Wow! Those are doing SOOO much better than I was expecting!... and those were in a box in my basement since '07, when the AX10 Betty was released and almost immediately replaced with Losi Rock Claws. Thanks, I had a good giggle!
Siped rock lizards, with the original plastic beadlocks. Takes me way back to my first ax10! Cheat code back then was to super glue an FMJ 9mm luger projectile in each of the 8 holes in the front wheels. Ahhhh, the good ole days!
I'm not sure how crawler tires would react, but we used to put tires in a gallon zip lock and spray Wd-40 in there. Close the bag and work the WD-40 around the tire and let them soak for an hour or two. Massive grip on prepped dirt.
Some compounds like it more than others. I tried that exact thing with a set of almost-okay Amazon tires and it turned them into grease rings. Grip fell to zero. I mostly now just give 'em a spritz with 50/50 water/Simple Green and let it soak in overnight.
I believe a lot of your “lug traction” on and tire is really the v-notch effect in that your using sidewall pressure wedging the vehicle into and narrower width. We practice this in the 1:1 world as well as rc. You want to really disobey the direction of the front tires where the rears have to have perfect alignment entering into the “v walls”. I’ve had shit tires and when you “stuff” the vehicle into and smaller width it will appear to have traction but it’s really pressure pressing into the sidewalls. Watch west desert wheeler. Even tho he really has the best tractions and tires this technique is used often in his area. I prefer to wheel this way it’s more challenging then ramping up a straight line over river rocks.
Speaking of vintage tires, AMain has the White Dot Rovers in stock. I’d love to see a comparison of them against the Pink Dot to see what kind of difference the compound makes
did they have a crust ? these were soft. RENEW. funny part is all the tires worse in the last 15yrs then these. Yes on 2007 i believe was first yr. Wide foam is a thing, you can shave width to soften. I have a retro set to send you still :)
Nice video the rock lizard work very good with softer foams question I have is have you done a video on hot bodys Sedona 2.2 tires I love mine even though there not legal tires
Men your opinión redcat everest 10 , the parts is compatible White gen 7 , the price is less the 180 dlrs , the price the truck and parts is similar 1:24 scale is truck subestimed
Imagine JConcepts doing its magic with those tires, just imagine it... I think they could do really good on Mavericks on a simmilar rig This tire gets 17th place on the QuickView list (even though they are discontinued, I feel like QuickView is the best place for them), 0.2 point over the Proline Trepador, and 0.7 over the Axial Baja Boss, so yeah, Axial compound goes backwards instead of forward I said it on the Hyrax test, and I will say it again: Im so confused how Proline Trepadors managed such a low score, being beated by so many tires, after all the amazingly good opinions of people out there. After having 0 luck with my 2.2 Axial Treps, I want to try some real good Treps at some point...
Much like with the Baja Pro X, the ProLine version of the Trep is the best one by a margin-- every other Trep is somewhere between "barely okay" and "absolutely terrible." I think the tread pattern just doesn't work. Just as the Baja Pro XS is a superior design to the Pro X-- yet only JConcepts makes it.
@@CrawlerCanyon The pattern is probably the only thing that holds me back from buying them, Proline has the best compound for it, but for the same price you can get a lot of better tires, and some of them even looking as good, if not better, than Treps
There an abomination like the “rtr” 2.2 ripsaws that come on a the axial wraith, or the old super swamper boggers 2.2 rc4wd back in the day. Oh yeah other tires come to mind we’re the pitbull uh idk mad beasts were awful as well 1.9. I would run canyon trails before those now you got me wanting to eBay some 2.2 traxxas for the red clap. Fun test tho great watch at my work breaks.
No thank you. As someone who was crawling back when we had these crap tires, I'll keep my scale tires lol. There's a reason why scale tires are the norm these days and those are long gone.. no one was buying those old style tires! I actually have a set of these old axial tires!
I think these beat every Axial tire that's been released since. The only one kinda close is the Baja Boss. So Axial's use of compound certainly hasn't gotten better over time. This is part of the 800lb gorilla problem: if you put decent tires on your Axial RTRs, you're gonna sell less ProLine rubber.
My wife has a pet peeve about people saying, "to be honest". I am glad she told me because I used to say it ahead of reactions that might be unexpected or overly energetic for my general self. I can see it might be a bit like folks saying, "no offense" right before they throw down something particularly offensive 🙃. "Honestly, I am about to lie right to your face" 😂
I had a couple of the ax10 kits when they first became available in the us, and all I remember was the tires STUNK so bad out of the bag lol, worked okish on certain surfaces, but couldn’t hang with the other tires we had available in ‘07 for competing at least, good for trailing though. I still have a couple sets that we used the sidewalls to build cut and shuts with :)
It's still a better tire than yesterday's Redcat tire.

The AX10 got me into crawling and these tires were really cool back then. For a short time at least.
I still have mine that came on my AX-10.. I had cut lugs off and cut the foams..Worked pretty good.

yes it was, and still have a set of vanquish V1 2.2 with shell weights :)

I agree with you the Pinseeker tire is just way too skinny, I like tires with a little meat on the bone!
Wow awesome video, and cool rc car 👍👍💯
Nice video, nice rcca 👍👍💯
Those tire came with the AX10 kits

LOL just ask. here is the chart
Pink Dot - X Soft
Red Dot - Soft
White dot - Medium
Blue Dot - Hard
white honestly was the most common ran.
i have sets of each just sitting around!
Whoa! Early upload! Put ‘em on the Lasernööt! 🤣
I hit Suck Creek canyon after lunch with the Capra. Spring is here!
Hey hey an early vid. Hell yesssss. Hello canyon crew 😎😎😎

Try yellow at mavericks with them. They seem rock racer type

I have not seen them available anywhere, so I have not. From Hot Bodies I've only tested the two sizes of Rover.
I have the Pro-Line hammer 2.2 and the g8 compound if you guys can find a set do a test on them you will be surprised
I have those on my mini 1 24th enduro
Put ‘em on Rusty, he’s got an old school vibe
Never mind, they’re probably too tall aren’t they…
Are you going to test the new fms fcx10?
Men your opinión redcat everest 10 , the parts is compatible White gen 7 , the price is less the 180 dlrs , the price the truck and parts is similar 1:24 scale is truck subestimed
Maybe try a slightly heavier truck what does tires

Why is it when someone says "honestly" I think they must usually be lying? I kid though :)

15 year old tires out doing brand new tires. how companies shamefully push their garbage on the unknowing consumers. “SMH”
I'm pretty sure these handily beat all but 2 Amazon-sourced tires. Imagine if the compound wasn't completely de-gassed.
