  • @mtbmully8756
    @mtbmully8756 3 года назад +1

    In the US back in the 1980s, Ping ran a promotion with junior golf lessons and you would get to pick out a new color of the Ping balls at the lesson each week. They were definitely a highlight of the lessons and I've still got quite a few from that collection today. Those were the original Ping Eye which had a more primitive dimple pattern than the Eye 2 . I remember them having that incredibly soft feel, probably an 80 compression or so and even played them in a few junior golf tournaments. Many courses had them printed with their course logo but they disappeared pretty quickly after a few years of popularity. It seemed like there was a significant gap, maybe 5-7 years before the Eye 2 version popped up which was a thrill to see as a kid but they disappeared quickly as well. I do remember the issues with both tracking them in the air and finding them in the rough. The original yellow/orange combo was probably the easiest to spot.

    I remember having a purple and white Ping ball from way back in the day. Probably explains why I was so excited to get some of the New Srixon Q-Star Tour Divide balls; which are quite fantastic.

    Nice memory from the late 80s. I liked the yellow and orange ones the best. I miss the Karsten course but it was a bear to play.

    You can genuinely see a new spark of joy in your game mate! From playing, discussing your approach, putting, everything bud! Just shows that the little things can really make a difference psychologically in your game! I reckon you should bring one out to play a round with on occasions. Reminds you how much you can enjoy golf 👌🏻 And they look awesome haha! Great video as always buddy ✌🏻

    Another top video Rick. You’re right Ping should get back on the ball market, they’d sell a shed load i recon. Interesting review and good tunes at the end too. Enjoyed that one cheers 👍

    I like the old school golf balls, I was surprised how well they preformed. And to see the inside of that one shocked me for sure. They don’t make them like use to, I think your right Rick, ping should go back to making golf balls, I sure a lot of golfers would try them out, haven’t seen you so excited about a golf ball in a long time.

    Awesome Rick! As a young golfer I remember buying the Red/Blue one in the Pro Shop before a round. Didn't lose it on the course, but no clue what happened to it.

    I am old enough to remember golf balls with wound elastic around a rubbery core with paint inside. We used to love slicing up old "tatties" (balls too cut up to be usable) and watching the elastic fly as it released.
