That BWV 540 is generally a maelström, a hurricane, a tornado that blows everything when it is played on the organ. And generally the organist pulls all the stops, in order to give that powerful piece the magnificence it needs.... ... well, actually, I never heard a single organist who dares to play the great 540 on the great organ, with just a Flute 8 ! Yet this is where we are invited to go in this video. I never thought of quietly hear the 540 in a so self-controlled execution. And it's a pure joy. With the delicate sound of the lute, we can calmly distinct all the melodic architecture of this jewel. Its a new way, more intimate. We are allowed to approch the beast while she is sleeping....:D Thank you @luteduo for that momentary lapse of reason. I'll come back to Bach on the great organ of course, but I'll always keep an eye on this particuliar 540.
It is all too common to see great talented musicians (such as yourselves) provide the world with a tremendous performance only to get so little views and likes. You deserve more for your hard work! Regretfully, all I can do is add a "thumbs up" (the 77th one). This is unfair. You have contributed to my heart and I can not contribute back? I am unemployed but I tell you with all honesty that you are appreciated tonight by someone who loves Bach. And to Father Drozdowicz, thank you for providing these fine musicians with such a great performing location. I hope Anna & Anton encounter more generosity in the future so that all the world can benefit from their talents just as I have tonight. Thank you greatly!
+gerubach If these fine musicians used Bitcoin, and you used Bitcoin, you could send them money with a click of your mouse, on the same computer that you watched this on. As I type this, there are 2,605 views, and 86 thumbs up. If each of the thumbs up was a Bitcoin donation.... you do the math. And there are many performances like this on RUclips that would similarly earn the players substantial money. Finally it will be worth putting performances on RUclips. Don't complain that there is nothing you can do; there IS something you can do; use Bitcoin! And while I am here, this really is one of the finest Bach interpretations on Lute that I have ever herd... sublime!
+gerubach Geru! I'm a big fan hahaha. Thanks for introducing me to Bach Passacaglia and Fugue and Bach Prelude and Fugue in A minor. Didn't know organ was so cool. I want to build a small one now out of wood XD
not an easy task - the organ was not without reason called the most advanced machine before clocks. If You really decide to, then I wish all the best in that endeavor.
We don't have to worry about the lack of "likes" or views, we are one of the few select group of people that can understand and like this gem and the eternally works of JS Bach.
Long after modern music is dead and forgotten, some kid somwhere will be strumming this, humming this, picking this on a piano or organ or harmonica.. it is that timeless.. that... infectious. It's an earworm, ain't it?
Two lutes sound better and more dynamic and refined than a harpsichord! Thanks for your virtuosic and beautifull registration of a Bach registration who himself considered the lute as "etwas feines von Musik".
I just want to dance to this.. and dance.. and dance... no matter what version, organ,. piano or lute... F major tocatta (540) is a prime example of "All of Bach is a Dance." I don't even know who said that... but someone did say that.
How truly fortunate we are to hear such beautiful music performed by wonderful performers on majestic instruments once for so long almost forgotten. Thank you, Lute Duo and those who made this video possible..
Brano Fantastico che rinfranca l'Anima. Grandioso Bach, sempre Moderno. Ciao!!!
I’m speechless. One of Bach’s greatest organ works reimagined for two lutes. Gorgeous and magnificent. The stereo antiphonal sections are a delight. 😎🎹
Mille mercis!
This is SO unbelievably beautiful that I've already listened to it 15 times via an excellent Sennheiser headset. The execution of this transcription is perfect. What talents we have here ...
This is wonderful. Over in the 70s rock world, Keith Emerson did a bit of this on their Tarkus LP. I hope this recording becomes at least as well known.
beautiful recording and playing, in a word, sublime!! This amazing arrangement works so well on 2 lutes, it was wonderful to hear this, obviously a lot of work went into making this happen.... I am inspired!! Bravo!!
Your arrangement and setting, that is to say the interplay between and unique, complementary tonality and sonic textures of the two lutes, inspires and breathes an authentic freshness into Bach's composition with which he would doubtless be quite pleased. Absolutely divine. Thank you.
Magnificent! I have been listening to BWV 540 for longer than I recall, having discovered a Deutsche Gramophon LP of Helmut Walcha at least thirty years ago. Never would I have imagined that this music would work so well on a baroque lute duo. This is actually a higher compliment than you might first expect - one of my greatest passions is performing the sublime music of Silvius Leopold Weiss on das barocklaute. Especially the Dresden Source and Manuscript Harrach. Thank you for the beautiful music. Francois Couperin once said that he'd "much prefer to be moved than astonished". Your rendition here has happily accomplished both!
Your own arrangement, no less? Wunderschön! (Sorry, I can't do it in Polish.) I know JS Bach wrote many transcriptions and arrangements (witness at least two Vivaldi concerti I know of he re-worked, pared down the sequences & added portions in related keys), so it is just possible he would hear this and approve. I sure do. Many thanks.
Yes it is owrs:) thank you! We have made two Bach projects of arrangements Luteduo plays Bach & Luteduo Bach Visions. ruclips.net/video/Ifsk0RDMiaM/видео.html ruclips.net/video/-0Zm0N3NB5M/видео.html
Plucked strings give a wonderful clarity to Bach’s counterpoint, which I think a lot of pipe organs obscure, for mechanical reasons, the articulation not crisp enough.
Agreed; the lute cannot rival the organ in the latter's own domain, no matter how excellent the lutenists, but I can understand why the duo ventures beyond music written for the lute, much as I appreciate it.

Oh it seems to work out... Fuuiyooo! Well played
Astonishing.
Ultra-talented musicians like this should be the billionaires in our world.
:) money is way too vulgar to interest these kind of artist
Absolutely incredible.
BRAVO❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
@@paulettemaier4580 Thank you so much, it means a lot to hear this 🙏🧡❤️🍀

But Lady Gaga! Jk. Lol. Yeah, unlike sports where the best athletes tend to get the awards here it's all about who knows who and that's it
Good old Bach..
Would never have believed this would work on anything but organ until I heard this - wonderful!

What a pleasure! You make it seem spontaneous and effortless.

I prefer this on the organ, but the duo is masterful.
Leçon bien apprise ! Une superbe fleur de la discipline !

The music transports the listener to a beautiful place. Speaking of beautiful, what's the name of the church?
Thank yu for watching!

I like this but I miss that remarcable fixed tone in bass which comes with organ pedal..

真好听 ma toaccata cosa vuole dire? toccare ?

All you useless comments .. where’s the fugue
thank you so much!
this is wonderful, I cant imagine how much nicer it sounds inside a big space like that
