It took you this long to discover Geometry Wars? If so, congrats on finding yet another great game off XBLA! I've been playing the game for YEARS now and my high score's only around half a million. The general rule of this game is to do laps around the grid (your choice) and shoot everything in front of your ship. You move faster than the enemies, so you can let them trail behind you and pick them off when they're too close for comfort.
Thanks for the video review! This is funny because I asked about you making one less than a week ago haha. This game is tough! I play for about 2 hours a week due to frustration and headaches. My high score is over 3 million atm. I didn't have an xbox360 for a long time, but I'm back! And I need to get GW2...
Okay, here's some tricks: You must always shoot where you're going to go, and then follow the cleared path. Most enemies are slower than you, so the huge mob after you is not very dangerous. Faster enemies have a lot of momentum, so always change direction slightly, they won't hit you. When you get attacked by blue triangles, keep shooting in one direction and try to fly through the hole in their formation you just made. Don't bomb if you have low multiplier, you get more extra lives than bombs.
If you like this, Mark, check out Geometry Wars:Galaxies on the Wii or DS. Many, many different arenas and lot of different enemies. I love it on the DS and it's great for GW on the go. It controls great, too!
Forgot to add: graphics look - of course - not as awesome on the NDS as on the 360, but still it looks pretty nice. Love your reviews! Keep them up! PS: What's up with your dog, Stella? Haven't seen her in a while in one of your reviews?! Care to update us youtube-subscribers?
Marc, you really should play this on the Nintendo DS, because there you can shoot with using the stylus pen thingy! It's pretty easy to get to xxx millions of points by just sitting in one corner and shooting everything that comes near you.
hahaha.. great review mark.. sure this game is a love-hate relationship, playing it for some days, then it just sits there on the xbox hdd for a few weeks until i must play it again.. but seriously.. funniest review in a while.. keep 'em comming!..
Super Stardust HD or Every Day Shooter are both good. Every Day Shooter does not have trophies, but it has a cool looking style and great music. Super Stardust HD is definitely better than both Every Day Shooter and Geometry Wars, it has splitscreen coop, online versus, the arcade mode has stages with end bosses. I definitely would say go with Super Stardust HD if you got the money for it and the add-on dlc.
If anyone is interested there is PC version that preceeded Geometry Wars, its called Grid Wars. Microsoft ordered the game maker to remove it from the internet. But you can still find it because it was a free game. And the PC version is extremely customizable. Search GRID WARS
This game is awesome. It's also included on the Wii version of Geometry Wars Galaxies (which allows you to download this game to your DS). I wonder how it compares to Robotron 2084 (haven't played the latter :(...embarrasing, I know).
You're right. I took shrooms while playing this game just so i could come here on this exact date when mark was uploading this video to "troll". why so angry -_-
Strategy for Geometry Wars? Easy: 1) Stay in motion, 2) Shoot your way free, 3) Shoot everything that moves, 4) If anything doesn't move, shoot it also
Hey Mark - Check out Geometry Wars 2 for many different game modes that KICK ASS! Makes an awesome party game contest too! Also Google Grid Wars for the PC - Has many more power-ups and enemies and you can go for HOURS EASILY !!!
I feel your pain there Mark. I am also not very good at this game. This is way harder then bullet hell shmups because in those game there are patterns to dodge the bullets. This however just throws stuff at you randomly.
you just gotta keep moving and NEVER quit shooting! haha try and get the the achievement where you have to not shot for a whole min.. that's rough stuff
i hear ya, this is probably one of my favorite games, the gameplay is intense and addictive. Mind you, Bizarre Creations have always had a skill with awesome gameplay. In some way, i consider the Bizarre Creations in the same league as Pygnosis was for the Amiga back in the day. Oh, and Metropolis Street Racer for the Dreamcast was awesome too :)
Ya you can buy Geometry Wars on Steam for PC. And you can buy any wired xbox 360 controller which works on PC as well - try amazon for the controller. You can get the drivers from Microsoft - Google it.
@jchaytor Yeah, that was cause for a little while he didn't have a 360, due to the RROD. So he had to review PS3 games & PS3 versions of multiplatform games.
If you get annoyed at dying and losing your multiplier, play Geometry Wars 2. Death doesn't reset your multiplier making for a much less frustrating experience.
Imo this one just turns into an absolute beast too fast...Geom wars 2, gives you this, plus loads more play for your money. Good game all the same though
that game came with my xbox when I got it I used to play it for hours when I was stoned.
ahh i remember that game good old times
Facts they don’t make games like these anymore
@@keithpoteat5016 damn, 4 years later I get a reply
@@suika9172 I just searched this game up and found this video remember playing this game as a jit

This game is like playing through Halo CE's library level on legendary, except your armor is made of paper and your only weapon is a saturated noodle.
The DS version was fun because you had a drone that flies with you AND gives you a helping hand when the going gets rough.
Those colors were serious, and I am going to pick this up today, thanks for review Mark!
This game is pure evil theres no questioning it.
There is a version of this game for the TI-83/TI-84 graphing calculator. No Joke.
Now why did those achievements remind me of a dualshock? :D
I'm thinking of getting this game, but do you have to button mash?
this game owes a little bit of it's soul to the vector arcade games, especially Tempest
You can get this on the Wii, although it's boxed. Still, either way, this game is incredibly addicting.
Nice I was waiting for you to play this since you love all those classic games! This is addictive as CRACK.
Still playing in 2020 ❤️
This game should be on the vectrex!
@SuperVreemd But it does include all the new modes from the sequel, plus one other mode.
This game truly is a modern arcade-stylized masterpiece.

can you review any Chicken Invaders game?

A look at the inner-you... you really wore your heart on your sleeve for this one. Bravo for conveying the pain of geometry wars.

This or Bullet Candy? does this game has achievements on steam?
Is this one better than the second?
A game you hate to love...
Now that's a kind of game worth playing.
I haven't played it... But i seems tath the game needs power-ups besides bombs... Like time freezers or invencibility
This is my favorite xbox360 live arcade game!
Ha! First arcade game i ever bought xd Awesome to say the least, too bad i haven't reached 250.000 yet, i'm too lazy to watch a walktrough xd
Marc, you really should play this on the Nintendo DS, because there you can shoot with using the stylus pen thingy! It's pretty easy to get to xxx millions of points by just sitting in one corner and shooting everything that comes near you.
Tempest 2000? That game is soooooo adictive!
Well this game relies on dual analogue sticks, so good luck trying to find one
Is there anything like this on the PlayStation Network? I only have a PS3, and this game looks awesome. Lol.
hahaha.. great review mark.. sure this game is a love-hate relationship, playing it for some days, then it just sits there on the xbox hdd for a few weeks until i must play it again.. but seriously.. funniest review in a while.. keep 'em comming!..
trip on acid playing this game would be lifechanging
how much is it? is it 80 MSP or what? o.o

@BigYellowNinja No because you only need to use your Right trigger and two analog sticks
can some one answer is the geometry wars for ps3 to?
I'm getting frustrated just watching this game. No way am I getting it. I can see the game rage that I would experience now :P
If anyone is interested there is PC version that preceeded Geometry Wars, its called Grid Wars. Microsoft ordered the game maker to remove it from the internet. But you can still find it because it was a free game. And the PC version is extremely customizable. Search GRID WARS
I have played twin-stick shooters before bug I REALLY WANT THIS ONE!!!!!!!!
This game is awesome. It's also included on the Wii version of Geometry Wars Galaxies (which allows you to download this game to your DS). I wonder how it compares to Robotron 2084 (haven't played the latter :(...embarrasing, I know).
You're right. I took shrooms while playing this game just so i could come here on this exact date when mark was uploading this video to "troll". why so angry -_-
That does not look like Vectrex graphics, but Vectrex graphics with COLOR! :D
you can also download it off steam on pc ;)
Great review!
I'm pretty sure this game is actually a ripoff from a game called Vecktar for the GP2X.
Damn, this seems like a great game!! Too bad I cannot get it on my PS3... :-(
Strategy for Geometry Wars? Easy: 1) Stay in motion, 2) Shoot your way free, 3) Shoot everything that moves, 4) If anything doesn't move, shoot it also

i really want this to come out for the psn. This has to be so awesome shooter. Better than Pixel Junk shooter. *sigh*
I feel your pain there Mark. I am also not very good at this game. This is way harder then bullet hell shmups because in those game there are patterns to dodge the bullets. This however just throws stuff at you randomly.

You Like it because its like Robotron!
There's a game called Super Stardust HD on the PS3, it's pretty similar...
I did a commentary on this. I like this game :)
Ya you can buy Geometry Wars on Steam for PC. And you can buy any wired xbox 360 controller which works on PC as well - try amazon for the controller. You can get the drivers from Microsoft - Google it.
He did not talk about the classic mode

@MATORO psn has Super Stardust HD, look it up.
@jchaytor Yeah, that was cause for a little while he didn't have a 360, due to the RROD. So he had to review PS3 games & PS3 versions of multiplatform games.

You lived through that without getting a seizure?
@sporkafife yes try super stardust hd
damn it does youtube have to show an ad every single time i watch a video. this is so frustrating.
Played 4 bucks on steam for this game. WELL WORTH IT

Geometry Wars is like Robot Unicorn Attack 2 some people have very high scores while I keep dying all the time.
@walkthroughsandmusic This is what you're after man. It's fantastic.
The Polygons hate you so much because your ship is...Irregular!

This game is also on steam for a low price.

Imo this one just turns into an absolute beast too fast...Geom wars 2, gives you this, plus loads more play for your money. Good game all the same though
