I had hypermobility of the thoracic spine with the lumber spine's stiffness and scapulothoracic fusion surgery. Also, cervical fusion with diskectomy. I had to swing my legs to sit forward, which occasionally caused my spine to go rigid. One day thoracic spine extended too far, causing nerve damage peripherally, causing immediate weakening of muscles below the chest. it feels like I have lost the middle of my back. when relaxed lying flat it feels like thoracic s[one and lumbar spine are not connected/ Spinal muscles are now atrophying. I have severe HBP I cannot breathe properly and do not sleep for days.CPAP is not helping me. The rib cage is rotated and lowered on the right side, and I do not think the intercostals or diaphragm are functioning. My abdomen fills up with fluid, and the abdomen is pushed up into the chest. I have atrophy of abdominal muscles completely with separation of ligament. I have severe dysphagia. I am losing the height between the thorax and lumbar region. I am convinced I damaged some nervous tissue, although an MRI and CT of the spine did not show it. If I damaged a nerve outside of the spine, is it possible that this is why it did not show up on MRI? It has definitely damaged the joint between the rib cage and the lumbar spine somehow. A spinal surgeon said I have a combination of DISH and Ankylosing spondylitis. He said this is unusual.
I was seen by Cleveland Clinic and diagnosed with dish. It's all subjective on how much a person can tolerate but they said spinal fusion is a remedy at some point down the road.
