    Really great. Now I need to learn to apply it to my slot floor. :)

      I saved this video, so I'm pretty sure I do. Thanks again for the detailed explanation.

    Great video but how do i identify the unique ID# to the plots?

    • @NextGenBIGuru
      @NextGenBIGuru  2 месяца назад

      Hello 👋. You can either use any field (for example hyperlink field) of the Polylines entity in Autocad 3D map to store any value for each Polylines and when you export make sure to select the field you used along with the exported shape file. Or simply you can make AutoCad to assign unique IDs for each plot, check minute 3:50

    Great video! I'll try to apply this in my projects. Is there a way to add tags or text into the Maps? Would be useful to be able to see the name of diffetent areas in the dashboard as well

      Hi there. Thank you. Yes there is but not using visual. I will cover it in the next video in few days

    Is it possible to automate this manual process using Alteryx

    • @NextGenBIGuru
      @NextGenBIGuru  12 дней назад

      Hello 👋, I highly doubt you can automate the part related to Autocad using Altrex, you can use Dynamo

    Why to geolocate the shape if you never display the geolocation map, anyway to activate that as a base map?

      Hello 👋 - Yes you can change the style of map you are using from Mapbox

    Nice vid! Im trying to do the same thing, but the map I am using doesnt come from CAD. It is a plot plan image. Can I still do it? Also, what if I need to update a square from "available" to "sold"? And I mean, I would be constantly changing the status of the squares. What is the easiest way to do it?

    • @NextGenBIGuru
      @NextGenBIGuru  Год назад

      Hi Eduard.
      For the first part, unfortunately this visual only works with GIS map (in json format). So you need to import the image into the AutoCad Map 3D and try to trace it with closed Polylines.
      For the second part. Simply update the status in the CSV file and refresh the report. If you are trying to have it online, I would link the report to online excel instead of CSV. And you update the status (you can allow others too). And schedule refresh for the report or refresh it manually as you need.

    I believe that using synoptic design is a bit simplier

    • @NextGenBIGuru
      @NextGenBIGuru  Месяц назад

      Hello 👋. This is true it is much easier. However it works for simple design but with big scale geometries it gets much more complex. So if it works for your project, it is easier to

    Hi. Thanks for the video. I could apply this to thw project I'm currently working on. Though i have one question, when uploading CSV file, can i substitute this by linking directly from Dynamic 365 Business Central since i want the maps in power bi to be live

    • @NextGenBIGuru
      @NextGenBIGuru  Год назад +1

      Hi there. You are welcome.
      I assume you are referring to the data linked to the map. If this is the case, you are correct you can use any data source including Dynamics. Just make sure to use the same reference (IDs in this tutorial) between the map elements/plots and the data source. Best of luck!

      @@NextGenBIGuru thanks for replies. One more thing, since there's no naps coordinates for Cambodia in tge coordinates options in AutoCAD maps, can i use other coordinates in order to proceed cuz when exporting to Power BI, whether its on a map or not is the not priority for us

    • @NextGenBIGuru
      @NextGenBIGuru  Год назад

      Yes, you can use any coordinates. for shape map, real location in the world is not critical. Just use any coordinates and apply the projection on MapShaper as explained in the tutorial and you should be fine.

      @@NextGenBIGuru but when i try to use the console code -proj wgs83 like shown in the video, all of my polygones are gone. what should i do? ( i use the coordinates as shown in the video)

    • @NextGenBIGuru
      @NextGenBIGuru  Год назад

      I am not sure if this was a typo but it should be “- proj wsg84”
      Also it can be that your polygons are out of bounds (outside the word). So do the following:
      - set some origin in AutoCad map 3D
      - turn on the map in AutoCad
      - make sure that your polygons are inside the world map, if not move them
      - Also while you are at it, make sure that they are scaled properly

    Could you display 3d shapes (similar to a 3d pdf and rotate then) ?

    • @NextGenBIGuru
      @NextGenBIGuru  2 месяца назад

      You can do 3D extruded shapes. But it will not give you much flexibility to work with 3D detailed shapes. For reference check out this tutorial: Boost Your Dashboards: Engaging 3D Maps In Power BI With Mapbox - 2024 Guide | NextGen BI Guru

    Are there any way to combine the polygons visualization with the road map, or satellite map? Maybe some settings in the mapshaper and/or Power BI... ?

    I'd like to use this technique with a building floor plan to track room status during construction. Is there a way to do this without the correcting the projection? I need the floor plan to remain in the same position that I trace the polygons in, and doing the projection distorts the image. Also, how would I go about adding an image of the floorplan underneath the polygons? I have not been able to export the xref using MAPEXPORT.

      Hello there 👋🏼, in your case I suggest to take a different approach, use PureViz visual, I believe dimensions don’t matter to you so design in as SVG in Powerpoint and track the edges using free shape in PowerPoint. It is much simpler. Check the below tutorial: Animating Power BI Dashboards: Race Bars & Infographics Tutorial - P1 | NextGen BI Guru
