That factory. Oh my. This was poetry, technology, obsession all in one. This is why Porsche is my car brand. Nobody wants to strive for perfection like they do. Some day, not too distant I hope, I will be driving a 911.
I will NEVER drive a 911....too expensive for a vehicle.......yet I'm glad someone does....Its nice to see the art of engineering out on the road.
@@marcalvarez4890 I have the notion that I will likely feel the same when the time comes. The Cayman has become so good that it may actually be the better vehicle. Unfortunately prices are insane for even those baby 911s. Saw a GT4 at a dealership, guy didn't know if it was the RS but it was listed for 160k. That's Turbo S money a few years ago. I feel like Porsche keeps moving the bar on me; every time I feel like I will have the cash to buy one they jack up the prices to where I'm just not okay with them.

As a Porsche customer since 1974, their improvements in manufacturing is a quantum leap from the days of their pushing a metal cart along carrying the body shell. And it keeps improving! When I last got a factory tour they explained that they get 65 trucks a day supplying the parts, in production order, so that it operates like a well oiled machine. At that time my PTS cabriolet took 55 minutes to assemble from a painted body shell. The engine was 1+25 to assemble. Deming is alive and practiced every day at Zuffenhausen. Everything arrives Just In Time. When I ordered mine the list of options was 65 pages long. Today, it must be well over 100. Identical cars show up perhaps once a year. (It used to be once every 30 days). PTS is great, for the finishing touch on a bespoke automobile. Few manufacturers today can offer that.

Only Bently offers a similar amount of options isn't it? I think even they have cut back on the customer individuality they once had but to be fair I've not been a good autophile for a few years now lol

@2:58 you can clearly see the double wishbones suspension at the front on the GT3, pretty incredible how they can manufacture so many different variants on the same assembly line Porsche are masters at that, they can engineer such extreme variants and still manufacturable on the same production line.
Their handbuilt days are not soooo old. 😉

I love this. And I really love how there's no narrator creating false drama about "will the parts be on time, or will they have to shut down the whole line?" like there is in almost every car assembly line documentary.
Somethings there are no words for.... and leave to Porsche to have the class to know when to stay silent.

Let me tell you they stand behind their product, too. My Macan S transmission went just past the end of the warranty and they replaced it no charge. Would have been 19k.

Atlas Copco nutrunners explains the quality, from what I saw in the video it's both the PF4000 and 6000 assembly systems from Atlas Copco which provide extremly great tightenings with the PF6000 running the ETV STR61-70-13 and their STB's which models I couldn't quite decern. Love to see it!
