They're super super crisp, so these are probably being played out on the instruments' respective sound modules. Yknow, before they get squashed to a reasonable size
Fun fact, that's not Flame Mammoth Remix or CPS2 version but the Demo Tape of the theme. Back then composers used to make demo tapes of the soundtracks which then was later programmed in by the sound programmer who may or may not be the same as the composer.
What's so mind-fucky about it is that this remix predates the actual game. This was showcased several months before gamers even got to hear the original version come out of their Super Famicoms.
@@TeamRocketHQR Like film, the music in most games is composed fairly early on in development. Composers are given a sketch of the character and a basic description of the level, and that was about it. It's kind of amazing to think about how the music in this legendary game would have been done that way.
@@SatoshiMatrix1 It's even funnier there's a cd-rom pc version for Mega Man X that only used midi sound too. They could have used better sound there but got lazy. And yeah I've heard that before too. I have Mega Man X3 pc with the fmv's and different sound as well.

The comments here all mention the CPS2 version of the Flame Mammoth theme, but what I find equally impressive is the Red Book audio sound effects. The audio in this entire footage can't be coming from a Super Famicom sound chip.
@@SatoshiMatrix1 The audio channels of the sound effects are outputting a dynamically larger range in audio channels. It might be hard to notice but it's there. Try comparing SNES gameplay with this.
You mean the Day of Sigma anime short? That was created in 2006 for the PSP remake of Megaman X1, Maverick Hunter X. As awesome and high quality as the game was however, it was a commercial failure, and Capcom gave up their plans to remake the rest of the games. I don't mind its' inclusion in the X Collection, but it reboots and retcons certain things ranging from minor (Storm Eagle's appearance) to major (Dr. Cain being killed). It doesn't make sense with the original SNES game, only Maverick Hunter X. Which inexplicably is missing from the X Collection. Sigh.
@@SatoshiMatrix1 I mean... The development of MMX in general. It's pure gold, changes, solid until the final version, special tracks, White City and more. I think White City is from early prototype.
I'd love to check out the beta too, as there's quite a number of changes here. But it's unclear what the Flame Mammoth music here is. CPS2 was released around when Rockman X was in development, but it seems very strange that sound hardware would have been used for a promotion when there were other, easier options.
You could only use the 2nd level charge shot until you got the upgrade, where you get a 3rd level, being the large pink buster that would be the max level in the final game. It's like how they made the dash a separate upgrade, but added it as default in the following games
Satoshi Matrix True. I made the mistake thinking the same. This mix sounds much better than the one in the game; in a way that sounds like an alternate rendition of SparkMadrills theme.
Anyone noticed the room in chill penguin stage that can be seen to the right from the ledge when you reached the first indoor area? Supposed to have the legg-upgrade in there?
Its in the beginning of the stage, before the legg-upgrade. By the first Wall you reach before you start going left indoors so to speak. When you encounter the Rolling spike enemies. You’ll see a room to the right that is inaccesible.
The explosion efdects are different in the video, the body upgrade doesnt have a own animation of taking demage, the charged shoot its different and the extra charge shoot use the same sound effect with charged shoot normal and break shields, there's heart upgrades located in other areas
Wait, the beta version only had one type of charge shot without the arm upgrade? That's crazy. Good thing they added another variant in the final release.
Since all of this footage is pre-release beta footage, the version of Flame Mammoth's theme is also beta. It's logical to assume the song has a solo written but had to be shortened for the final game due to cartridge space limitations.
Sounds like this early Flame Mammoth theme is using CPS2 instruments.
