I was born in 1988 so i didn't really get to appreciate the early 90's pirates I grew up knowing nothing but failure with that team and i love baseball i played it when i was younger and I thought i could be on the pirates when i was in little league with how bad they were. I watched alot of games with my grandfather and we would always hope that they would finally turn things around and for 20 years of my life they wouldn't do anything but fail miserably but we would still watch and listen on the radio. In 2012 he passed away and the team finally started to turn things around. The next year the pirates made the playoffs and I couldnt stop the river of tears coming down my face because i was thinking about my grandfather and how happy he would have been to see that. Now the team is back to its losing ways. I get sad when i watch these videos. I don't know why i do it to myself.
This is easily the best baseball game I’ve ever been to. It was so fun and the energy Pittsburgh brought to PNC Park was absolutely wild. Miss these times, and miss when the Pirates were good. :(
Man, that was a damn good team we had in 13. But baseball in Pittsburgh, well you can't really build on success. That offseason was brutal and after an impressive rebound a few years later, in the following years richer teams continued to swoop in and take whatever they wanted.
That was an out of body experience for me. The anticipation, the night, the game, the hoarse throat afterwards. I'll never see/hear/experience anything like that. I can't remember one person getting up to get concessions or go to the bathroom. Just pure catharsis for Pittsburgh Pirate fans!
Elvin Botello nope they get shutout at home by the Cubs. But I wish the Pirates would of won that game, because the Cards would have been able to beat the Pirates
Sept. 18 2021, Came here to relive this awesome game. Look at the stands ! Listen to the fans! Wow . PNC could be like this more often if the orginzation cared about its team and fans! Its tough being a buccos fan. But still here after all these yearz. Lets Go Bucs!
I decided to become a Pirates and baseball fan in about 2005 when they were truly dreadful. I managed to become a hardcore Pirates fan despite that. For this game, I had to be with other fans. I couldn't be at the game, but I went to a local bar and it was amazing. Everyone there was still doing the blackout attire and everyone was paying attention to every second of the game. It was unreal in a town where baseball has been considered a joke for so many years. The "Cueto, Cueto" chant has to go down in Pittsburgh sports lore as one of the great plays.
we may have not gotten past the nlds although we gave the cards a good series and pushed them to 5, this game was a special moment for the pirates. the pirates faithful like me, that have been a fan ever since I could remember have stuck by them all these years, even when they had a 21 year losing streak when a lot of your so called fans would have gave up, but diehard fans like myself stick by their team no matter what.
That's the spirit! You are a true fan! Never give up on your favorite team and never stop rooting! That's what being a fan is! I am a hardcore Pens, Steelers, and Bucs fan too.
the thing that pissed me off (not a bucs fan but i think they are a great team) is that the bucs had a 2 win advantage tho they still lost (correct me if i'm wrong)
not in the nlds they didn't against the cards they were up 2-1 against them at one point they lost the first game of that series and one the next two and then the cards won the last two. so they won two games in a row against them but were never up by 2 games in that series.
Jesse Clark You're right. Bunch of failed prospects... You mean the ones that fill up the entire roster? Also nice to not mention NL MVP McCutchen, Starling Marte, Gerrit Cole, Jameson Taillon is gonna be a beast and you will never forget the name Polanco
Here in 2020 unfortunately Jameson Taillon has missed two seasons in a row with an injury and Polanco always gets hurt but when he does it’s usually hard to watch.
The best things about the 2013 baseball season. 1 - Pirates overcome 21 years of adversity. 2 - Yankees miss out. McCutchen, Alvarez, Marte, and Walker are all here to stay. The way I see things is that 2014 may very well be Grilli's last year since he is pushing 40. Melancon is a perfect replacement for him whenever he decides to retire. Liriano, Cole, Snider, Barmes, and Martin all need contract extensions or else we will lose them like we did with Byrd, Jones, Farnsworthe, and Inge. If the Pirates can reacquire those five players and build around them, I believe we may very well see the Pirates competing in more postseason play and possibly a world series or two.
Inge was awful, and so was Jones. Byrd walked because there's no need to block Polanco from RF when he'll be up in June. Walker and Alvarez aren't here to stay - especially Alvarez. He's a Boras client and will be gone if he isn't moved in his last year. Snider doesn't need a contract extension (See Byrd). Barmes is a backup. Martin is gone after this year because Tony Sanchez will be ready. Gerrit Cole won't be extended here, also a Boras client. He still has plenty of time with the team. Liriano is also more than likely gone after this year. Don't fret, plenty of pitching prospects will be ready.
I love the Pirates and it's a shame they lost in the NLDS but I would rather they lose fair and square (rather than controversially) in postseason play than make the world series and lose.
+The Executor I wouldn't say Pirates never had a chance but they did win the next two after losing game 1. They almost got thrown a no hitter until Pedro hit a homerun but like i said if they didn't struggle to Michael Wacha in Game 4, Pirates would have gone to the NLCS to face the Dodgers.
Next time when the Pirates go to the wildcard game be a away game because they won mainly cuz of the fans it was a good thing in 2014 they couldn't say Madison bumgardners name
Watch your goddamn mouth, that's Greg Fucking Brown. You don't disrespect GFB. And you act as though he was trying to sound authentic. He was excited and being humorous, at which he exceeded.
I still watch highlights from this game and get chills. The most fun I've ever had watching baseball.
Best game in PNC Park history!!!!!
As a Pirates fan, I feel like I will never get the feeling I got from this game again. Still gives me chills almost 7 years later
10 years later I still feel the same
I miss when the Pirates were actually good
Steel Jackson same
That was like once in the past 30 years
Steel Jackson same
Oh yeah
They were great days.
YASS ABSOLUTELY when we had cutch cole walker Alvirez Martin Pittsburgh was rlly good 2013-2015
Was at this game, still gives me chills!
Even nine years later this is still one of the most epic wild card games ever played. The crowd was incredible.
i can’t wait for buctober to be back soon

The Daily Recap should read: "Greatest influence by a home crowd in baseball history."
Lol, not only did the Pirates whip the reds in the wildcard game but they swept them in the series leading into this wildcard game lol.
And now they both suck.
and now they’re back in last place 20+ games under .500 😂😂
And the Pirates are drawing numerous crowds under 10,000.
And now coronavirus so no baseball
This is the greatest game i have ever seen as a pirates fan, wish we could make it back, the atmosphere at this game was absolutely insane
Greg brown is boss
He can be so obnoxious sometimes as well
For sure. I'm a Padres fan but Brown is amazing I wish he was the Padres announcer
This is easily the best baseball game I’ve ever been to. It was so fun and the energy Pittsburgh brought to PNC Park was absolutely wild. Miss these times, and miss when the Pirates were good. :(
i still come back to this every year and get chills every single time
1:14 wtf what that accent
Sounds like a Michael Scott impression
Tu-tu nothing 😛
Only highlight in 38 years of being a Pirates fan.
What about the 1990s? Even though you know how it ended, it must’ve been fun to see them make a run to the NLCS
You must have lived under a rock during the early 90's.
Remember bucs games in 90s late 80s w my pap I flew from Vegas to this one game right field wall love it man
One of the best days of my life.
Can't wait for more seasons like this, great team with lots of talent in the farm system, plenty of good years still to come
impro724 lol the talent hasn’t come yet lol go Cards
The Executor The Cardinals aren’t looking much better.
@@ryann.9526 In comparison to the Buccos? Yeah we absolutely are
Wrong!
Mike Whipkey Pretty sad the only good player for the cards in 10 years was Freese
Love it! We had some games with the Big Red Machine over the years; remember the 1979 NLCS? Nice to see Doug Drabek again, too.
Greg brown got to love him!
"Russell Mar. tin

Greg brown calls are the best calls
the pirates are one of the best team in baseball this year

The greatest playoff game so far this century.

I wish my bucos were still this good. I know soon we can do it again
This didn't age well
@@MKillBill i said soon not this season 🤣

SteelCity1981 ok thanks
Time to retake Pttsburgh and make it a baseball town again. Hopefully people get behind the team in 2016.
tigerarmyrule 😔
Didn’t age too well...
gotta win the division this year. I really think we woulda beat the cards if frankie gets to pitch game 1 and 5
Corammong nope the Cardinals win the division that year like they normally should
Disappointing that we lost to St Louis in the nlcs:(
tough to win on the road
nlds not nlcs
U were up 2-1 ,CHOKE
Jill Pollon no it was very good that they lost to St. Louis
cbone72 they were at home and they didn’t win
The virus and no baseball right now got me watching old buco highlights lets go bucs baby what a party this night was
Jesse Clark

uh not really
And tailor got cancer tho......l
Here in 2020 unfortunately Jameson Taillon has missed two seasons in a row with an injury and Polanco always gets hurt but when he does it’s usually hard to watch.
Still the best game in pirates recent history
I am so glad I was in attendance so I didn't have to subject myself to Greg Brown calling a game...
I don't know if anyone's noticed but this video about a Pirates playoff win is 4 minutes and 12 minutes long.
or 4-1-2 ;)
The best things about the 2013 baseball season.

Inge may have been the worst player on the team. Why would you mention him?
Eric Malloy Inge was a hell of a lot better defensively and offensively than Barmes.
Inge was awful, and so was Jones. Byrd walked because there's no need to block Polanco from RF when he'll be up in June. Walker and Alvarez aren't here to stay - especially Alvarez. john jacobs can you think of anything that is not negative to say about the pirates? please do
That grilling thing is down the drain (angels fan)
Hold onto this moment guys, because it's gonna be another long twenty years before we get another one.
I love the pirates broadcaster from 0:49 to 1:22
National League Central is by far the best division in the NL
sad thing they lost in the nlds
be successful again
Soo Jeong Lee no. The Pirates won’t be good for a very long time
Russel did it again
I love the Pirates and it's a shame they lost in the NLDS but I would rather they lose fair and square (rather than controversially) in postseason play than make the world series and lose.
and there was NOOOOOOOOOOOOO doubt about it!
Nice video!!!!!! Maybe they will make the playoffs this year
Jaimie Nichols no they will definently not make the playoffs
This game was amazing they should have beat the Cardinals though
S Jenkins The decision to not throw Liriano in Game 5 of that series still bewilders me
S Jenkins the Pirates had no chance of beating the Cards and Wainwright that year
@@TheExecutoriscoolerthanyou If they didn't struggle against Michael Wacha in Game 4 they would have advanced to the NLCS.
SuperSteelers111 so? If the cards win the first three games of the series they would’ve won in three games. Pirates never had a chance

I was at that game and I'm from Pittsburgh.
Same here! (I'm technically not from the Burgh but I'm really close to it)
I technically don't live there but really close too.
Wyatt Arbuthnot same here im from Washington PA
I'm from Gibsonia my favorite part was when we started chanting Cuetto.
Wyatt Arbuthnot That's one of my favorite parts in the game, my #1 favorite is when he dropped the ball. And it's Cueto by the way. :3
Boo cardinals, the pirates are the best team ever!!!!!!!!
ksmithdc no cards are way better the the Pirates
I was at the dback vs Rockies wildcard game
Me too.
I can’t find him/her 😮
When pirates actually had a full stadium 🥲
Best Game Ever.

Bob Nutting destroyed this.
so thats what PNC park looks like with fans lol
Next time when the Pirates go to the wildcard game be a away game because they won mainly cuz of the fans it was a good thing in 2014 they couldn't say Madison bumgardners name
Why must the Reds lose the wild card?
Lets Go Bucs - BUCN
nice
God, being a Cincinnati sports fan puts me on the brink of suicide. Forgot this ever happened.
Should have fired Huntington, not Hurdle. And the Nutter family while we're at it.
Annnnnnnd it's gone
The last time the Pirates were relevant smh
Drabek sucked in the 1992 playoffs
yes lets go bucks
Btw it's bucs
Bucs=suck
no they the best
👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
+Ethan Gravelle says the Reds fan who is too embarrassed to admit the bucs are better lol
that accent at 1:23 was cringe asf
Watch your goddamn mouth, that's Greg Fucking Brown. You don't disrespect GFB. And you act as though he was trying to sound authentic. He was excited and being humorous, at which he exceeded.
People who don't use the word "fuck" and instead just use the letter f are incredibly cringey.
Pharaoh Bhang nobody gives a fuck who he is.
Ben Dvorak Actually a lot of people do..
Great year .......lol reds
Bandwagon fans
TEKASHI 69 why do you think that?
You lose for 20 years it becomes harder and harder to stomach watching.
Bamdwagoners for the pirates.... hahahahahaha
Pittsburgh fans are the worst fans in sports
Idk this video shows otherwise... I thin that goes to Philly
