Congratulations to Jacob Kiplimo. I think he will break the marathon record in the future. He’s next to take over after Eliud Kipchoge if he stays focus.
That's a probability, he may end up being great in marathon even than kipchoge or end up like Zersenay Tadese who did not do well in marathon regardless of being unbeatable in half marathon.
@@osuk1 very true. I think kelvin kiptum future in marathon is far predictable than that of Kiplimo even with just one marathon win during his debut last year.
It was amazing to see these guys run in person , as I was running this too . Congrats on a superb race . Conditions were so difficult but so happy to get a pb of 1:12:42!!
Kiplimo makes this race look like a leisurely jog. He is so young yet so talented at these distances. If he stays consistent I think were watching the making of the heir to Kipchoge
Kiplimo has it all, hardest surge, amazing home stretch kick and one of the greatest stamina. It was honestly just walk in the central park for him and one of the most dominating performance as victory of the history.
It's a unique course to see some of the best run with hills in the first 5k, then a big downhill, then a big bridge to a flat section. Seems they knew how to pace it well and the elites stuck to a solid plan. Really fun to watch and run the other day!
The temps sucked but the wind was the killer, which makes it all the more impressive. 10+mph winds from WNW direction, so you pretty much had a headwind for most of the course.
If that's the case Obiri was the real story of this race, to have beaten the event record in those conditions. It would have been more relevant to make a video on her.
It’s kinda cool to see that two of the Japanese athletes who ran in the Hakone Ekiden (the most well known and elite college 10 man long distance relay race) both placed top 20 because I was wondering how the Hakone Ekiden rivals other foreign competition
We are starting to see new runners rise as the older legends start to retire... upcoming: kelvin kiptum, amos kipruto, jacob kiplimo, jakob inbergisten, .Retiring: mo farah, kenesia bekele, AND, (hopefully not) KIPCHOGE.
Is the women’s race going to get its own breakdown? When you do videos on single performances it’s well deserved. But I think entire meet/race result breakdowns with a little more attention to top athletes would be a better format
My also concern for Kiplimo is that Jacob is going to pick a half Marathon and request his coach to adjust hoş training and train for a world record time. These two are great friends and great competitors. Kiplimo is a fantastik runner and his got more of a better running form on the longer distance for the road the Jacob but Jacob historically always comebacks very hard after loosing races.
By now I think Kiplimo has officially overtaken Cheptegei’s number one seat of Road running. When we see a sub 2 hour marathon it will most likeley be come from Kiplimo, Barega or Kiptum. They are all significantly younger than Cheptegei and imo lighter to the eye in terms of running form. Only think I find pretty said is that we are propably not see as fast track times (5.000m/10.000m) when most of the top guys (Kejelcha, Cheptegei, Aregawi, Kiplimo, Kipruto, Barega and slowly eyeing up their Marathon career built up) Where did Rupp finish?
@@LMAOMAOMAOMAOMAO in his way to the world record... He passed the half mark in 59mins:53sec.. that's not slow even for half marathon, slow is word which can't be used to describe Kipchoge
@@nichokituku4799 I'm saying he's too slow to be running a sub 2 marathon in an official race because of his age. He probably has a few years left and a few more marathons so the chances of him breaking sub 2 is very slim compared to kiptum and kiplimo or barega who has like at least 15 years left before retiring.
@@LMAOMAOMAOMAOMAO yes, but judging who is the best road runner by what they might achieve in their career is just backwards. Who knows, perhaps I may run a sub 2 marathon one day.
Those guys are amazing. However, it doesn't makes sense comparing Lisbon to the NYC Half. The NYC Half has a great deal of elevation gain and Lisbon is pancake flat.
I thought this would have really suited the 5k and 10k world record holder, Cheptegei. An easy warm up first 10k then a progressive pace second 10k. Surely this was ideal for Cheptegei to win. Kiplimo must be better than him now? This is two victories in a row after world XC champs at Bathurst.
To break 2hrs in his marathon debut that's not true may be after sometime when he gets used to it. Remember half marathon n full marathon are different one can not be good in both. Maybe Kelvin Kiptum who in his debut ran 2 .01.53.
Kiplimo is quickly becoming the greatest HM runner ever. It wouldn't surprise me if he is the runner to break 2 hours in the marathon one day.
Kiyptum(forgot how to spell it), kipchogee, and that other dude I forgot his last name gos brrrr.just for jokes.
just ran the race today and the course is crazy hard, props to everyone who ran it
You look a little overweight, no wonder it was hard for you.
We are proud of Kiplimo and Cheptegei always. Thank you for raising our flag 🇺🇬 high💪🏽🫶🏽
Congratulations to Jacob Kiplimo. I think he will break the marathon record in the future. He’s next to take over after Eliud Kipchoge if he stays focus.
Marathon is a different game.
That's a probability, he may end up being great in marathon even than kipchoge or end up like Zersenay Tadese who did not do well in marathon regardless of being unbeatable in half marathon.

It will be Kelvin kiptum to beat kipchoge's record... pretty sure
42km is something else 🤣after 32km u start debating n questioning urself 🤣I doubt !he Needs to work hard to keep dt pace

that is very fast! keep it up!
Mad impressive, it's insane how good the human body can get at things like running!!!
Wow that's super fast man.
Slow compared to Kiplimo

ffs, ofc its faster than your school record 🤣

Great video TRP. Many thanks. Cheers.
Kiplimo's form and style of running is so fit for road racing. Poetry in motion.

You know when that beat kicks in on the TRP video, some fast running is about to go down 🏃🏿♂️🏃🏿♂️🏃🏿♂️
As much as I've heard Kiplimo's name, I thought he was much older. Greatness in the making folks.
Just Amazing!!
Thanks,beaut to watch
Dude I went to central to watch them this morning. Was so happy for the few seconds they both ran past me 😅
I know Gideys WR time was achieved with much better conditions, but her time would have placed her 4th in this race lol
It just goes to show how great her record is

Congratulations
I love everything about Kiplimo, his stride, his grit, his wholesome smile. I think he has a great, long running career ahead of him
I love the half marathon!
I was at the race. Crazy to see his half marathon in person
Kiplimo is unbeatable. Absolute stud
Chris Thompson finished 16th in 1.04.32, ahead of Galen Rupp. He now has his memorable story to tell his grandkids:-)
Kiplimo is ridiculous, really hope he’s clean because I love watching him. He’s up next
No dope in Uganda 🇺🇬 they’ve always done clean
I like cheptegei's style of running
Nice run from Ben True!
4:19 for a Mile after so many miles!!!! That’s nuts man! People have no idea how that is! Chai! 😮
❤❤ Love it!!! Kiplimo!!!!!

What a beast! 😮 I’ve just run the race yesterday in 1:25:35. 😅

The smoothest runners, Jacob and Gidey. I'm happy this style of runners, with smooth technique, keep wining.

I ran this half and it was cold and windy and hilly, but amazing. A truly mental race.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Marathon record was 1:59, set by Kipchoge.

kiplimo is still young n still going far ! cheptegei was on his heels ,it was competitive
it was a windy one too, almost 30km/hr the whole time
What place did Boling come in -- ;)
crazy how mile times get that much lower that late in the race..amazing
Also on Central Park south where I was standing,Helen Obiri had a nice gap on Teferi. 3rd place was sooo far behind at that point
LFG!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Kiplimo really went insaneo style at the end.
Seeing Frank Lara in the top 10 is so cool!
Yup, that's right.
0:24 actually wrong, Cheptegei has a gold and a silver medal at the Olympics
