If you buy things solely because they are “on sale”, you are not saving anything. A deal is only a deal if you need the item(s) to begin with.

Has to be one of the best quick witted response one liners in the history of news telecast 😅
That's why I don't shop at Kroger with their BUY MORE SAVE MORE deals. I don't need eight cans of soup, six tubes of toothpaste or, ten bags of cheese curls. You'll notice it's all snack foods or convenience foods. You never find fresh produce like that.
I don't like those sales where you have to buy a quantity to get the sale or you pay full price. If an item is 3 for $6 but you must buy 3, how am I saving money if I am buying more than I want or need? Those might be good if you have a family but if you are by yourself, why would you need the extra quantity?
A lot of those sales don't require you to buy 5 or 10 items, they just tell you that to get you to purchase that many. Usually 1 to 2 items will get you the sale.

Free shipping is a good deal. Just buy the things you NEED in the amount that gets you free shipping. Make a list. It's not even hard.
Really take a hard look at your spending. Only truly spend if you need it, or you're saving a ton on something. Most name brands are just brands; go generic. One card I do like is Apple Card, because the high-yield savings account you can open with it (and need the card to open it). It's a game of trying to hit savings targets because it shows you the chart over time of how much you have (or had). So when I budget several months out with estimated costs, that's one element I try to keep pushing towards a savings goal. Next I need to tackle investments, but once I have that savings saved up, I can move to the next goal and so on. It's all possible (and I'm still significantly behind for my future-future), but you do have to pay careful attention to it and work on it day by day, week by week, etc.)
It’s basically the reason Costco exists.
Spending more than coming in?? Isn't that what Congress does every day??
You can avoid this by changing your mindset about money.
I made a list of things that are worth doing with this in a spreadsheet (Costco lol) and it turned out it was only about 12-14 items (like diapers). It's really not worth it for so many things.
I think spaving for lots of ppl is an ego thing " look at the savings I got" " look at the wise decision I made"
Corporation and the media are working together to set new habits, people are tired of the this excessive price gouging.
Please don't get fouled.
Save your money and wait, force these corporations to lower the price.
Buy only what you need, trust me, you are not missing anything that you can't buy later.

....the term sounds somewhat like an oxymoron to me. If the character that Steve Martin portrayed wanted to do things right, he would have just bought three packs of hotdogs and two packs if buns to even things up, or two packs of hotdogs and one pack of buns along with a can of pork and beans to make a meal with those extra four hotdogs.
