You are comparing apples and oranges in this review. Try leaving any of those three wood ukes in a trunk in San Antonio during the Summer. while getting burger. Also, the last review that I saw of yours you compared the Enya Nova (sans electronics) with the Lava U (with effects, pickup and preamp), without playing the Lava. Only looking at prices on Amazon. Again, apples vs oranges. I have the Enya Soprano and it's nice little instrument that you can forget to bring in from the patio. I also am waiting for the Lava U to arrive. Please stop reviewing ukes solely based on price. It misleads people to oversimplify their requirements for purchasing a uke that fits their needs.

Thanks, Alan. I've already taken a lot of grief over this video so I don't mind your comment at all. I don't like the Nova U tenor and that's the bottom line for me. I do like the Nova U concert a lot but it has some concerns that I repeat as a caveat every time I recommend it. I would not put my Nova U concert in car trunk at any time, anywhere. It's not indestructible. Thanks for taking the time to make a comment on my RUclips channel. Hopefully we will see eye to eye 1000% next time. Rich Davis

@@richdavis4007 Thanks for the response, Rich. I really try not to post negative comments but I felt it was appropriate in this case. I also have a bit of a gripe with the my Enya (Mini/Soprano). The fact that you can't see the frets very well. It also doesn't play as easily as other reviews have led me to believe. It's fine, but just not the easiest for a beginner. I'm still looking for something that doesn't require as much left hand strength. I have arthritis in my left thumb and pressing hard on strings is sometimes painful. I do disagree with you on the car trunk, though :)

@@alanmckean The Nova U concert frets are hard to see and if they wear down, as many people claim they can do in three months, your uke is worthless. Of the over 100 ukuleles I have in my house right now, none is easier to hold the strings down on than the Nova U concert. The Nova U tenor is not so easy, for sure. The Nova U mini plays very nicely. You might want to consider digital piano or music keyboard. I love those instruments and can play pain free. I have beginner piano videos on my YT channel. Since I have not had the opportunity to play the new Enya Nova Tenor (very few have) I cannot give any advise. But, I still base my decisions on playability and sound first. I would rather have one ukulele that plays and sounds better than 3 less expensive ukuleles that are prettier.

For some people the original Enya Nova U concert lasted three months. There were other issues as well. Great play and sound aren't everything! I think these are over hyped, over-rated. I jumped on the band wagon first time, but I won't this time. I play my Kmise tiger flame concert more than my Enya Nova U concert by far. Why would I do that if it was inferior? If Enya Nova U was such a wonder ukulele I would never be playing the others.

I think you are missing the point. Does it sound as good as all wood ? Of course not. But it doesn't sound bad by any means and it does sound better than some wooden ukes I have heard. It is also impervious to temperature, humidity and moisture. I can throw it in my car and leave it there and take it literally anywhere and have a pretty good sounding instrument to play and enjoy. I cannot say that for any of my wood ukes. For me it is well worth the slightly over $100 price tag.

Rich, every RUclips review on the Enya Nova Tenor Ukulele has been excellent. I think I am somewhat of a purist like you. When I hear the Enya played on RUclips, it doesn’t sound natural. It sounds brassy.
I passed on buying one. Keeping to my Aklot tenor and yes, sold my Kalena ABS today on eBay.
I purchased another wood uke today and am excited.

Enya Nova U tenor and me never hit it off. I started out loving Enya Nova U concert but then read all the complaints. My white one has changed color and I expect most of these ukes have issues in a few years, if not much sooner. I simply did not like the tenor and so I've sworn off carbon fiber ukuleles altogether. I'm not tempted by the new Nova U tenor because I don't play tenors. Or concerts; I have one, and due to arthritis issues, a soprano is easier for me all around. And I love my bargain Caramel quilted maple; it has many fine qualities, especially good action and perfect intonation up the fretboard. However, all my ukuleles, and I have a few, are essentially beginner instruments and I feel ready to move up to midlevel (I have been playing for several years now), so I ordered a soprano Ohana cedar top/willow this week from Mim. I hope it and I will grow together over the next few years. But it's all in what people want to spend their money on; from the reviews, the new Enya tenor seems very nice and I'm sure will make a lot of people very happy. But I see your point. I'm not sure which I would choose, though I wouldn't be adverse to having that spalted maple soprano, if all Caramels are set up as nicely as mine. What's going on with Caramel, anyway?
