The leader of Stray Kids Bang Chan is friends with Lisa from Blackpink. Also, most of Blackpink is made with their producer, Teddy. where as Stray Kids self produce and compose and write their stuff.

@@idcabturopinion i think in this new Blackpink era ("post born pink era") we'll see Blackpink doing their own writing & producing (we already have seen it in born pink album)... The reason being new Blacklabel GG audition just announced and Teddy himself will be handling that so he'll not be as much involved with the girls as he used to be.

This is the most Korean song they've written so far.
The basic premise is that they're clapping back at critics who say they're a 'noise' group, who have no artistry or real value, and who don't deserve their success.
With this song, Thunderous, the Stray Kids are saying "actually, we're damned proud of how we sound, who we are, all we've achieved and how hard we've worked to get where we are. If we're too 'noisy' for you, if you don't like us, that's your choice. But Stray Kids will not compromise for ANYONE."
In writing the song and producing the video, they've included a lot of uniquely Korean phrases and elements, a few examples of which are their use of pansori (a Korean form of instrumental / theatrical storytelling), certain instruments, their clothing, the buildings in the background, the use of the blue floating "goblin fire," certain phrases such as the one about the woodcutter, etc.
Then there are things like the arm movements that created the "laughing" sound, the "why you mad, why you sad, etc" lyrics, the symbolism of the crows that were flying around (in Korea, crows symbolize people who gossip and spread false rumors), etc.
Thunderous is a cleverly-written masterpiece, to be honest. I love it.

I slept on Stray Kids and kpop for YEARS. I'm an older convert to the world AND Stray Kids is pretty much the ultimate group for me, but DUDE...I'M ALL IN.
What I love about SKZ, is that in a world of so much that is the same, their talent stands out. Their discography is deep and they span all genres (pop, rap, hiphop, rock ,ballads, etc. Their sound and performance is just above everything else in the industry and they DO IT THEIR WAY. It's impressive that they actually have a hand in the development of their sound. They all sing, rap, dance, and write their music. Their producing team (3Racha) has written HUNDREDS of songs with so much more that prob hasn't been registered. The visuals, dancing, vocals are so very appealing and to top it off they genuinely seem to love their work and their fans. You won't ever hear anything with them without them talking about Stay (the fandom).
I have been around for a while, so I don't waste time listening to stuff my ears/heart just don't like. Stray Kids is the real deal. My recs:
-Anything off Maxident, Oddinary (no skip albums for me). Venom, Charmer, Freeze, Chill, Give Me Your TMI, Taste, 3Racha, all fantastic.
-Domino, Easy, Victory Song, Hellevator, My Universe, Airplane, My Pace, Christmas Evel
-You've already heard God's Menu and Thunderous, but, man, dive into their discography. It's impressive.
    Welcome to the madness!
    STRAY KIDS WORLD DOMINATION!

The two rappers who started the song (Changbin and Han) and the one with orange hair (Bang Chan) are the producers and lyricists of Stray Kids, they are called 3RACHA! Bang Chan is the leader of the group (he chose the members by himself), main producer and makes the beats and arrengements, while Changbin and Han are in charge mostly of lyrics and flows. Nowadays, all members can and do write lyrics and take part in producing. Just to tell how talented and hard working these guys are! Stray Kids always win when it comes to talent. They are one of the most unique groups in K-Pop. They produce their own songs from writing, producing and sometimes doing their own choreography. Most K-Pop groups sing what others write and dance to what others choreograph so have no artistic input in "their" music.
Stray Kids is what K-Pop should be about:
    talent, not popularity.

This was so great to wake up to!! THANK YOU! As many had stated in the comments, 3RACHA is their production team/lyricists. They're involved top to bottom when in comes to SKZ. They consist of the first two rappers on this track Changbin (sometimes called Binnie) and Han, along with the bright orangeish-red haired guy, Bang Chan (sometimes called just Chan or Chris). They make the beats, the lyrics, the flow, decide who will song what part etc. All of the guys are pretty involved now, with many having subunit tracks they had a hand in writing etc (subunit means, not all of them and are often broken down into 3RACHA, Dance and Vocalists - but seriously, each member can do everything). Chan is the oldest (25 or 26, I forget) and the leader and picked each member himself. He is credited with something like 130(?) songs (his wikipedia page lists them all ). I can't stress enough just how talented these kids are. I think next you should do "Back Door", though really you can't go wrong with any of their stuff. "Venom", "Maniac" are also quite good. Last thing, yes, their music videos are great! They're quickly becoming known as the ones with all the great transitions in their videos. I'm just so happy you two liked them! Thank you so much for giving them a fair listen!

actually most, if not all, stray kids members are big blackpink fans (if you want to check them out they actually did a remix of gods menu with dudududu on a competition show they were on, God's dudududu, and even predebut they sang blackpink's as if its your last in the survival show they did to be able to debut as stray kids) and the leader, bang chan, has been close friends with lisa ever since trainee days (he actually said they coincidentally moved to korea on the same day and then they met through a mutual friend, Bambam of got7, that used to be in the same dance group with lisa back in thailand and trained with bangchan in jyp, their company). that being said some of their biggest songs like god's menu and thunderous have a very much in your face effect that reminds of blackpink title tracks, that's how i first got into them, but you should check out some of their more diverse stuff, my personal favorites are side effects, easy, cheese, all in, ssick, charmer, mixtape oh, mixtape time out, slump and chill.
And yes, while currently blackpink is the biggest girl group, not only in kpop but globally, stray kids are probably the second biggest male group currently, or if not the second maybe a close third, but anyways they're totally killing it!

With Blackpink and Stray Kids they both are some of the only groups that do this kind of music in k-pop. Im not saying they are the ONLY ones but they are the big ones. A lot of k-pop especially girl groups are more cute and girly that’s why Blackpink is the most popular girl group right now bc they don’t do that. A couple things some other reactors I like do (just due to the nature of SKZ and how much is usually going on in their videos) is watch the video a couple times, once just to absorb the song and video and a second time to watch the lyrics or vice versa. One reactor in particular that I like also watches the dance practices if there's one available since you can't see everything and their choreo openings are usually really cool.
Christmas Evil, which I know has already been recommended (and I call their crackhead Christmas song lol) is another crazy in a "what's going on" kinda song and MV so it might be helpful to watch twice. As a STAY I love watching people react and longer reactions don't put me off especially if it's to really appreciate the artistry in whatever is being done. There's a lot to unpack in SKZ songs from ones like this and Maniac with really integrated dancing and visuals, Venom which doesn't show their dance but rather a mini movie MV despite their dance being fire, to ones like Secret Secret which is a lyrically and emotionally heavy ballad with a simple MV of the boys just sitting and singing to the viewer. There's a lot of different styles, one might say flavors 😉 they like to try out and combine in their music so you will definitely hear a wide variety from them. Oh! The Japanese songs don't have any English CCs so you might have to pull them up separate or watch a lyrics video after just to understand the full message if you get around to them.
And yes they are transition kings! They often have it lined up with the story, moves and yes, even the lyrics which is super fun and can be easy to miss like the fog/smoke transition from Lee Know to Hyunjin based on the backing vocal lyrics during the group choreo @ 2 : 20 in the Maniac MV. Red Lights, Chan and Hyunjin's song about unhealthy obsessions also has some cool overlays/image fade ins (no idea what the technical terms are) as transitions. There's also references to their own lore in the music videos, other songs in their lyrics, or things they've done/said irl in MVs, lyrics, trailers, etc. For example, Changbin is well known by stay to say "stick to your Jutdae (principles)" and that's referenced in the background of this album's trailer, No Easy ruclips.net/video/Kpm48b7xSB4/видео.html, as well as the lyrics of Thunderous 0 : 28 in the MV and 2:31 in this reaction. Han is also eating a bunch of brownies in the trailer as Felix loves to bake with the members loving his brownies in particular and he'll even bring containers to the sets for the members and crew to enjoy while filming so Han is munching away at them. The Sound Monster in the No Easy trailer is also what they are fighting in their 2021 MAMA performance, Hey Monster! + Thunderous [Hero ver.] ruclips.net/video/T8ReNXU5-kE/видео.html.
For the MAMA 2022 performance you might want to watch the Oddinary album trailer ruclips.net/video/qaaywl-6H4o/видео.html, the Venom MV ruclips.net/video/pM-jOfy_1jM/видео.html, and the Maniac MV ruclips.net/video/OvioeS1ZZ7o/видео.html in that order before the award show performance ruclips.net/video/0QKhAdN-keY/видео.html since there are no lyrics for the live stage and you should be able to pick up some more references that way.
This is thanks to another I screenshotted on another reaction but I didn't catch the name and it was a new reactor to SKZ so I don't remember their name either. I'm not good with genres so I will go with what they wrote if you're looking to explore some of SKZs stuff since it can be hard to decide where to start.

24 to 25 (Love letter to STAY - Sweet ballad/aesthetic MV with lyrics)
Christmas Evil (kind of a christmas/winter dis track i guess you could say a.k.a. crackhead christmas when I describe it - Hip hop /fun and goofy MV)
This got way longer than I intended 😅 but I hope it helps!

Since it’s already December, i think it would be perfect to react to their Christmas Evel MV. That song is not your typical christmas song. But i also kinda want you to see their EASY MV already lol. Btw thank you for appreciating Straykids! ❤ Unfortunately I didn’t get to watch your reaction to God’s Menu so idk if my fellow Stays alr told you that Straykids is a self produced group, such talented guys.

Oh also I would suggest Shinee, the Princes' of kpop. Their very first song Replay is soooooo R&B it's crazy and skyrocketed them to the top and they are still there 15 yrs later. They are known to sound JUST LIKE their CDs in concerts and aren't good at lip-syncing is kinda why they have to be that good lol. So if you ever watch a live performance of theirs it's them singing live. Taemin the lead dancer of the group debuted at the age of 14 and was signed when I believe he was 12 or 13 bc his dancing skills were that good. He is known within Kpop as the Michael Jackson of kpop. His solo music is next level. I hope you will check them out (Don't Call Me is really good) and check out Taemin as well. You won't be disappointed

I absolutely fell in love with this video and her cuz she is so badass and so is a song.

That line - if I don’t like it, I will talk back until I am satisfied is like their ethos.
A great example - they pushed for God’s Menu to be released when they actually have another song in mind. They do have power and say in their music.
Fun fact - all of their songs are made and written by them (specifically 3racha - Bang Chan, Changbin and Han) and Bang Chan also has a hand in arranging their music. That is autonomy. Pop is not what we think it is.

You mentioned Jabbawockeez so I think you'd be interested in Jackson Wang, particularly 100 Ways, Blow, and Cruel.
Kpop is basically an umbrella term for a music industry out of South Korea but there are so many different styles of music. There's really something for everyone. And yeah the title track music videos are typically crazy production. But, the most "omg I'm watching a movie" has to be Lay's "Lit" music video. Highly, highly recommend.

You got lots of comments about the group. All I can add is that this group bounces around and mixes genres. If you review more of Stray Kids... you'll see bits of trap, boombap, r&b, dubstep, rock, edm, and more all mixed up... everything from ballads, to rap focus, to very different sounds. Whether you like one song or not, don't expect other songs to be the same... especially their newer albums (No-easy, Oddinary, Maxident, or the Circus mini album, and their collab works). They manage to explore in all sorts of directions and still manage to make it all work and sound like this group.

So, a quick guide to getting into Stray Kids
The most common songs people start with- God's Menu, Maniac, Venom, Freeze, Circus, Backdoor, Domino, TMI, Case 143, Super Board, Miroh, and Easy (tend to go harder)
Rap focused songs- Tortoise and the Hare, Double Knot, Muddy Water, Heyday, 3racha (please note that some of these are sub groups of the whole, especially 3racha which is made up of the three members who do all of the writing and production of the SKZ music, they are also their own rap group, or a break out of the Rap Line which can include a couple other members)
Smooth and sexy songs- Drive, Red Lights, Taste (again usually only a few members for the break out sounds)
Quirky guilty pleasure songs that just rock- Cheese, Makenae on Top, Christmas Evel, Can't Stop
Vocal focused songs- Sorry I love You, Lonely Street, Chill, and a variety of solo or small group efforts.
If you made it through these... seriously there are a ton more. They have quite the discography. Gotta watch Wolfgang, My Pace, All In, .... and so many more.

Stray Kids is hands down my favorite group. The guys are the real deal. They produce their own beats? write their own lyrics, etc... also, the rap line, BangChan, ChanBin, and Han, have a separate group called 3Racha. ChangBin is one of best and fastest rapper in Kpop. You can literally listen to any Stray Kids song and it's a winner. Check out the song called "3Racha" (same name as their side group) It's a lyric only video. Its on Stray Kids latest albumn. It's inspired by U.K. drill rap. It's freaking insane!!

Really enjoyed your reaction, guys. Stray Kids is my fav too. I spent sometime in US and I understand your pre-perception with boy band thing. For me, I love the fact that they write and produce their own songs. I would recommend you to check out 1. Maniac 2. Freeze 3. Venom …
Then you can go to old stuff like 4. District 9 5. Hellevator 6. Easy and then you can cross to the slow songs. They are very experimental with their music!

  • @LiveANoursishedLife
    @LiveANoursishedLife 2 года назад

I LOVE my Stray Kids. The song is basically addressing their haters, which you see in the lyrics. They have been called loud or loud music, etc. The first Rapper, Chang-Bin has been called loud, etc as he says in his first few lines when the song opens. So they are saying why you mad, why you sad, why you tick tick tick. And they are going to continue to be exactly they way they are while their haters stay pressed. They are pretty much self produced which is unheard of in kpop AND Bang Chan (Christopher who is from Australia) was allowed to pick the members, which again is pretty much unheard of in kpop. Ryan Rynolds loves STZ and often mentions them on his Instagram. They did a song dedicated to Deadpool and Ryan loved it and speaks with Bang Chan often. Rumors are the Kids are doing a song for the upcoming Deadpool movie. I hope you will listen to more of their music. Vemom, Freeze and God's Menu are very heavy with rap. Felix is the one with the deep voice and it's really his voice and he also is from Australia. The Rapper at the opening is Chag-Bin and he is known as one of the top fastist rappers in kpop. If you see the music video called Mirror he has a solo rap that is crazy fast and was done in one take.

I would looooove it if y'all did their live performance, "God's Ddu-Du Ddu-Du" - it's a unique performance wherein they blend God's Menu with our fave gals, Blackpink's Ddu-Du Ddu-Du AND do new lyrics/bars/choreo compared to God's Menu's choreo. It's insanely good!
Also, Lisa is friends with Bangchan (the guy with the bandages around his abdomen, he's the leader and producer, rapper, vocalist, and is an Aussie like Rosé!) so it's extra cool! He's even done reactions on RUclips to their stuff haha.
