  • This week we're doing what we never thought we would do, take our demo SVR through an automatic car wash! But not just any car wash, a touchless one! We had never heard of this type before until one sprung up local to us, this is American technology which has just made it to our shores.
So we thought we'd give it a go and take you along with us to see what its like and of course, see the results!
Let us know your thoughts of this new tech in the comments and if you would take your car through this?

I had an American touchless car wash 10 years ago just up the road from me in York at Inner Space filling station, Hull Road, as far as I know that was the first. That's been replaced by a Christ Aquatus Prime German unit which has various programmes including touchless. All computer controlled to hug the contours of any vehicle and incorporating a touchless air blower drier. Very expensive state of the art piece of kit which costs an absolute fortune. Does an amazing job.

Should of been blown dry, damage happens when drying the vehicle.
Pick up a bit of dirt on the cloth and you will drag it round the entire vehicle = swirls

When you have a wrap will PPF protect that wrap as well?

    • @AutoshineTinting
      @AutoshineTinting  Год назад +1

@@DeeDeeHair It will yeah, but the PPF will last a lot longer than a wrap so when you factor cost in it's not always worth it. On my last wrap I PPF'd over the wrap on the bonnet and front bumper to protect from stone chips which was great, but it add's £ on the the job.

A bad idea considering most repair jobs are poor, a high power pressure washer can easily remove factory applied Honda clear coat and base coat. I've seen it flake off with my own eyes to the primer below..you also wouldn't want to take a focus mk2 in electric orange in there either.. if you've had lets say a rear quarter repair and they haven't removed the glass and taped up to the rubber seal, when it expands and contracts it will crack at the seal, then you go into this car wash and flake your clear coat off. Also if the tool who repaird it didn't scotch the adjacent panels that have been clear coated that's coming off aswell. Also the high powered air blower? It's not unusual to use an air compressor to remove poor paint, and to aid with vinyl wrap removal..

What was the point of the car wash being touchless when a couple of blokes drag some scruffy towels over it at the end?
You've also got to question how strong the chemicals are if they can remove dirt without touching the car.

We do what people want. We have been cleaning cars for over 15 years and we know what people want. The wash is completely touchless and the hand finish is optional.

  • @PepegaPig

All of the defects will be put in during drying. I'm a detailer, even new cloths, the car will not be perfectly clean prior to using the cloth.
Never will support the use of these methods if you are into your car care. Those swirls are horrible.
Those swirls are not normal from safe washing on PPF or wrapped car (I'm a ppf installer too).
Otherwise a good video and I like the wrap colour.
The touchless bit is fine - using 0tds water would be fine. Don't bother with the drying.

They use way too high of pressure and it will tear through your emblem glues. Not ideal but ok in a pinch.
