I think Chris Perez being in Selena and los dinos was a special thing for the band and was a great addition to the band because it really make a difference, I think that's why A.B and Selena hire him to play in the band. I mean in addition it gave it a different sound to the band and with A.B's professionalism Selena and the rest of the Dinos it just worked out fantastically.

I can understand why her father was against his daughter marrying at a young age but everytime I hear Chris talk, I just think Selena was wise beyond her years because you can tell Chris is a pillar of a man, cool, great spirit.. she chose the right one.

to know that he’s back speaking to the family, is everything to me. because that’s how selena would’ve wanted it. when they fell out, it sucked, because for years they were so tight. now that it’s getting back to that point, her legacy can truly flourish now.

so she tells selena she had been raped in mexico and to come back to the motel alone with nobody else the next day to go to the hospital.
selena does that and we all know what happened after the hospital and going back to the motel.
sell it to others how "protective" and loving: chris, the father and brother were in the months before selena's death. they simply were not. too busy making music and counting concert cash to care for selena.

Selena took her to the hospital and found out Yolanda lied. Selena took Yolanda back to the hotel and thats when the tragedy happened. A Night before this Chris was with Selena in the same Hotel. There was no way to prevent this tragedy. Yolanda its despicable and manipulative and she found a way to get Selena alone, unfortunately.

it is documented in interviews after selena's death...that in early march 1995 Selena told her brother JR that she observed yolanda had bought a gun. and that selena told yolanda "get rid of the gun you will have no problem with my father". this is shown to be true/factual in that yolanda returned the gun to the pawn shop...there is evidence receipt of that. then about 6 days later yolanda goes back and re buys the same firearm.
so weeks before her death: the brother, father, husband ALL knew that yolanda had a gun. actually selena knew as well.
selena was an innocent young women..the father dating back to january 1995 when he cought yolanda embezzling $ should of forbid selena to have contact with her. yolanda STOLE $50K and the father, brother and husband just continue to allow selena to deal with yolanda.
they all knew also in january 1995 that yolanda had embezzled funds before and was cought and that yolanda had significant mental heath issues.
all of the above: the father does nothing but count concert cash and promote selena to make more $ as he allows selena to meet with a known criminal, nut and then in early march 1995 yolanda had a gun.
ALL the above is factual information dating back almost 30yrs. it is not "spin" or "just found" or rumor.
IF you want to believe that selena's death could not be prevented like IF a fan shot her at a concert or at a restaurant, believe what you want.
for MONTHS the family (particularly the father) knew about yolanda and did nothing. ZERO.
the dumb, stupid "loving" husband drives selena to meet with yolanda the night before she was killed. he sits his butt in the truck and does NOTHING as his wife selena goes in the sleazy motel to meet alone with yolanda. IF chris went in only OR if chris went with selena. then yolanda could not of told the BS lie of the "rape" to selena and for selena to "only come alone" the next day.
also chris remarried about 5 yrs after selena died. that is his right to move on with his life and such. but when you remarry YOU are no longer the widow (or widower) of that deceased spouse. but not. money man chris flys in for every selena event like IF they were still married and it was 1995.
chris picks up a check and flys home to his new wife and kids. with all in media and women fans saying "chris loves selena so much". i think he divorced his 2nd wife in 2011.

Nope, whether you believe in God or not, they will not be reunited in a romantic way when he dies. You have one shot to have Human Love and once you die its over. If you dont believe in God than the TV so to speak turns off and your gone, there is no one, just the void. I dont believe this version of the afterlife. If you believe in Jesus Christ well he explains nobody is married in Heaven. We are given new bodies and probablly what we found facinating on Earth will be a joke in Heaven. Its over. The best he can hope for is to make it to Heaven.

Mad respect for Chris, he was the only one who truly loved Selena for who she was inside. For her family to think that they needed to protect her legacy from Chris is ludicrous. He has never taken advantage or used her for his gain in any way. That said, he is a man of class and humble and genuine. Selena woukd be proud of this man she loved and married!
They all worked hard together as a family. I think Selena would want them to continue with Chris included of course m

I often think of who selena who would be. She comes to mind often. I was 7 dancing in my living room bring the tape out. Just watching her and crying to my mom & my mom was like this happened already .. she lost her life when I was 5 but listened to her music growing up.
What’s heart breaking with her passing, is all the things that should have and could have been. She could have been a grandmother right now!
I love how genuine Chris is. You can tell everything he says,he says from the heart and he means what he says. Also props to the interviewer. He asks the right questions and also lets the person he is interviewing just talk without interruptions

Chris is so humble and genuine, how can someone not love him? He always seem so respectful and understanding towards Selena and her family. Know Chris and AB started off as good friends , it’s sad

Nothing but respect for Chris Perez. He's lead a noble life despite suffering a tremendous tragedy so young, and has never tried to profit or exploit the memory of Selena. Definitely can't say that about the Quintanilla family, specially the dad.

Whatever sympathy the Quintanillas had over the death of Selena is now gone, since they're willing to profit off her memory however they can. My examples are perfect because they are currently being done. Lisa Marie Presley just passed away, guess who is trying to profit? Her mom who has been using the Presley last name even though she had a son by another guy ages ago. The same with Michael Jackson and many other celebrities who have passed away.

Selena's legacy is a business that makes money somebody has to run it, Abraham Q as much as an asshole as he might seem, he has had to do whatever to keep Selena from being taken advantage from the music industry sharks one of the best managers around.
I literally cried when he said he misses AB. I don't know how long it will take for both of them to fix their differences. It would be amazing if they could make music together again. I think Selena would be very proud. Thanks for letting us know more about Chris. God bless you both

i wouldn’t say it forever disappeared. chris has said that as the years have gone by, he’s gotten happier, he has two kids and makes a living doing what he loves. he’s not that miserable guy that he was in those early years after selena passed. a lot of people think chris still LOOKS sad but i think he in general has a droopy, resting sad face lmao

To see him brings me joy because he was a huge part of Selena and he has survived her loss, and eventhough he moved on remarried had kids you could tell Selena was his one true love. And the day she left she took a part of him with her he never got back. I hope her family gives him his rightful place he so deserves,Because he always showed respect and love for her legacy and family.
I think this is the best interview he's had, you focuses solely on Chris, almost every interview he's been in has been mostly about selena, and it's not easy for him to talk about her for long periods of time, even today, i feel i learned so much about chris in this interview, which i'd never seen in other interviews.
Everyone has to admit Chris is one cool laid back guy.
Chris is such a kind and gentle man… Selena and Chris were lucky to have each other.
He seems like such a genuine nice person. Like he is laid back doesn't want to be bothered and just chilled. Anyone else notice that no matter what has happend he NEVER speaks ill of her family. Not in any interview have I seen where he speaks bad or anything about her family. That to me alone says a lot about who he is as a person. Much love and respect to him. Selena and him are definitely goals for how you want someone to love you.
09:02 I cried because Suzzete is part of the memories, seeing her kids must feel like its part of his family to Chris, those are the little cousins his kids never met cause they were never born, those are kids Selena would love if she was here today.

Being a widow myself I know how hard it is talking about your loved one who has past. Doesn't matter how many years have gone by. The time you shared together is personal & you want to keep those memories close to your heart. I can tell that he still loves Selena and fantasizes what their life could have been & what they missed out on.
I really like Chris. I get the impression that he’s a good guy. When he talks about not showing up due to insecurity, that just shows he’s not narcissistic, he’s a caring guy who felt temporary insecurity like we all do from time to time.
It's the hardest things that matters, and Selena knew that. I'm so glad her and Chris said YES to their love story! God bless you, Chris! You are part of her legacy. You were HER love story and fairytale!!

Ran into Chris at an HEB here in San Antonio. He was with his son. I secretly went up to him and said hi knowing it would make a scene if people recognized him. He was very very nice and down to earth. Very sweet in his demeanor. Thank you for not shooshing me away Chris.

This was a very entertaining, insightful and refreshing interview. I’ve gotten to know Chris more after watching this and I can only say he makes me respect him even more. I also want to commend how respectful & polite Smooth Vega is in delivering his questions and asking the right ones that would allow Chris to open up more. Up to this day, you never hear Chris talk bad against the Quintanillas. Always kind words towards them. This is someone I want this generation to look up to. His moral values - the kindness in his heart, the love and dedication he has for his craft, his unconditional love for his family esp. his kids, while continuing to share Selena’s legacy 27 years later. I’ve never heard of this interviewer so I don’t if it’s the subject matter or interviewee, but this was an excellent session. I only found this after waking up feeling nostalgia for some Selena in my morning and this came across. Kudos to the host for pace, patience, quality questions, and cadence!! Very rare among podcasts. We ❤️ Selena AND Chris in Tx. I can totally appreciate his openness here and the host for allowing space for him.

That Selena Netflix series was supposed to be Chris and Selena’s love story from his book but Abraham sued him and then took over the series and he controlled it and got the money! I can’t stand them

I was 6 years old when Selena was killed. I had the McDonald’s cassette with Selena and the barrio boys! I was also a listened to all the Selena music I could I used to dance to her music and sing along all the time. She was a Latina like me, beautiful and talented above all sweet and true. I’m still heart broken and in awe every time I see the gorgeous talented amazing Queen of tejano music. The troll who took this amazing angel from the world, was a obsessed and selfish. She robbed us of so much more fashion, kindness and MÚSICA. I had a chance to sing with one of the barrio boys Selena’s part and I was too nervous and didn’t take it at a karaoke bar he was surprised I recognized him. I believe that Chris is still madly in love with Selena that really makes your life hard to go on all these years. I don’t know how he’s done it. I believe he’s going to love Selena the day he dies. She was a beautiful woman, a beautiful entertainer a beautiful person into this day. I am truly sad for the loss of Selena and I could never know how the parents felt such a tragic
So heartbreaking AB won’t talk to him. 😔 Why? Maybe he thinks somehow Chris could’ve stopped Selena from going that day? Not his fault! Selena had a huge trusting heart, that Yolanda manipulated! Chris loved Selena with all his heart, & still grieves for her to this day! I wish AB would realize this, after all this time! 💔
I want to say it’s more to deal with the lawsuit issues and what not, but I’m not 100% sure

Chris hasn't changed at all still calm sweet gentleman , innocent looking down to earth they were perfect for each other. And they were Lucky to work together and be together 24/7 together all the time and to think that one day before she passed she told her mom she was ready to have a baby and be a mom she wanted to be a stay home mom. 😭❤️❤️

I think because the majority of the fans are emotionally attached to their love story, like no one is gonna be good enough for him after selena....and they felt liked she was replaced

@MiAmorSelena not just the media but also the quintanilla family specially the father he felt like his daughter got replaced and hurts him which on chris part it wasn't like that ..
@@miamorselena367 Just fyi he didn't get divorced because of media pressure. At the time he remarried, despite being with his band, he wasn't in the public eye like he is now. He got divorced because his wife and him couldn't work out his drug and alcohol issues he had as a result of Selena's passing. Chris has gone on record to say, his remarriage was an attempt to downplay the impact of Selena's death in his life, he said he thought remarrying would help and it did, but it just unfortunately didn't work out.

Just love this guy, how’s he’s handled and grown from being Selena’s husband to coming into his own but remaining faithful to her memory and legacy. Tough balance but he nails it.
Listening to Chris talk i can see why selena fell in love with him he may had a bad boy reputation but u can tell he is a good man .

He is one of the most down to earth guy in this planet. I mean, his body language tell you everything about him, he could be bragging that he deserved a lot because he was his husband, but he has never made a living through her, as her family, sad to said but it’s true. When she spoke it sure didn't sound like our Selena. I just didn't get down with that. I hope your ok Chris. Chris has the most lovely personality, I never understood why her father thought he was inappropriate choice for a partner. Chris is the perfect gentleman who treats a woman with the utmost respect.
We don’t really know him though. The Quintanilla family does though.
It was said that Selena’s father saw him as a “rocker” and stereotyped him to be a bad boy but in reality was the complete opposite of that. In an old interview Selena quickly mentioned that he was a calm person. Which just shows his demeanor. Also her father did not want them to have a relationship due to Selena career / reputation. Honestly I can see why he saw Chris as a threat but misjudged cause clearly he made Selena soooo happy
I love Chris, I can always listen to his stories his voice is soo soothing to me. Great man. 💕
