Her death makes me so sad cause it just doesn't make sense. She worked all of her life to reach that point and then all was shattered in one day, just for the evil heart of a human. She deserved to stay longer, enjoy her marriage, have fun on stage, be loved by her family, and all the things that were taken away from her. So young, man. It just doesn't make sense and it truly never will. But she was a vibrant person and at least she got to enjoy love, from her husband, family and fans before things ended how it ended. Rest in peace Selena.

Not just that. Her husband told her not to go alone. She left early and without him intentionally. She also went back into the room with her after she took her to the hospital because she told her she was raped and there she found out she was lying. Something else was going on. Embezzlement but no lawsuit or cops called??? Financial records she couldn't get some other way or that she couldn't get someone else to get?? What records were they?? She also told her husband she had had a gun before. It's so confusing. If something illegal was going on I think she would have said but then again she never admitted to embezzling any money so if there was some funny financial business then she probably wouldn't say anything.

By 1994 - the year before - she had already performed all over the U.S., including many cities that some might not associate with Tejano music, as well as in Mexico, in the Caribbean, and Central and South America, as far away as Argentina. News organizations from literally all over the world covered her service, and a church in Spain, which was designed to hold 500 people, held a memorial mass for her. 1,500 people showed up, even though she never got the chance to perform in Spain. Now, Tupac & Big is a different story. I was a huge fan! It's crazy when you think of it... Selena died in 95, Tupac 96, and Biggie 97. During that 3 year period we lost 3 legends in music history. Still hard to believe they are all gone. They are all gone along with many other musical legends we have lost as of 2020. They will always stay alive though the music as if they were still here. One of the few instances when people say gone but not forgotten and its actually true. People still cry when they talk about her. Kids who weren't born until 10-15 years after her death know all of her songs. Every time you walk into a Mexican restaurant here in Houston, there's a selena song playing. That's what legendary means, when you still make an impact after your gone.

      Me too
I was just in my first year living in Fort Worth Tx and was a freshman in high school.
I never heard of her til that day and everyone at school was sad - even the staff.
Every dance we had ended each time with “Dreaming of You” and I loved that song so much I bought the Full CD

That demon planned to murder her because she was enraged that she got fired by Selenas dad. It was a revenge killing to hurt her father. Poor Selena she was so naive and innocent and that roach knew Selena was like that and took advantage of her good nature to lure her to the motel.

She thought she owned Selena and when the dad separated them that made her snap I’m sure....if I can’t “have her” neither can anyone else! She’s sick!!!!!! Possessive/obsessive/crazy/delusional and if only Selena understood how dangerous she was already....even though Selena was fed up she still had enough heart to go see Yolanda face to face to only be stabbed in the back....literally(shot) Yolanda.....I don’t even know how she is living with her decision to take her life.....

So then starting researching her Amazingly talented young lady with such a special soul , her voice was incredible such emotion, strong I love her music 🎶 so sad , but her memory still lives on in 2021 . Her life ended so tragically by a Monster, . But Selena’s voice lives on through all of her fans . She was truly a angel

I didn't know of Selena or her music when when this happened. Being a Norwegian/Irish kid from Iowa I didn't know anything about Latin music. But I remember watching the coverage of this all day with my dad. I didn't understand why my dad was crying and so sad. John Lennon was my dad's hero, I think he really connected with the sadness felt by her fans. In the next days, and to this day we listened to a lot of Selena's music and found there is no way to not love it. So uplifting, songs that stick in your head, even if you don't understand the words you feel the meaning. I will always pass along her music and this bright light of a person to my children and anyone who will listen.

Beautifully said. For some reason, there's just something about who Selena was and her talent and beauty and the entire package that just touched so many people's hearts, even to this day. I can't think of any other artist's death that has had such an emotional impact on so many people, even those who had never heard of her until years and years after her death

When you look at Selena's life, even though she left us young, her life was more full than most people will ever live, even past the age of 23. Some people are truly angels who were only meant to be with us for a set period of time, but the things they accomplish in that small window defy logic.
Selena's life and her impact are perfect examples of that. For someone's life to be that brief and still to this day, continue to be celebrated and re-discovered by new generations tells you how special she truly was.
All of the young girls who had the privilege of meeting her or going to a concert, now have daughters of their own and telling their stories about who she was and her talent. It all comes full circle.
May "The Queen of Tejano Music" forever rest peacefully.

Years later when J Lo did the biopic
It hit me that was the young superstar I remembered back in San Antonio. I also purchased some of her music for my iPod. Don't speak the language or understand what she's singing but I love 💕💗 the music. Love you Selena 💞💗💕🌹🌺🌸🏵️🌼🌻💮

I love the 90s nostalgia I get from this footage, revisiting old news specials like this bring back memories but breaks your heart all over again, I was almost 4 at the time, didn’t know who Selena was when I heard the sad news but when I saw the movie in 97 that’s when it hit me back then how big of a loss this was, now as an almost 30 year old man it’s hitting me even harder because she still could’ve been here among us living her life, so many little things could’ve been done to protect her and save her, if only we could turn back the hands of time, but it’s too late 😔🙏🏿

I am from Ohio, but I remember when I was 15 I was visiting my family in Laredo Texas and this guy just ran up to my uncle and said Selena just was shot and killed. I remember looking around and just seeing people all out on the streets just crying. I remember driving by the record stores and the lines were out the door. I cried so hard. Still to this day listening to her and remembering that day makes me cry. I’m 40 years old now. She had something about her that connected everyone to her. Such a kind hearted person who stayed very humble as she became more well known. My daughter is 13 and loves her music. We miss you so much Selena!

I’ll never forget that year. I’ll never forget where I was when I discovered Selena. I was waiting on my mom to come out the store. Selena’s song was playing on the car radio. This older guy was sitting by the store. He said, “Isn’t that the girl that got killed!” I didn’t have a clue. I went around searching for information. It took me a while to find out, because the internet wasn’t popular like it is today. I became a fan instantly. This still breaks my heart. I wish to God she hadn’t trusted Yolanda and met up with her. It’s just tragic.

It's 1:06 PM on March 31, 2021. She died 26 years and one minute ago today. I can confidently say that Selena is well loved, admired, and remembered. I wasn't even alive yet when she passed away, I don't speak much Spanish, and I'm white, but I love and miss her as if I've known her my whole life. She had a lot of energy and talent as a singer, but she was an even greater treasure as a person. She was a very friendly, charismatic person who could make you feel like you were her best friend even if you'd only just met her. She was passionate about everything she did, and dedicated wholeheartedly to the people she loved, from her parents and siblings, to her husband, to her friends, to her fans. I'm glad she's now regarded as a legend, because she deserves it. I'm also happy to see articles, videos, specials, and interviews in English, not only so that I can understand them, but it also shows that the interest in and love for Selena is everywhere. She is one of the greats, not only musically but also as a human being.

It's been 25 years since she's been gone but it still hurts to think about all her accomplishments her future endeavors and the children she never got to have with her husband. May she continue to Rest in Peace. It's a lot of celebrity deaths in the music industry/hollywood but for some reason hers seem to get to me the most, hers Aaliyah and Lefteye because they were all so young and died so horribly and trajic. I like to think the three of them linked up in heaven and got to know each other 🙏😓
