I grew up in the 80's and 90's. and i remember walking around junkyards with my grandfather foaming at the mouth at all the cars out there. Now here i am 30 years later foaming at the mouth over these scraps.. Time has certainly changed things. Thanks for the tour DD!
The first yard is all pine trees, pine needles are acidic, hence rotten car bodies, second yard is deciduous trees, leaves are less acidic, equals less rusty cars. Nice walk around!
I think the moist air, wet leaves and tree debris makes for one of the worst environments for cars. Its fascinating to see these yards but also for me rather sad in that all these potential projects have gone. Lets hope they can salvage a few gem parts for people.
Went to visit my Auntie in Ohio from the UK in I think 1990, and while there got my Dad to take me to a yard that was similar in size, they had been collecting since the 20's...and just kept moving the front desk forward. I'm not kidding you It was almost a mile deep, I ran around that yard for nearly 3 hours ( I was 17 and frenetic!). It had everything from everywhere, Just row upon row, through the decades, seeing the imports start to arrive in the 60's rows, just mindboggling. It was one of the best memories of my youth. Incredible. A great book to get by Pat and Larry Kytola, helped spark my passion. Thanks for this Dan!
I love struttin around old scrap yards they send you back in time with all the memories and the thoughts of what could you do with all this stuff if you only had more time
Same. Born in 76 so I too grew up during the same time. I loved walking through junkyards. We had a couple near where I grew up in southern California Plus there was (not sure if it's there anymore) I have to go see But it was a motorcycle graveyard basically with a 1man operation shop mechanic and a couple older dudes working the counter. That was awesome checking that out. People went so often and a lot just wanted to see all the different bikes..the motorcycle salvage started charging 5 bucks to go to the yard. People still paid.
This was a wonderful experience to go through those junkyards with you and for you to show us around, Thank you Dan and thank you Newburn for bringing him there to see all those beautiful cars and trucks. Keep up the great work and God Bless you guys and your family's, stay safe out there during your travels. 👌💪👍🙏🏼
We had a local yard in Sioux City, Iowa full of iron from the 30's to the 70's. They piled them as high as they would go. Used to go on the weekends with my dad, and crawl all around those wrecks. There was a pile of engines, and I grabbed a hemi valve cover. Also got a 55 Chevy gauge cluster. Man, if I had a time machine !
Damn Dan @ 10:00 look down you would have seen that badass bath tub. That SOB is older than you my friend. Man Newbern found a frigging gold mine, I could have spent the whole weekend looking at "ALL" the cars & trucks.....I LOVE THAT KIND OF SHIT....There is a few good projects there. Take care my Canadian Friend.....
You should got check out Old Car City in White Ga. There are over 3000 cars in that junkyard. They don’t sell any parts anymore, however. It’s like an outdoor museum. A very cool place to see.
My uncle Clary had a yard full of car's and Boat's, and is dreading me turning our yard into a junk yard, I only have 3 in the shed next door, and only 3 in the yard, then the couple out the front, speaking of that I gotta go do some lawns, as we just had two King Brown Snakes in the shed toilet only 6 ft so I better mow the grass so we might be able to see them sooner, thanks for sharing, all the best to yous and your loved ones 😊
Oh man, I would think that it would have been hard to leave those places, and then you would be daydreaming for days after. Great video, brother. was a lot of fun to watch.
Gotta love junkyard tours. I never imagined that it would make for great entertainment as most visits that I've made to a scrapyard in the past involved scrounging up parts for my daily drivers.
Speaking of junkyards... In high school, my friends spent many hours roaming junkyards We are talking the mid-late 70s..... we all had an automotive class ( Skill Center ) on the other side of the city, so we would be there for the afternoon... or some days we'd miss that class and take our own "field trip" and go hunting in the 4 junkyards of our city or one of the junkyards in the surrounding towns Those yards were loaded with car guy gold, and if we knew then what we know now we would've stripped all the moldings, emblems, and even big stuff (engines, transmissions, hoods),all of that classic muscle car gold just sitting there...... 😮 We' d be there for hours looking for parts for our rides... ✌️🙂 Thank you for that amazing video Dan it brought back lots of great memories... BTW: My car 66' Chevelle SS - Ex-Drag car... White / Red interior- 68' 327ci / 4spd / 12bolt ( my 1st car money pit $ ) Opps almost forgot.... NO Bumper 😉👍
I know of a few places like that here in Minnesota less than 20 miles away. Just found a hoard I seen as a kid but got moved 30 miles away to different location in middle of a different woods. I think that's why they get so hard to find after the scrap price hit 300 a ton like 20 years ago now.
Keep thinkin' "Tri5 rear door glass, ss trim, anything 2-dr" as u walk. What a shame. Thanks for the trip down memory lane; saw most of my old cars there.
Cool video, one of my hot rods was a mustang, & there was this guy that had many of them that would not sell or part them out & I watched them as time went by they all rusted out, I don't get it, it is interesting though to see all the cars & trucks & it makes you think about all of the possibilities, but if you don't have a place to store them it would be a waste of time!
Pretty cool Dan. I could just imagine what it would have looked like before the first purge when it was bumper to bumper. Sad that mother nature wants to eat everything. The video doesn't do it any justice, that rot is so bad and the only thing left of most of the cars is just a hollow shell of a once cool car. Still lots of value in parts and trim. Only problem is it would take a lifetime to remove, catalog and put to market any of it. Hopefully you find something to salvage and bring home weather its just a piece of window trim or a whole car. Thanks for sharing 👍
I'm digging those Cadillacs, and that '57 Chevy Sport Sedan! Corvairs are awesome! I'd love to check those out! Being in a humid environment, I'd say there's a good chance that some of them have air conditioning (fairly rare option). I'd like to see those Corvairs! Love that Chevy car hauler too!
It's like a huge toy store. I think you should grab one of those Z's and SBC it with some DD Speed shop DD Speed shop DD Speed shop love. Datsons and the old Z's are so friggin cool.
My dad had two '57 4-door wagons. A 150 in India Ivory and a 210 in Autumn Bronze with Shoreline Beige accent. Both 283 c.i. with power glide trans. Great cars. I really liked the white one with the blue interior.
A WINNIPEG BOY LOOKING AT SOME U.S STUFF FOR A CHANGE..LOL..😅❤..THATS FUNNY..ALOT OF GOOD STUFF TO THE RIGHT ✅️ GUY..NICE TO GET OUT OF WINTER PEG..YOU CANT BEAT LOOKING AT THE PAST OF OLD CARS..THE BLAST FROM THE PAST..❤❤😊

This is my favorite past time! Walking through old wrecking yards is magical! 😁👍
The JunkYard Crawl! Whooo. Steve Mags would be so Proud 👏
So awesome and sad at the same time. Hard to believe all the cars. That's a walk down memory lane!! Cheers!!
Nothing better than a classic junkyard so calming for the nerves and see how time has passed ☺️
The first yard is all pine trees, pine needles are acidic, hence rotten car bodies, second yard is deciduous trees, leaves are less acidic, equals less rusty cars. Nice walk around!

Classic Car Heaven!!!
Holy crap a gremlin sighted in the wild lol literally
Levis gremlin
Thanks Dan for the tour. The last minute was the best for me. Now, if I just had the room, money and time
Got into a bunch of 59-60's at the end would like to see more it's sad if those trees weren't there I'm sure these were decent when they were parked
Walking old yards is better than Disneyland.
Those gremlins used to come with an optional V* - stupid quick like a go-cart
This is 1 of your best videos...I love a junk yard tour..
Glad to see you out and about..
Looks like a fun day!

Coolest places to spend hours at a time. Have a similar place near me but smaller than 30 acres. 30’s to 2000’s

You missed the industrial 392 Hemi generator, they have the rare adjustable valve covers, pretty cool
Great video Dan would love to see that place
Final resting place of a throwaway civilization.

first part of video you walked right by what looks to be a jeep foward control super cool
Cars are too far gone for restoration. But there are a lot of good trim parts and pieces. Grab what you can.
Always like going these types of videos
It's like a huge toy store. I think you should grab one of those Z's and SBC it with some DD Speed shop DD Speed shop DD Speed shop love. Datsons and the old Z's are so friggin cool.

Just a few years back went to North Carolina bought a 49 chevy half ton and a 1970 Chevelle 2dr both under a grand those days are gone.
Didn't you notice the SAAB Sonett (2:45), one of the rarest cars ever?
He called it a volkswagen.
The crunch of those leaves is literally like nails on a chalkboard😵💫
N.C. Old iron hunting with Dan.
I'm happy to hear that some cars had previously been rescued outta there. At least some good has come from the hoarding.
Wow. It's surprising to see so many dumped cars in the forest.😀👍👍
One of my favorite things is exploring old wrecking yards. We just had one close in our area. They sold the property and every car is being scrapped.
Just over 1700 of those 1959 sedan deliveries were made rare car ....there was one on kijji bc for the longest time..great video ,thanks eh 😂
