Remarc was the one producer who made me fall in love with Jungle, it's like he opened up the whole genre for me, after listening to his tunes, I could apreciate Goldie, Ray Keith, Bizzy B, Tom and Jerry, etc. I'm not English and I certanly wasn't around during the Hardcore/Jungle heydays in the 90s, but geez, finding his muisic on the internet was equivalent to finding punk! Big up Remarc, we're still brockin wide to your killer riddims, selectah!
I also find it amazing how Remarc and some others (Bizzy B certainly did it too) could ride the line between funk and f*cked up in their tracks so well. I mean, Remarc can be credited as the major influence on the creation of breakcore, ok, but unlike the aforementioned genre, Remarc's tunes are so fun, so danceble, they can literally mash up a party! Funk + F*ck up = funked up!
Can one resist wondering what would've happend if most of the Junglist didn’t succumb to the media pressure to vilify the genre back in 95? I mean, Remarc was one of the few producers who kept having real gansta vibes in his tunes after 95, and was never ashamed of the relationship between the genre and Jamican culture. Instead of a bunch of Junglist becoming Garage producers cuz they were dissapointed with the blandness of the Jungle rebrand (aka DNB), they could've absorbed Garage whole. I know that the racism in the media wasn't the only reason why Junglists were leaving Jungle back in the day. The genre had become too punitive and had no sexy vibes anymore, the combination of these factors had influenced the emergence of Garage as the leading London sound (which, thanks to god happend, right? Garage is wicked in its own right!). I think I'm just maintaining that the gangsta vibes have been present in the Hardcore Continuum genres at least since 93 and never went away, hence Grime came into fruition inside the Garage scene! --- bwt, I've always imagined Remarc as a Grime producer, the whole energy of his tunes is Grime! It's easy to picture Remarc and Roll Deep together in pirate radio set!
I've been following this channel since Johnny Jungle video. It's just getting better with every upload. This video easily falls into my Top 5 from this channel. I appreciate all the time and effort you put into researching these legendary music artists and songs.
The saxon v addies clash sample video clip looks like it was taken from the world sound clash.. in Roller Express Edmonton London...1993 &1994 sanctury
Props for the video. Remarc was a badman, king of the amen smasher, 93/94 he was untouchable imo (maybe Dillinja perhaps). Reminds me of long hot Summers and plenty of good times. Keep the videos coming 💪🏼
The Saxon Sound vs King Addies? What is shouted here? Sounds phonetically like "bar land pull oh". barlanpulloh? Been tryna figure this out for 30 years 🤣
