How to bed in your brakes + Fixing glazed rotors

  • I glazed my rotors and had poor brakes on my first bedding attempt. Fixed the rotors and pads, and went out to bed the brakes again. MUCH better result.

    Interesting. Landed here dealing with a darn brake shudder issue 3 months after a full brake job. Did see a brake pad imprint at that time. I think there is an issue with the Bosch ceramic brake pad material transferring way too much under very normal driving conditions.

    Did you do the back or just the front of the rotor?

    Who bed in the brakes in new 60’s-70’s prerformance cars? I didn’t. I did though on my new rotor and pads on my 70 Z28 4 spd and my daily driver 5 spd.

      I doubt it was done at all, but if it was maybe a machine since it's the only way to be consistent. However muscle cars in the 60s and 70s were often family vehicles that weren't necessarily meant to have max braking.
