You might be forgetting that the M1 Ultra has 4x more cores than the 12900K.

Multi core really doesn't matter unless you are rending 3d models with CPU only. I have 2x 2696 v3 I picked up for $100 a piece and it has the same multi core score as the m1 ultra.

@xsynth also 2x 2696 v3 is only 36 cores compared to the 64 cores of the M1 ultra. these cpus were in engineering sample phase in 2012 and were released to the public in 2014
