In my opinion, this film was the scariest one out of the franchise followed by The Conjuring 2. I was absolutely terrified, but super pleased with how it turned out. Annabelle: Creation stills scares me every time I watch it. The Conjuring 2 still chills me too the bone.

People who say this isn't scary are the same people who only go to a horror flick with friends. You'll never catch them going alone. What they do is sit with their tight group of friends and giggle the whole time while on their cell phones. They won't admit that they're actually freaked out. It's a coping mechanism. The worst movies to go to are PG-13 horror one's because it's full of teens who are terrified at what they're watching but they won't shut up and they end up ruining the movie for the one's who actually want to enjoy it. Afterward, you'll hear them walking out of the theater saying things like "That wasn't scary" or, "That sucked" Deep down, they were frightened the whole time. You can tell the adults who do it. They will post on these message boards saying none of this is scary to try and receive instant gratification. Deep down, they will NEVER admit what movies have actually freaked them out.

Insidious XXX Why? Jumpscares work a few times when you first see them. Then after that, you kinda become immune to them. They are a cheap tatic, and instead of creating true fear, they create a small burst of fear that dissolves quickly.

Literally just finished watching this on Netflix and I have to say, the acting by everyone is pretty decent, especially the kids. But the priest at the end made me chuckle, " The doll was the conduit to evil,now it's just a doll again. Now, which one of you gets it? "The girls, " Get the f*ck outa here, burn it, destroy it ". Youre right, of course you cant tell much from the trailers, but if its anything like the first one it wont be scary. Most horror movies rely too much on jumpscares and arent actually scary at all. IMO sinister is the only recent horror movie to play it right, creepy vibes, great story, AND jumpscares.
Normally, movie trailers are edited like this. The trailer for the first Conjuring made the movie look like a jump scare fest, but the movie itself was masterfully told with atmosphere, tension, and camera work.
I HOPE IT is more. I completely agree with this though. The doll takes even more of a backseat after not even being alive in the last one.
I watched this when I was in grade 5 by my self in my moms bed room in the dark at night...... and now as a 13 year old. I’m not traumatized. Take this as you please

Same bro, horror movies are being spoiled by the trailers, and once you watch the movie for the first time, it's going to be predictable. That was my #1 problem with The Conjuring and the first Annabelle movie, all of the jump scares and chill thrill scenes were in the trailer, and I have a feeling this movie is going to be the same as the rest

For all those complaining about jump scares, maybe you expect the monsters in horror movies to be polite and maybe announced all their entries, with an "excuse me", or "pardon me" or "would you be so kind as to run away from me, I want to kill you"
Better yet, lets have these horror films take place on a sunny bright day outside with no shadow so we can see where were all the monsters and demons are.

The first film was a great one to start with but tbh creation was much scarier. People love to be such a “originalist” and will always say the first is better no matter what, but there’s some parts of creation that are so unsettling that I still get intimidated to see 4 almost 5 years later.

Amazing movie loved the mood how the darkness was and how you couldn't really see the devil in the dark the tones and feelings it gave the scares the acting amazing this movie is a modern classic and shows that sequels are sometimes better than the original

Yo I watched this movie with my friends without watching the trailer. It was so good!!! The twist and tie-ins to the first movie were so cool. Also the child actors were amazing. I really felt scared with them.
