Mr Jay, you are simply one of the most inspirational players I know of. No offense to any product you've endorsed, I usually click to review it, however I always find myself getting into your very percussive very inspired playing. Your joy for our instrument is evident and it's massive. Thanks
This may be the first time I've ever even come close to understanding what "tube sag" means. Thanks for the explanation and the killer video as always.
So happy to give you some perspective on it! Input power, rectifier type and power filter caps have a HUGE effect on amp tone. On a similar vein, try running you old vintage amps at 110Vs instead of the modern 120V. Those old amps were designed to sound best through the older mains power and have a much smoother and creamy response when run that way:)
that was concise!!! covered so much ground and demonstrated so many applications. They should include your video as a quick start guide with the pedal!!!
Was happily caught off guard to heat the Float On - Modest Mouse riff in any demo ever, but especially from you with your tendency for more widely popular riffs, which you do so unbelievably well and in such an entertaining way. So I had to give an extra shout out for the pleasant surprise.
5 years later I stumbled on your video: I just got the revivaldrive 1 week ago and your explaination is the best I have seen/read so far. Thank you that's awesome... now I really looooove the sound on my valve rectifier part (an english tweed sound ... love it :). I am currently searching something for the silicon rectifier part. Right now I am not convinced on this part :)
A really good in-depth demo. Great coverage of the features with really great playing to show off the pedal, but not over the top to distract... well done man and thanks!
Jay! As always what an amazing demo! Your energy always puts me in a great mood! Killer demo as well! I always wondered what the Revivaldrive was all about. Cheers from Saskatchewan!
I subscribed based on this great review! Excellent playing, contagious enthusiasm, and a super practical and instructional review. I can't wait to get my RevivalDrive.
Damn near a perfect demo.....thoughtful, thorough, informative, wide array of playing styles (not all self-gratuitous pentatonic wanking) and of course entertaining....my only complaint is that I've watched your demos and your tone hands have made some pedals sound WAY better than I found them to be..(hardly a valid complaint) anyways, thanx for your hard work and here goes all my Spaceman pedals to Reverb-- sweet it only costs 7,000$....
Awesommmmme demo man! I wasn’t into preamp-type pedals originally but after tinkering with an Ethos I really value the tone-shaping options. Super excited for this one!
Awesome video, Jay - very informative AND enjoyable! Having watched the Origin Effects’ own videos I believe you have done a significantly better job explaining the complexity of the involved parameters than its designers. Fantastic & thank you!
What an awesome video. The video and presentation is so good, even though I own around 8 different overdrives and distortion pedals and clean drives, I think I am going to buy this. Great playing in this video also.
Magik Mage I was you. I thought 7 was too much. I’m up to at least 75 pedals. Mainly distortion and fuzz. It’s an addiction. I ordered this and plan on selling a bunch of pedals if this works out selling a bunch even if this doesn’t work out. I’ve gone broke with this issue.
Excellent features, just brilliant. I love the blend possibility because it helps with stacking so much... Sorry kids, daddy needs a pedal - porridge for breakfast!
Man, you are so knowledgeable, and an amazing player! Great teacher too. Thanks for breaking down a lot of the complex tech talk into plain language. 👍👍
JayLeonardJ is an amazing player and, his intense, high energy demos are amazing. I always check to see if he has a video on products that I want to buy. Manufacturers, if you’re not onboard with this kid, you’re missing the boat! He doesn’t insult and would be a great brand ambassador.
With so many drive pedals out there, I find myself in analysis paralysis. THIS pedal however sounds versatile and amazing, something that I thought would be impossible. BRILLIANT demo!
Dude that instrumental version of Immigrant Song so so bad ass! Bravo! Excellent demo, playing and explaining. I own this pedal. Will never get rid of it. It is Amazing.
Yes it is expensive but you’ve got to remember it’s capable with the foot switch to replace 4 or five overdrive pedals! Also the mid boost for solos and all at the best quality it’s starts to become very good value imho?
Always so happy and a joyous attitude too boot! Nice job J.L.J !!! This will be my last OD for some time, as for #1 I have no more room on my pedalboard and I own so many pedalsalready. I like that it gets a lot of luv from the big name players too. Fantastic pedal! 🔥🔥🔥 Best to you J !!! ✌🏼
Just got my dream today! Trying to upload now, but it’s going slow...Had a Custom Fuzz made by Steve Williams of Pigdog! It’s the ZULU, after my cat(yes I’m a sentimental type!) Silver metallic box, black lettering(Zulu is a Silver Bengal, Silver and Black) Its a mkii Pro with a mkiii tone filter knob! Steve is calling it the MKII.V! Nos Mullard Green Jacket OC82D transistors(Zulu’s eyes are green, lol just another tie in...) It’s the most unreal fuzz I’ve heard! Love this Origin Effects OD, but I just got the Mother of Boost...A Pigdog Miss Judy! OC44 Black Glass... I like it better than the Spaceman Mercury IV, and that pedal truly impressed me! Hope the vid loads and u like the fuzz! There may be a very very small run because he thought it sounded so good...I’d get one if he decides to make it, it’s truly special!!! Just like your vids and playing!!
Man you killed it in the intro! You literally make me want to buy everything you demo. Hey that rhymes! You’re easily one of the most inspired guitarists out there! Keep it up!
This is so brilliant but after having a few different “do it all” pedals I think it’s a lot easier to have individual pedals on the floor to get the sound you want at the click of a footswitch (no need to touch knobs). This would be an amazing studio tool and great for a player with 3 pedals on their board. Don’t get me wrong - I’m very excited about this but I think I would have options paralysis if it was on my board..! Great demo Jay!
The sad thing is that i don't think i've ever been as happy as you seem to be in any ten second snippet of one of your videos. Challenge question: You can have only 1 (one) OD/Distortion pedal*. What do you choose? Go! *if all you need is a pedal to go through an amp or Kemper-and you don't need it to go "direct to IRs" or that sort of thang....
JayLeonardJ jay try this with the kemper even at high gain. It’s the first time I really liked the kemper. I wasn’t using it and now I am. . It. enhances it.
Amazing sounding pedal (and, bro... you're such a talented musician!). I am seriously considering this pedal, I love gear that not only sounds amazing but also gives you endless possibilities if you're willing to tweak and explore. I've seen some diagrams Origin Effects has shared about a remote control option for use with programmable loopers, which I think is cool, but I just wish those features could be controlled via midi and not just through a couple of TRS jacks. Other than that, though, this thing packs so many cool features!
I love Jay,s playing clean, tight and a complete antidote! The origin adds some useful drives but it cannot change an amp into what its not,the vox doesnt sound right, the marshall nope and good fender boosts can be found much cheaper and with as good results. The pedal is a thing of great beauty but for all its bells and whistles ultimatley its a drive pedal that adds something good to an already good sound.
Did you use this pedal for the punchy pickup review? I got those pickups and they sound nothing like the demo, they sound pretty standard. Good pickups but that tone I think has more to do with
First time watching your channel - great demo and fun playing! I just recently bought the Origin Cali76 Deluxe and really impressed - still getting my head round it. This one looks amazing - probably more suited to studio work given the huge variety of sounds available . . . something to think about though! Will catch up with your other RUclips sessions. Just a suggestion (if you haven't already) you may like to check out the Effectrode Blackbird pedal. I bought one a couple of years ago and it's an 'always on' for me - opens up things beautifully, a bit of the Dumble touch involved. Like Origin also a Brit company - some nice stuff (I'm not affiliated at all).
To answer Jay, I’d be more of a set it and forget it guy. The amount of settings are daunting, but!...at home or in the studio this would be a great tool. I feel like I like to love pedals equally and this one would become the complicated favorite and ruin my attitude towards the others. lol
ive been waiting for this overdrive since i was a young lad with a 77 marshall JMP master model trying to get modern guitar sounds. i plan on slamming the front of my be100dlx with this beast im looking for high gain madness without all the noise. bought the compact version today.
Awesome pedal! Of course, I want it, but... I've come to the realization that all of these pedals that have a bazillion features are only useful when playing at home or in the studio where you have time to experiment or go from one setting to another. If I'm gigging this isn't practical and would not give me the value I would seek from a pedal that cost this much. So even though the pedal can do many many things, which is what gives it its value, at a gig it won't be that versatile, unless you plan to bend down everytime you wanted a different drive sound. I don't know anyone gigging who wants to do that. The extra foot switch, which is $99 on top of the pedal ($529 - regular, $649 - custom) could be useful for gigs with mid boost and clean blend switches. Having features to make the pedal sound right with any amp is nice if you have to play through backline amps a lot.
Congratulations Jay! Best Revival Drive test. Only have one question: will you run it at the end of your pedalboard (amp like) or like a normal overdrive ? Thanks!!
Songs Played? I recognised Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song, The Temptations - I Got Sunshine, George Michael - Gotta Have Faith, Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California, The Kinks - All Day and All of the Night, Stevie Ray Vaughan - Pride and Joy...
The funny thing is the relic is just good old fashioned wear and tear. I will say that it's nitro paint job was really thin, so it did chip a LOT easier that the standard guitar.
So I ordered this pedal and it comes in on Friday. I own a Marshall 2525h with the matching 2x12 cab with the V30's. My question, is there any way I can just have that ghost knob going and bypass everything else just to experiment with it on the "slash" sound?
Hey Jay, I was wondering how this compared to the Bluguitar Amp1 you showed us ; which would be your preference of the two if you were going to build an ampless rig and just use IRs?
Great playing and superb review! I am using a wet dry rig, with the wet signal going to a Princeton clone with a 12" speaker (Vintage Sound 15) and the dry going to a Goodsell Super 17. I use a Boss ES8 to do switching. When I hit the overdrive it goes to both amps and I have the amps EQ'ed so that both clean and OD sounds good coming out of both amps. As such I would likely have the RevivalDRIVE set on one setting that would hopefully sound good with both amps, and if one still sounded too bright or something I'd likely just EQ that amp so that it sounds good. So given all of that confusion (sorry) do you think I can get away with just getting a Standard Version of the RevivalDrive, or should I make an effort to get the Custom?! Thanks!
O E make superb pedals, some of the finest on earth, this pedal would take a lot of studying 🤓 to get the best out of it, the manual must be 3” thick lol, would definitely have one for studio work. Sounds incredible, awesomeness on the strings and demo too as usual 🤘🤘🤘🤘
MrPerfectfeet no not at all. I was surprised it was really easy to figure out. Small manual. You can watch an origin effects video or any good video that demos it. Whatever u choose. Took less time to set it up for a great sound than a bad simple pedal. It is not hard to use. It’s not a kemper or a Helix or axe fx. It’s easy.
How much is this little dude? MAN.. this box seems to sound like all kinds of amps and distortion pedals. Have not seen a gain pedal with this many options. COOL you can get the Hendrix Stevie Ray thing happening, how about some Duane Allman type tones? This is cool..
Seriously you are the best freaking demo person on RUclips. Keep up the good work
Thanks!
Mr Jay, you are simply one of the most inspirational players I know of. No offense to any product you've endorsed, I usually click to review it, however I always find myself getting into your very percussive very inspired playing. Your joy for our instrument is evident and it's massive. Thanks
This is the best drive pedal I've ever heard! Your demos are always the best Jay.
Outstanding demo. Perfect choice of song riffs to clearly indicate the differences. Your playing sounds great.
Yep, I've rectified a few vulva's in my time :-)
Top comment winner!
What an absolute master of rock guitar! Dude, you rule!
I learn more each time i watch your videos .. you are a real good player and you explain the pedals better than anyone ive seen on the tube.
Thanks so much!
This may be the first time I've ever even come close to understanding what "tube sag" means. Thanks for the explanation and the killer video as always.

The ultimate drive pedal! Sound great. Awesome playing too!

Def. one of the better pedal demos out there. Thanks for the info bro!! Nice playing too

Definitely, this is a pedal that I would use a lot! What a tremendous review, Jay!!
Wow great demo! Much more useful and informative than soloing over backing tracks/loops.
So happy when I search for a pedal demo and I see you’ve done one. Best overall videos on here by far. Not even close. Thanks buddy!
A really good in-depth demo. Great coverage of the features with really great playing to show off the pedal, but not over the top to distract... well done man and thanks!
Awesome pedal, and great video! You're one of the few people on RUclips I enjoy this much. Keep up the great work man!
Holy moly! Amazing pedal, incredible player, hilarious video. Home run all the way.
Jay! As always what an amazing demo! Your energy always puts me in a great mood! Killer demo as well! I always wondered what the Revivaldrive was all about. Cheers from Saskatchewan!

Great video Jay & what a beast of a pedal!
Amazing demo video. You could sell ice to Eskimos man.
Subscribed! Great work man, going through past videos and looking forward to more...cheers!!
Best pedal demo guy yet. You're a hoot, Jay!
best reviews ever! Such a great player, such a great guitar, and great gear and amps as always.
Awesome video, Jay - very informative AND enjoyable! Having watched the Origin Effects’ own videos I believe you have done a significantly better job explaining the complexity of the involved parameters than its designers. Fantastic & thank you!
True !:)
Great demo! I really like your energy and demo style.
Whew, that was quite the demo! Great job!

You never, _ever_, fail to impress .... the pedal is quite good as well :-)
After watching this, I went to their site to hand over my £300 - £350 for one ....... ouch!
Man, you are so knowledgeable, and an amazing player! Great teacher too. Thanks for breaking down a lot of the complex tech talk into plain language. 👍👍

My dear goodness. That was the coolest demo intros I think I've ever seen...I had to pause the video and just type that in! Ok back to there review :D
Dude that instrumental version of Immigrant Song so so bad ass! Bravo! Excellent demo, playing and explaining. I own this pedal. Will never get rid of it. It is Amazing.
Jay, Another Awesome video, I love the sound into the Benson Chimera
Yes it is expensive but you’ve got to remember it’s capable with the foot switch to replace 4 or five overdrive pedals! Also the mid boost for solos and all at the best quality it’s starts to become very good value imho?
GAS. The wealth of options. This and the neunaber Iconoclast would be bliss!
It is ;)
You rocked this man. Great demo
Can't wait to get these in stock!
Always awesome. I like this pedal a lot. I will buy it if I am able to afford it.
This is so good. Great job!
Thanks guys!!
We're gonna have to get one of your cab sims to try with the RevivalDRIVE!
yes to this.
Best demo of the pedal. Definitely next drive pedal for me.
Always so happy and a joyous attitude too boot!
Nice job J.L.J !!!
This will be my last OD for some time, as for #1 I have no more room on my pedalboard and I own so many pedalsalready. I like that it gets a lot of luv from the big name players too.

great video and sweet playing :)
Man you killed it in the intro! You literally make me want to buy everything you demo. Hey that rhymes! You’re easily one of the most inspired guitarists out there! Keep it up!
Nice version of the Peg solo!!!
Thanks, Peg is definitely in my top 5 all time favorite solos.
You are a great guitar player congratulations. Amazing demo!
So many useful overdrive sounds, I'd probably need 3 on 1 board...

Super tight chops bro

JayLeonardJ jay try this with the kemper even at high gain. It’s the first time I really

this pedal would be insanely useful for a live/session player

This is about to be the centerpiece of my rig..
If I produced pedals I would for sure ask you to demo them. Incredibly well explained, prepared, excellent playing and contagious energy :)
I love Jay,s playing clean,tight and a complete antidote!

Oh, well....one gain pedal to rule them all...
A++ demo! Instantly subscribed...
Really appreciate it! Welcome to the page :)
It’s on its way 🎶🎶🎶
I'll buy this pedal for that one solo I need it for.
ive been waiting for this overdrive since i was a young lad with a 77 marshall JMP master model trying to get modern guitar sounds. i plan on slamming the front of my be100dlx with this beast im looking for high gain madness without all the noise. bought the compact version today.

Sounds killer
You definitely have your own style , it's so fresh. Question, are you so happy when you play the blues? Lol. Love your vids
I love the 28 thumbs down votes... WHAT COULD YOU POSSIBLY BE THINKING??? Awesome demo!
Great review and great playing
Congratulations Jay! Best Revival Drive test. Only have one question: will you run it at the end of your pedalboard (amp like) or like a normal overdrive ? Thanks!!
I would put it right before my modulations and time based effects: that way, it's almost like having those effects in an FX loop :)
Thanks Jay!
Do you have to pay royalties on this type of cover? Great work on the melody!
it'll sound like a Boss? thats exactly what im trying to avoid paying 600 bucks for a stomp
I meant boss in the colloquial sense and not referencing the pedal maker 👍
Sounds like a Boss? Metal Zone? Cool!
I hope they release the individual sides.
Great video 🤙🤙
Great video
Songs Played? I recognised Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song, The Temptations - I Got Sunshine, George Michael - Gotta Have Faith, Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California, The Kinks - All Day and All of the Night, Stevie Ray Vaughan - Pride and Joy...
Steven Asselman make it My Girl. 😉
Who did you get to relic your tele? Don’t remember it looking like that, but it looks great!
Great job on the demo and great playing!
Can anyone tell me what the song is around 8:40 ?
Thanks!
Vintage Sound 15 and a Goodsell 17. I rocked that EXACT setup for a few years there!
It’s easy.
Oh hell yes!!!
Daymm... I always thought Seymour Duncan Palladium was the most knobs on drive pedal ever made...
Revival Hot Rod Custom and the extra footswitch for sale 600 obo...
Too heavy for my board.
And that tele looks amazing, fender CS?
Yup. It was built back in 2011. It was definitely a lot shinier when I got it though!
How much is this little dude? MAN.. this box seems to sound like all kinds of amps and distortion pedals. Have not seen a gain pedal with this many options. COOL you can get the Hendrix Stevie Ray thing happening, how about some Duane Allman type tones? This is cool..
Great demo. What is that riff/song at 15:16?
It's the "Hey Joe" closing riff :)
