  • @BombDonald
    @BombDonald 7 лет назад +26

    I like the lighter approach to strongman training that he preaches. It seems too many strongmen get into the idea of always going heavy and thus getting hurt all the time. There is a time and place for going heavy, but only after you've established good technique and built a base from lighter training. Even then, going heavy all the time doesn't seem necessary.

    The periodization quickly becomes important as soon as you get some serious weight going. Something everyone will learn sooner or later, or you'll find yourself one day suddenly being seriously weak after being used to feeling pretty strong ;)

    I'm not a competitor, but I workout and try to get information to do it better all the time. And for me this is fantastic, I really need a strenght program and how to divide my train properly. It's very hard to find a competent coach where I live, I'm tired of seeing "personal trainers' putting on wrong technics.

    Hey Alan and Brian, I really appreciate this video. I have my first strongman in two months here in TX and I've been going at it hard everyday but I can see what Brian is talking about with the cns and bodyparts getting strained. Makes sense with his programming- smart stuff. Also, Alan, I was trying the tire flips with your form from your strength challenge. I definitely like that method and no one else in the gym has seen that before.

    -60-70% with 3-5 reps
    -70-80% for 8-12 reps

    Hi everyone, i'm 17, my weight is 61kg and i started powerlifting about 7 months ago and have achieved the results i wanted 7 months ago. But now, i'm aiming for a 160kg deadlift, a 130kg squats and a 90kg benchpress. Currently, my max for each lift is 130kg , 90kg and a 80kg respectively. I can see results for both my squats and bench but it is going at a very slow rate. As for deadlift , i have been feeling no strength gained but instead my strength is going down. ( Sorry for my bad english.) I will start from my deadlift. Ever since i have broken my 130kg record which was at 16 April with a very bad form and i didn't deload that week. Ever since then, my deadlift has been shit whenever i try to do 90 - 100kg for reps. I tried to have a 2 weeks break but when i came back, i can see a little to none improvement to my deadlift. After that, i tried to take a 1 week break and i came back worser. How can i fix it? As for my squats and bench, it has been improving very slowly. I don't really have a problem for my squats as i can feel the weight getting lighter each month. But for my bench, ever since i have taken the 1 week rest along with the deadlift, i couldn't even do 60kg for reps. I used to be able to spam the 60kg bench for 8 reps for set. But i can't even pause the weight without having a little bit of difficulty grinding the weights. How do i solve this problem i am having? Can anyone help me? Also , i don't really have a meal plan. I eat whenever i like which some days after hitting gym, i don't really eat at all. My sleep schedule is all messed up due to my insomnia. Sometimes sleeping only for 4 hours and sometimes 9.

    • @jkoelj
      @jkoelj 8 лет назад

      the main reasons are you must sleep more , eat more so you gain weight and more muscle and more strength, maybe go on a different program like 5x3x1 or something, i mean try different programs and see which one Works best for you :)

      From what I understand, Strength is what you always start with, then Assistance, then Strongman. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense (to me at least) to do you assistance work before your main lift, which would eventually occur if you always do heavy-medium-light.
