    The locals of small countries won't be happy with strangers consuming their resources. I live in Australia and the shock of food availability when the pandemic hit was unbelievable and we are still feeling the after effects. I think it's when not if but when WW3 takes off. The shock to supply chains will be devastating. Where ever you are you will need to be well established long before things start to get nasty.
    Before choosing, the country you choose will have to be aligned with the USA or China so you will need to work out what political system you wish to live under. The country may not be actively involved, but they will be at least friends and I suspect China's track record speaks for itself and will demand much more. Tiny countries may rapidly flip and flop. Most countries will expect you to help defend the country you have chosen, so unless tiny you will be involved.
    - A country that will accept you.
    - A country where you can fluently speak the native language. You will be treated with suspicion although as a foreigner that will most probably still occur.
    - A country that is already self sufficient. If receiving foreign aid, that will most probably stop abruptly. If having to receive shipments of essential items, that will become erratic and expensive and impossible from non aligned countries.
    - You will need a place where you can grow your own food and you neighbors are doing likewise, or your food will vanish. So countries like Greenland are not a real option.
    - You will need to be energy self sufficient so small scale wind/solar and batteries. I'm all for small scale renewables, but not the Grid scale. That means a very windy or sunny location.
    - You will need to be water self sufficient.
    - You will need some livestock especially Hens.
    - A country big enough if the enemy is passing they won't take the country over while passing or at least not be raped and pillaged.
    - A country big enough to still be able to provide quality emergency medical services.
    - A country that at the moment doesn't have a problem with law and order.
    - Far enough away and of low importance that you won't be bombed or big enough that you can find a nice area out of the way to hide.
    For countries that fit the bill New Zealand for English speakers is best.
    Next would be a semi remote area in Australia or Canada.
    The neat thing about Australia, as a citizen, you have automatic permanent residency in New Zealand, the New Zealanders have the same rights.

      New Zealand and Paraguay are both excellent choices during times of chaos. Self-sufficiency is the key, including water, food, and electricity. Plus, you want to be in a country friendly to immigrants on all levels. 🙂

      what countries do you think would be the best for Europeans?

    • @jumper123910
      @jumper123910 5 месяцев назад

      @@cluelessangel5292 These are the questions I have asked myself.
      Access to the country? can you stay legally?
      Can you speak and read the local language fluently and understand the culture?
      Am I happy to live here for at least 10 years?
      Does the country have good amenities, Hospitals, pharmaceutical storage, the willingness and money to spend more to keep these institutions going?
      Is the country / region conducive to small scale agriculture? Are there long growing seasons, plenty of access to water.
      Do you have a high level of local knowledge of the area you are interested in moving to?
      If the answer is NO I would avoid them.
      Is the country dependent on foreign aid? That will stop or have serious strings attached .
      Is the country a net importer of food and Energy? International logistics will be one of the first casualties.
      Is the country politically and criminally stable? Are there large gated communities for protection. Civil unrest will grow fast, is there a likelihood of a coup.
      Is the area you wish to set up camp near anything of interest that the enemy may wish to bomb? They may accidently miss and hit you.
      If any of the above is a YES I would avoid those countries / regions.
      What is your plan?
      Do you intend it to be a long holiday sitting on the beach being served Pina Colada’s, or are you planning to grow your own food and be basically self sufficient?
      If you are planning a long holiday it most probably won’t happen, so everything below assumes you want to be at least partially self sufficient.
      Do you know the area where you want to move to? For example I live in Victoria Australia, some parts are Desert and some parts are Temperate Rain Forest. You don’t want to try and be self sufficient in the desert (some people can do it, but they have accumulated a lot of special skills), some parts are prone to flooding, other parts prone to severe bushfires.
      Local ordinances, can you have chickens for example?
      Even if you are a great backyard gardener in England for example, what varieties grow best there may not be the best varieties for Victoria Australia, but may work in Tasmania Australia. You need to get that all sorted long before you need to rely on your garden.
      Food security. If living in the city even if you have a great garden and your neighbours don’t, they will be over the fence at night stripping almost ripe produce.
      Do you want batteries and solar for example? (For Tesla batteries there is about a 12 month wait).
      If your plan is wit until WW3 has started, rock up to another country with your wish list, I think you are going to be very disappointed, even if you do have millions of dollars to splash about.
      Assume the war will last for 4 years, it will take 2 or 3 years at least to establish yourself in your new home, preferably more to build up stores establish citrus and fruit trees and most probably a year or so to sell up and move back if that is your plan, maybe longer depending on where you want to return to, depending on damage.
      The next question is when will WW3 start? As that will dictate some options. For the best guidance look at WW2. When did WW2 start? I would suggest if you were in Poland Sept 1 1939 (Germany Invades), If you were in the USA Dec 7 1941 (Pearl Harbour) and I would suggest for most Americans, they were not even aware of a war (I’m not talking about losing loved ones). The weapons of today may change that e.g. the EMP bomb, cyber attacks.
      Countries I would avoid :-
      All latin American countries, as I think they all receive foreign aid and security is tenuous at the best of times with many of them;
      The same goes for African countries;
      Singapore as it's a small country and imports nearly all it's food and energy and hard to run away from if you need to run away;
      Middle East some are having a good crack at the moment, with others looking on nervously.
      South Pacific countries receive foreign aid and importers of a lot of food, technical expertise and energy and many hate strangers and a number are prone to coups.

      The assumption is the world splitw China, Russia, Iran vs the west
      New Zealand would be number one, but very difficult to immigrate to (blame Australia for that), certain parts of Australia, but again hard to immigrate to and certain areas more prone to attacks Melbourne and Sydney as the main ports (excluding minerals that China wouldn't attack).
      Canada, but a long prep time would be required due to very cold Winters and I don't know how easy immigration is.
      Some more remote parts of the USA, other locations in USA will be very high risk.
      This also depends on where the hot spots of the war are as nearly all of Europe will be on the same side, Germany won't be popping over to their neighbours for a little hostile visit so a number of European countries, most probably the ones that were part of the USSR will be under the biggest threat and most risky. There will also be high risk areas where infrastructure is.
      Warmer parts that allow longer food growing seasons plenty of sun for solar are preferable so remote areas of Southern France, Southern Greece and Southern Italy. Spain maybe problematic with Catalan.

    Analysis like this fails to account for second-order effects of a war.
    First, and foremost, being trade disruptions. A lot of smaller countries rely on global trade networks to maintain their viability in some form or another, usually food or fuel. _That goes away with the oceans being a warzone._ Food, medicine, fuel, raw materials, finished good- all disrupted, meaning economic upheavals in weaker places like Paraguay, Uruguay, Singapore, Tanzania, Mauritius, etc.
    Second, chaos breaking out _somewhere_ prompts others breaking out elsewhere. We're already seeing this in Venezuela annexing most of Guyana while the attention of world powers remains split betwen Ukraine, israel, and the Sahel region of Africa. Meanwhile, Ethiopia and Eritrea are looking to go to war also soon- and as that also hits on Red Sea/Gulf of Aden maritime traffic (already in trouble due to the Houthis in Yemen taking shots at shipping vessels) it's not ignorable.
    Third, the combined effects of the first two means massive refugee migration- which will turn violent fast and become a flashpoint in itself. Those that have not will flood to where the haves have, and will not take "No" for an answer. What refugees outside of major powers remain get overwhelmed by this human wave like a zombie film, or you get necessary violence used to maintain security and order that would otherwise be considered a human rights violation.
    As WW3 will _not_ be nuclear (because no one benefits from that, _and_ the nukes aren't even confirmed to be fit for purpose), it will be the case that the safest places to be will be deep within the major powers (to be far from potential violence) on farming/ranching homesteads and nearby towns.
    Go home, Western man. You'll not be better off anywhere else.

    • @jumper123910
      @jumper123910 5 месяцев назад +1

      That depends. The cities will be no go we already have serious juvenile gangs from various different cultural backgrounds creating havoc. If you think that can be solved by grabbing gun to protect yourself think again. For all intents and purposes guns are illegal in Australia and apart from criminals and law enforcement there are no guns (farmers may have one or 2).
      Next you need to know where to move to. Even around major cities there are low rain fall areas and when we get droughts they can last for 10years.
      My plan that I'm actively working on is to get a couple of acres 1 hectare within 80min commute from my capital city in an area safe from bushfires and floods, put in a decent size solar system 15kW with 16kWh of batteries, 150k liters of water tanks, establish a small bird proof orchard, fox safe hen house and veggie patch. Get 2 freezers a freeze dryer and perfect my canning skills. I will watch the world go by. I won't be conscripted as I have a medical condition, but I expect to either work professionally (IT) for the war effort or be involved in guarding critical infrastructure. I will happily teach my neighbors how to grow food, so when food does get tight they will be growing their own, so instead of trying to steal mine we will be swapping food.

      @@user-ft6pw5pl7e It depends from where. Papua joined to Papua New Guinea is part of Indonesia, you can almost walk to Australia at low tide. I believe WW3 will occur in less than 10 years and we could have already seen a long fuse lit. I believe China will let a few nukes fly and at the very start of the war but they will be EMP and one has Australia's name on it. China will need even more resources Steel and Coal for the war effort. The US will find it hard to retaliate against something China will deny, it hasn't hurt anyone at least directly and with little effort they can get the ports and rail for minerals working very quickly and really put Australia under their thumb. There will eventually be pushback, but with communications down, chaos in the east coast cities and the remoteness of the mines and ports, their only threat is the US sinking the ships in the now fortified South China Sea.

    • @jumper123910

      @@user-ft6pw5pl7e That depends, if you find an Eastern Brown snake, Crocodile or Blue ringed octopus to play with or jump in front of a tram most probably you will die.
      I'm also not suggesting you hide in a basement for the rest of your life, life is to be lived. Take measured risks for me I love riding motorbike and Skydiving and I'm not talking about having gone on a birthday tandem jump, I hold a state title for formation (Rel Work).
      If you expect the government to look after you in tough times your screwed. As an ex Army Reserve Officer I hope to be given a role (light duties as I came down with Type 1 Diabetes and I have a 9 month supply). I grew up well out of the city, by moving back to a similar locale it means I can keep chickens again have a bigger veggie garden, more solar panels, so if WW3 doesn't happen and I really hope it doesn't, I have gained and if it does happen I have really gained. Many senior politicians around the world, respected news outlets and commentators are talking about WW3. Have a look around you with all the 'wars' at the moment, then have a look at military history, look at the egos of many of the world's dictators. If your smart you will thrive, if you are a lemming well you will follow your kind off the cliff (I know that is a myth). Where is that Aussie can do spirit?
      Everything I'm doing is not for WW3, but it will be a massive bonus, I should be able to ride the war out in comfort and hopefully be able to assist family and friends.
      Fresh cheap Eggs is a bonus
      Fresh cheap Veggies is a bonus
      Surge protection if a lightning strike and it will protect me from all but a direct EMP blast double bonus.
      Solar Panels and batteries which means cheap reliable power bonus, blackout proof for freezers double bonus
      Learn canning and Freeze Drying skills, cheap quality canned goods a bonus.
      Get your amateur radio licence and you get to talk to or at least repeat off the ISS or small satellites get your mates into it and if the worst does happen at least you can still communicate a bonus.
      Even in a flat you can store tins under your bed, a small propane stove, plenty of batteries and don't forget the water and loo paper. At least you will be comfortable during the next blackout / load shedding event and worst case give you time to plan your next move. You are obviously at least curious by looking at this channel.
      As far as I can see the only negative is a longer train ride to and from the office, but lots of positives and that is without a war. If food became scarce during the pandemic, imagine what a war will do?
