The opera one hit me hard. The voice as an instrument is one of the most inconsistent and infuriating of all time. I bet you he was perfectly fine a couple hours ago, and maybe a mistake (shouting at something, sick, or just a low quality vocal day) ruined his entire performance. I’m a young bass, and not having access to my lower range in a performance is a constant fear for me. Even worse, a mistake that big could lead to him never performing again.
Exacltyyyyyy, I have the worst luck because most of my work is done during the holidays as a hired extra for Christmas music and OF COURSE, that’s when it starts to get cold and dry and windy and my allergies/asthma acts up the most smh. THE WORST.
The voice isn't really that fickle. It literally can be completely reliable as any instrument that's properly tuned. True, some days won't be as great as others, but the vocal cords can still carry you through. (Dimash's performance of the Diva Dance at his Bastau concert is a perfect example of a voice that's at that master level of perfect pitch, flawless technique, and full resonance. He performed this song near the end of his concert as well, so talk about vocal endurance!) It's really in the technique, and the voice seems fickle because many people don't train the effectively, in the sense that they aren't in tune with their body. Each note is basically a different arrangement of articulation of the vocal cords and throat muscles, and there's a sweet spot of perfect resonance that optimizes your use of air. It's totally possible he was nervous or stressed, and so he strained as he went higher. I can hear clearly that he isn't producing a healthy sound, and that his vocal cords are on the brink of failure. I was hoping that wouldn't be the case, but then he kept going at it and if you listen closely, you can hear the distortion in his voice increase. That tells you that he's not resonating from the sweet spot for that particular note. It's possible he was just not on his A game. A simple strain on the cords can cause the vocal cords start producing dissonance which throws the vibration off causing the voice to give out when you pass a threshold. Whatever the case, remember to stay focused and connected with your body so that you are aware of how your vocal instrument is doing and know the extent you can go, so that when you're performing, you can make adjustments in your intensity so that you don't over exert yourself and have a vocal failure. When I sense that I'm not in tip top shape, I'll use a larger mouth than normal to boost resonance, and then cut back some of the airflow to lessen the physical strain on the vocal cords, which also softens the vibrato. (This is a technique I used to develop stamina for belting in mixed voice as well. The vocal cords are muscles, so practicing at a lower intensity for longer periods boosts your endurance safely. It's like yoga for your vocal cords, basically. We're looking to get strong, but very flexible muscles, and that's essentially going to help you boost your vocal range as well.) Hope some of this helps! #singingforlife 💖

Why do you think that is, and do you think the former hurts my voice? About the cat. It's been proven that cats can actually have synesthesia, like humans, and that's what this cat is experiencing. It probably hasn't really heard music before, so it's surprised and probably kinda freaked out by the colours it sees. =)
@@aurweon "A cat's vision is similar to a human who is color blind. Cats can see shades of blue and green, but reds and pinks can be confusing. Color blind doesn't necessarily mean you only see in black and white-
Yeah, I don't think there's any way to know if this cat's experiencing synesthesia with lab tests. It seems like your fairly straightforward focused cat, but with extra void energy.
Lol, when you watch the whole video, (I've seen it before) it becomes clear that it is not actually a cat, but a soot sprite, like in Spirited Away. Clearly, this is Miyazaki's muse.

One of my cringiest moments preforming was when I was at a voice recital and I missed the key change, started stumbling, got off key AND tempo, and to top if all off, I started crying. On stage. There was only like 10-15 people were there but I was mortified. I had to walk off the stage, sit down in the audience (there was no back stage, it was a very small chapel), and cried for a while. When I got back up I re-started, but I didn’t sound as good because I was choking back tears and totally distracted. What’s worse is that I missed the key change AGAIN. At least I kept going this time, but it was still absolutely mortifying. It was a recital for my voice lessons so it wasn’t a big deal in reality, but it was for me. I know just how the pianist felt. I was an ice dancer and while I did that our governing body did not allow us to choose our own music, it was supplied for us for competitions. I was skating my second pattern dance (cha cha) at a competition but the music started and it was the wrong rhythm. Since the referee was not allowed to change the music I had to fit a 4/4 rhythm dance into a waltz rhythm. I ended in last place. The referee apologized.
"Did you laugh or did you cringe?"

About the cat.
It's been proven that cats can actually have synesthesia, like humans, and that's what this cat is experiencing. It probably hasn't really heard music before, so it's surprised and probably kinda freaked out by the colours it sees. =)
Cool story bro, except for the fact that cats see in black and white.
@@aurweon "A cat's vision is similar to a human who is color blind. Cats can see shades of blue and green, but reds and pinks can be confusing. These may appear more green, while purple can look like another shade of blue. This results in vision that is somewhat blurry with washed-out colors." Color blind doesn't necessarily mean you only see in black and white-
@@hal_lucid_ation i looked it up and turns you're right.
It seems like a stretch to say what it's experiencing in the video it's synesthesia, though.
how the hell would you know what a cat is experiencing or whether it has synesthesia or not
Yeah, I don't think there's any way to know if this cat's experiencing synesthesia with lab tests. It seems like your fairly straightforward focused cat, but with extra void energy.
5:50 "tune your hands properly !" But it would take me a month !!!! :'(
Brett: "That's worse than the stock image!"
Me: "At least the stock image contains a real violin and not an electric one."
I mean, there's nothing inherently wrong with an electric violin. At least the violin in the stock image is pointing in the right direction.
The "sneeze" sounded exactly like it does when you laugh into a brass instrument. Speaking from experience.

Except calling it "wrong" is more of a value judgment and is simply a reaction to an unfinished thought. It's transposed, and there's nothing wrong with that, and furthermore with good reason (it's called the range of the instrument).
That fake Barbie was legit. She was really doing that. You could tell by the way her left hand was workin' it. First player had never seen a violin before though, so not fair. Give her points for knowing that you are supposed to hold at least some part of it under your chin.

For me to mess up like that is extremely embarrassing ://
Ayoo I can imagine it feels bad. But remember it happens to everyone maybe with different details. But don't be too hard on yourself over it.
