More excuses: My e bike is too heavy. My ebike gives too much assist, so I spin out. This hub motor is too heavy. My bike is too heavily geared. I forgot to take off the mud tyres. My bar is crooked. My grips twist. My seat post has too much play. I have the temporary plastic pedals, ths t came on the bike. My reflectors cut me up so I am bleeding call 911.
@@Melonator13 Results might vary. it's not placebo. you are in a lighter gear at the hard part of the stroke and a heavier in the easy part of the stroke. so it gives an even stroke. my pain went away. If I use round rings my knees hurt. To me the difference is huge. Yes you get used to it they won't feel weird once you got used to it. If you look at it from an technical stand point it makes sense too. I struggled with horrible knee pain from riding, since I was a kid, I wanted an oval chainring since then. As soon as I had oval chainring I could finally ride without agony. But how much difference you notice can depend on how you ride. The way I ride I notice it as I actually pedal a lot. It's just me getting stronger, the oval chainring definitely helps me. if you can do without that is nice. but I just cant take it, it reduces my riding time and makes me want to stop, my body says stop. I use Absolute Black, there are knock off junk that does not give the desired result where the timing is wrong. Some think it's marketing propaganda, but it's not, but they don't understand how it works, you might not notice it working even if it does, but with my knees it's really noticeable. It was not just normal fatigue. It was so bad I just could not continue, so I had to take it easy, ride less steep stuff, less tech, ride slower, relax more, to maximise the riding time, no I can push much harder. yes i do get muscle fatigue, but my knees don't hurt like someone tried to beat me up. To me it made sense.
Nice to know that mountain bikers can be just as douchey as any other hobby enthusiast. It's not the hobby that makes people douche bags, they were like that to begin with.
I actually had a guy say, "It's too rocky!" and my reply, "It's called mtn biking, not road biking"....I heard a racer at one of our local trails complaining during the race that the course was too rocky also. I just want to tell these types of riders to go buy a commuter and stick to paved trails.
@@Shred_Tube I actually do ride a Trek Roscoe 8 on technical and rocky trails, the more technical the better for myself. I may not be fast, but I do ride black rated trails. I am not into flow and jump lines, I leave that for the newer crop of riders who prefer that.

I go fast when I need to, but after 30+ yrs of mtn biking I have nothing to prove. I have had a host of injuries, twice knocked unconscious and 6 concussions, so I ride to within my level/ability. No matter how good you think you are, there's always someone who has more skills. If "shredding" means riding something like the Portal Trail in Moab, then guess what....I shred. Good for you riding with 14 yr old girls on Blacks, that means that they're probably going to be even better riders than yourself when they get to be your age. I am not the least bit dissatisfied in my abilities.

The ebike one is spot on! Most those excuses disappeared when I got my ebike this year. Now it’s just.. my motor is underpowered for this hill! My motor is overpowered for this hill! I forgot to charge my battery last night! I crashed cuz I was trying to read my display!
I don't know. We snapped spokes back in the day with V-brakes and we just adjusted the other spokes enough to finish the ride or we loosed the brake enough to finish the ride. I popped 4 spokes on different rides on my OEM wheels this last year and with disk brakes, it wasn't an issue at all. Ive replaced those wheels now.
Ride a full rigid singlespeed. Then you don't have access to any of these excuses. And the ones you do have access to make even less sense because you CHOSE to ride that bike. Also, it's fun.
How is it fun when you have huge technical climbs? I've only rode single speed on a bmx and fixed gear road/commuter. I don't see how single speed is fun on a MTB. It seems like more of a punishment to me.
