Thank you so, so much Eli. Words just can't express how grateful I am to you. Your videos saved me. You're a WAY better teacher than anyone at school. I understand, thanks to you!
Hi Eli , im a Fan of your method of keeping things simple and easy. The stress you put on keywords is amazing. I have been watching all your videos for the past few months and using your videos also to prepare myself for interviews. Thanks so much...
Thanks a lot Eli... your teaching methodology is easy to understand I have been watching your lectures for few moths now this one is among my favorites
true... that's why you need form validation on your site. That's the thing about hacking is that to protect yourself you have to look at numerous different vectors and figure out how to protect yourself...
You should add more keywords in your description like in your last year classes. It gives you a better visibility. That's how I found your videos in the first place. By the way, great subject. It would be great to have software administration classes like how to remotely automate FTP and database backups over the internet.
Hey Eli.. really cool even today . Can you please add a video for storage virtualization regarding vdisks, volume groups , storage pools like those.. 😊
So if someone (hacker) compromises the Apache 2 server and starts communicating with the MySQL and FTP servers, can it extract data and migrate it to their own server or computer?
How to ISP's cap speed? VLANs? What hardware is used to connect all the phone lines (RJ24) and RF cable to "the internet"? or a simpler way more broad question is what hardware to ISP's use and how does it work? I would love an Episode.
How exactly does a running instance get switched over to another physical hardware server when there is hardware failure? That is the only part of this I am not sure about. I thought the OS was installed to the Hypervisor. How would the Hypervisor know there is a problem and be able to migrate the instance if it no longer operating? Is there a copy of the OS also stored on the computer where the management software is installed and the management software moves it to another server?
Agreed that we can migrate the instances of OS to other servers with the help of Management Software, even when one of the server fails to work, at ease. I would like to know where is the Management Software located and controlled from ?
Hi Eli. Do instances of OS are stored on server HDDs or SAN? If on servers then how can virtualization software migrate os instance with all its configurations to another server if power has failed for the first one
you mentioned that in case of power supply failure on the first physical server, the virtual server hosted in it is moved to the next physical server. How the virtual server can be moved with no power on this physical server? please clear my confusion.... Thanx 4 all ur amazing videos
Basically what Eli said. Your ISP is in charge of that. In my area you can pay about 20% more and they will give you a static IP. Or you can buy a business line.
Hi Eli, your wor and classes buddy. wondering if you can setup introduction ans practice intl these classes below:? - A network scenarios with servers, PC, 2 x switches and modem router. All on physical host. - Another is install type 1 MS hyper-v core and manager - Using type 1 or type 2 can you please explain and simu late how the different VM servers interace with eachother within the box? like the traffic? - Are you able to simulate or practice on a type 1 virtualization class on enterprise level with few instances that can be bounce around in other server in that cluster like you talked about.? would be exciting to when you do a class pract on setting up the convergence. do you have classes for the various types of protocold?
What area of computing would virtualization fall under? I have been told it is Operating System Development but this seems to me like Data-base Management or Storage Systems.
Mysql can always be accessed/attacked if apache was exploited since if apache connects to mysql through php, theres going to be a connect.php with all the credentials in there. so locking down mysql to even listen to localhost only on another box is not more secure than putting it togher with apache
Hello ELI, your vids need no elaborations about how great they are. However i just installed VMware vSphere esxi 5.5 hypervisor on my lenovo think-center machine with config: i5, 3.2gHz, >300gb SATA HDD, 6GB ram. After successful installation I receive "ERROR 1962: NO OPERATING SYSTEM FOUND". I've tried 'formatwithmbr' and tweaking some of my BIOS setting like changing boot mode to legacy, auto and UEFI one after another, putting boot preference for HDD first etc. But none seems to work. I think BIOS and its settings are completely ineffective when it tries to boot, and I am not even taken to the esxi 5.5 hypervisor menu. Kindly help. PS- The machine had windows server 2012 as running OS while installing esxi 5.5.
the instance will be started and booted on new phisical server. it will not be migrated in working state. it's is HA -- if you loose a server than it comes back. but if you have 2 PowerSUs, than the server will still be running and you can setup a script to migrate all working instances to a new server and then shut down this compromised one, then all this instances will still be up and running all the time...
eli thank you very much for the good work, for the knowledge you sharing. I would like you to make a video on server clustering or high availability server
No, however you would not use a normal SSD. Also you can think about it as RAM but less volatile. It is better to use SSDs in a server that is doing a lot of paging. Such as a picture server, DB server, Trade Sever, or your front end server. These would be taking the most user hits. You wouldn't really use SSDs in your storage servers unless your company just has a lot of money.
Also, at 19:30, when you're talking about layering the MySQL server underneath the webserver, that's not going to secure you against an injection attack. An SQL Injection attack isn't an attack against SQL, it's actually an attack against PHP. Not saying that you didn't know that, just that your analogy was a bit misleading.
every SSD has a maximum number of write cycles to an address block. That means, that you can not make more writes to a hard drive than it is aloved. Drive it self spreads writes arround, so that blocks are similar in writes. Once all the writes are taken, then this HDD goes into readonly mode. another thing what to consider is, that this technology is still new and i have seen a lot of IBM and HP enterprise SSD failing -- so, Yes, they can die. And when they do, they probably die in groups :D
Thank you for the great introduction. Just an fyi you say this is episode #328 but your header states "Episode #329: Introduction to Virtualization Infrastructure Design."
So IBM-Softlayer in 2005 they just reshape xen in order to provide better and flexibility service without reaping people off with licenses + hardware cost+locations+availability+infrastructure. They offer all in one-- Smart guys!
click the cc (Closed Captioned) icon in the lower left of utube frame -- select translate arabic... Oh, if you don't know english you cant use this. Hmm, interesting problem. btw the CC is sometimes wrong.
I admire your knowledge Mr Eli and dedication to teaching from ALL your knowledge. I always wondered...WHY ARE YOU NOT WORKING FOR CORPORATE AMERICA? I can guess that you got tired of it all, and most likely they (Corporate world) demanded your expertise, skills, and education for BULLSHIT pay. I'm just guesssing here
Shouldn't You guys learn English for tech stuff anyway ? Unfortunately a lot of You forget, that in the business, a fluent communication is as important as raw technical skills...
Tech stuff is not quite the same as air traffic control, where everyone speaks English...; with WIndows or Linux, you can set if for native language/keyboard layout, etc... (Naturally, getting a free education on RUclips is *MUCH* easier for native English speakers)
Thank you so, so much Eli. Words just can't express how grateful I am to you. Your videos saved me. You're a WAY better teacher than anyone at school. I understand, thanks to you!
This is "The book of Eli"! All the information you give is so valuable.
Thank you in the name of all humans!
Hi Eli , im a Fan of your method of keeping things simple and easy. The stress you put on keywords is amazing. I have been watching all your videos for the past few months and using your videos also to prepare myself for interviews. Thanks so much...
Just started IT training and what a great introduction to Virtualization infrastructure. Thank you.
You either need to pay your ISP for a static IP address, or use a service like DynDNS.org for a dynamic DNS...
Thanks a lot Eli... your teaching methodology is easy to understand
I have been watching your lectures for few moths now this one is among my favorites
Eli is indeed, 'The Man'! :)
true... that's why you need form validation on your site. That's the thing about hacking is that to protect yourself you have to look at numerous different vectors and figure out how to protect yourself...
Exactly what I needed. Thank you!!

That guy is the greatest Professor for me
Hey Eli.. really cool even today . Can you please add a video for storage virtualization regarding vdisks, volume groups , storage pools like those.. 😊
Thanks Eli..I m great fan of yours..Pl.keep posting more cloud vedios.
So if someone (hacker) compromises the Apache 2 server and starts communicating with the MySQL and FTP servers, can it extract data and migrate it to their own server or computer?
Awesome and insightful video. I very much enjoyed it. Thanks.
Thank you Eli .. You make me want to Fire up my old dusty laptop and finally us it for something ...you r the best.!!!
you can't... the address is assigned to the Modem/ AdTran/ or Router supplied by you ISP.

I, too, had this same question. He doesn't address it in his other intro video either. Bummer.
He mentions about 'cluster' @ 09:19

Towards the close of your talk, you could mention something like the use of Proxmox, which costs nothing, for your hyoervisor. Ric

Fibre Channel (SAN) and NFS (NAS) are about as commonly used, or more so, than iSCSI.
How about an episode on VDI, Eli?

Every time he says migrate, all i hear is mindrape. Once heard, it cannot be unheard.

sir you are awsome.. now i'm ur big fan
Eli, thank you so much!
Updates- study fans also should familiarize themselves with Hyper-V, XCP-NG, ProxMox, KVM/QEMU
What happens when the vSphere/ Xen Server manager gets hacked?
very good explanation. thanks.
Once you get into the Domain Controller game over :)
Thank u soo much.
What are all those screens in the back for Eli ?? :)
I don't know Arabic... If you would like to pay $1000 per episode for this I would be more then happy to entertain the offer...
8:15 That's why you have Jails or LXT (Linux containers).
Wow Thanks For Your Information...
So IBM-Softlayer in 2005 they just reshape xen in order to provide better and flexibility service without reaping people off with licenses + hardware cost+locations+availability+infrastructure.

hmmm........I Want Up upgrade My Processor To "i7"....Do I Need To Upgrade My Motherboard???
thanks. really informative.

Eli am not jelous, but i realy want to be like i want to know more about computers you are realy wonderfull
thanks for your hel
thanks Eli
very informative...
thank you now i realize my gme server
This guy sounds like the ITIL V 3 videos i used to got through to get my cert. Is it you?
You are too good..
It's more targeted towards Databases and File storage.
nice office.. thanks
Remember Peeps "the less our clients spend on hardwares the more they pay to configure the hardware" -eli
I bet you've heard that question hundreds of times by now.
Nice Corg
today i am going to build my own "server" :p
Windows on macs. like a boss
Sounds legit.
hey boss i want to work with you
i know it does not possible but its my dream
Not if your rmotherboard suports an i7 processor.
(Unless of course his i7 is the wrong generation for his mainboard :) (Whcih happens about once every 10-12 months lately)
If he pays, I'll do the translation :))
"bla bla blablabla" :D (16:35)
Sorry If I Ask Stupid Question...Im Just 15.....
kJ no
pless.....Translates what you say in Arabic

Sorry Eli -- but I don't think he was gonna pay u.
but eli,if you'll refuse his offer you'll be marked as an islamophobic ignorant, how will you comprehand with the circumstances?!
It's a blah. He wouldn't understand.
do you speak blah? of course, blah. :)
