In this episode of Motorcycle Rewind, we're diving back into the restoration of our 1965 Honda CB450 K0 Black Bomber. We've got a lot on our plate today, and we're excited to share the process with you.
First up, we'll be putting on some brand new tires to give this classic ride the grip it needs. Then, we'll mount the exhaust system and get those iconic pipes looking and sounding great.
We'll also tackle the brakes, ensuring they're up to the task of bringing this beauty to a safe stop. And of course, rust removal is a big focus - we'll be scrubbing, sanding, and buffing to make the Black Bomber shine again without going for a full repaint.
Join us as we work to breathe new life into this vintage motorcycle, and follow along for tips, tricks, and plenty of garage fun. Don't forget to like, comment, and subscribe for more updates on our projects!

I've restored a couple of my CB77's and love watching someone who does what I do. I thought I was the only vintage guy out there. LOL. I love this channel. Mid Ohio Vintage Motorcycle Days is coming soon and you definitely need to be there. Thank you for all you do brother!!
Mid Ohio is on my bucket list. Got my wheels turning its a little over 3 weeks away.

You could also make a wire puller by soldering a piece of coax liner the woven copper wire to a piece of old throttle cable
That’s a good idea. Thanks for watching.
@@motorcyclerewind I learned that in an old cycle world mag
looks GREAT eric. awaiting the next project
You and me both! Thanks for watching
Looks really good Eric… I think I’d lose the rear rack framework. The seat will bring it to life. Enjoy! 👍😎❤️✅
The seat will make it look so good. Can’t wait. Thanks for watching.
I am tempted by the seventies CB450's, great motor on the BB esp when revved out, but suspension, brakes and gearbox action are all pretty bad but were tolerable back in 1975 when I was 19 and running a 1967 example. Hard used, it needed oil change and servicing every 500 miles but was a tough old beast until 25k when one of the small ends went - the oil changes were the only way to keep the gearbox vaguely pleasant. Did a rebuild as piston/bore went when the small end went. On a good one, once warmed, you can back off the idle speed to 500-600rpm and the engine quiets down to an amazing level, just as a test not for normal running. If you left the bike for more than a day it would protest with reluctant starting on the kick, the starter motor not working.
Give in to the temptation and get another one. Relive your youth. Thanks for watching.
Just replace the Brake light / Ign. Switch assembly also. I dropped that teeny tiny spring in the Hi/Low beam switch!!! I could not find it. Next day I pushed a big magnet around the floor and got it!! Huzzah. It was tricky putting all back together.
Way to keep looking. Thanks for watching.
Eric, do you ever stop for a rest? Seems not, which is good for us watching in. Thanks for posting.👍
Sometimes! I don't do much else. Thankfully, Keri allows me the time to be in the shop!
Algorithm 😊
Math is AWESOME!!! Thanks for watching
We have a couple of the same bikes! What year is that Xt?
looking good - do you know how many hours it took you to get to this stage ??? would be interested to find out
Thats a great question. There is roughly 4 hours of video content. Normally, raw footage is 4 or 5 times the completed video. Plus work done off camera because I already recorded the other side! This part of the project eats time with a lot of little things.
I should track all hours working on a project on a future project.
Thanks for watching
What about the 750 Kawasaki?
The damn thing has started every time I turn the key without the jump pack. And I did nothing to it but push it home. 🤣😂🤣
