, these two are more effective.
      if you play as a "pure mage", relying just on your spells, scrolls, enchanted items, and skilled in Unarmored, because robes and stuff does not have any armor, not so.
      same if you want to play with Heavy Armor as one of your major skills, because their biggest enchanting capabilities...
      also, Cuirass is a must for any high elf toon, because this one compensate one of their greatest weakness... and is really easy to get at level 1! :D
      for a breton, is really sweet to wear: innate 50% resist, and the Cuirass, with another 60%!... :D
      but, as i already said, as a mage or spellsword, you will be able in later game to enchant your own gear, with better enchantments, without these minuses...
      Morrowind is not Skyrim... you don't need to disenchant an item to learn his enchantment... but most of these gearpieces are really expensive, and gold is welcomed for training... if you find someone able to pay 150000 gold coins! :D

    • @michaeldavies7949
      @michaeldavies7949 Год назад

      @@miftosaurus Stronger than 200 speed? No you can't. A breton with the Saviour's cuirass and the boots of Bspeed doesn't even get affected by the blindness drawback.
      In the vanilla game unarmoured doesn't work because of a glitch. You need a shielding buff or wear at least one piece of armour for it to work
      As regards to enchanting. I know the difference in all ES games. You can circumnavigate paying thousands of gold with the fortify intelligence exploit with Ash yams and bloat alchemy. As there is no stat limit you can get 10000 intelligence and this will easily be enough for you to enchant yourself a constant effect piece of clothing/armour/jewellery. It won't be as good as the legendary pieces you will find though eg the fists of randagulf are serious required equipment for a melee specialist

    • @michaeldavies7949
      @michaeldavies7949 Год назад

      @Seaworth I see mods that make gameplay easier as exploitation not something that is built into the game. The super stats was nerfed in oblivion you can't have a skill improved with high stats past 100 and the intelligence stat doesn't make your potions better so the fortify intelligence glitch doesn't work

    I made a sort of spellsword almost like that (but on axe, heavy armor and conjuration). And Atronach was my choice too, and it's great ! Another way to turn around the stunt magicka is to apply to the Imperial cult : after a few missions, you'll have free access to the altar, and to the restore attributes benediction. And your spell absorbtion will restore you magicka in a instant! So: Mark - Divine Intervention - pray on the altar - Recall... and back in the fight again !
    That being said, I must confess I'm a little disapointed with the class name... I thought you would go for "S-W-O-R-D" :D but maybe it's too "dad's joke" for a native english speaker ^^

    When stealing the limeware in the beginning, I find the best way is to approach the shelf, open your menus, pick up the item and then just put it down directly after (don't even need to place it in your inv). You can do this with any item within reach of your menu screen and the guard will approach you after you close your menus. But then you can pick everything up and they will stay in your inv even if you do another attempt. Like I like to do all the books too. I think that makes sense how I explained.
    I learned this trick because I do tons of decorating by just placing things where I want them in the world from my inv. I decorate entire shelves or tables without ever closing my inv. Try it out, it's a game changer and I've never seen anyone else ever do it

    Coffee i know you’ve been playing this game about as long as ive been alive, but did you know you can shift/ctrl click items in a stack for example gold to take only one or all of the stack? That way you dont have to hit the [ok] box every time.

    very nice guide, i just recently started playing morrowind and was looking for a video about a good spellsword build but i didnt find one until now

  • @henryarbaugh7255

    My main right now is pretty similar, dark elf with the atronach, but he’s more of an ‘arcane warrior’ than a spellsword. Long and short blades, marksman, and medium armor + block, with alteration mysticism and restoration. So all the damage comes from weapons while layering on all types of defenses and buffs with the spell schools. Plus alchemy and illusion for support.

    This video is amazing, even cleared up the reflect+absorb magic combo.
    I'm following this guide, may have conjuration over athletics. Not sure

  • @Bruced82
    @Bruced82 Год назад +2

    Spell absorption and reflect are multiplicative, you need one instance to grant the full 100% effect, (50%+50%=75%). Reflect only works once and cannot be blocked when it does (this actually pierces godmode...), this is important when you cast spells on enemies with their own reflect (quite a few have it), it will not be reflected again (but the absorb health on touch is excellent, as it cancels the damage out). Reflect doesn't work on traps, but absorption does. Attronach sign is absolutely busted for sure.
    You can kill Vivec with just his own spells, with 100% reflect, just standing at range (to avoid his melee).

    Really nice and informative Guide. It s really cool that you pay that much attention to the character creation.
    How about a Hand to Hand build next, Something Like a Monk using Unarmored, Alteration and Restoration?

    • @nicholasfarrell5981
      @nicholasfarrell5981 Год назад +1

      You want Illusion in that build, Paralysis makes an enemy count as knocked down for your Hand-to-Hand attacks.

    • @sokilphantom2026
      @sokilphantom2026 Год назад +1

      @@nicholasfarrell5981 Yeah paralysis would be a nice fit maybe even destruction or mysticism with damage/drain and absorb fatigue. The main challenge would be how to effectively play with hand to hand in Morrowind since it s pretty OP against individual enemies but when you re fighting two or more it s a pain in the ass.
      I had a custom class Nord barbarian build with hand to hand as my minor skill. It s really good against one enemy but fighting a group was really difficult (especially against tough enemies like the riekling raiders in Bloodmoon)

    You can also make a spell of open lock 100, go to Tel Fyr, go up to the top floor and open the chests there. There's a crazy expensive mace and the best light armour chest.

    Atronach does not need vials for magica. Just good knowledge of blessing sites or marked one or almsivi (or what is the name) where you teleport you to the nearest temple and then you recall to your last position. Blessing is considered spell in game and you can refresh mana pool for little coin by those. I never used vials as atronach player.

    I love Bretons. Their magicka resist and dragon skin racials really saved my hide more than once. Now I got the Cuirass of the Savior's Hide and im essentially immune to most stat drain. Which is obviously whats the most annoying when going full melee mode.
    I usually fight with touch-ranged magic and 2-handed sword with my own spellsword.
