Exactly but sad to see the state of "country music " today. It is no longer country but rock and at times hard rock which you can't even follow, tap your feet and sing along; let alone dance to.
There is even RAP in so called country. I keep a sick bag by the radio just in case I can't switch channels fast enough. This lady is gorgeous and sings beautifully. She always lands on the note. Pitch perfect.
To Susie Boggess thank you for doing that song that was a beautiful song Patsy, Montana did and I remember hearing years ago but I forgot about it and I watched a movie called lone star really good movie anyway at the very end of the movie they played that song well, I wrote the name of it down And then I googled it anyways young lady you did a very good job with that song and you seem like a really nice person. I like the way you did it. This is Jim mungai from Kennerdell Pennsylvania. I love the old country western music some of the stuff they have today, they shouldn’t even be allowed to call it country and western music. Some of it sounds like it a lot of this music is made on an assembly line. There’s no heart and feeling in it now there’s some good guys out there and gals anyway keep up with your doing.
You know she’s a fantastic singer bc you relax when you listen to her. She looks happy and at home just singing and it’s not forced or strained. She’s amazing- and not everyone can sing this song!!!
I used to work for Suzy's distribution company for 12 years (CEMA/EMI). I met her at least 4 times and she was as genuine and sweet as you'd imagine she'd be. She's from Moline, Illinois which is part of the Quad cities Rockport , Ill, Davenport and Bettendorf Iowa which is where my Mom's family is from. She was and still is one of my all-time favorites. I never get tired of listening to her and appreciating her angelic beauty.
No one sings this song this well. This woman is pitch perfect every time, and easy as she sings it. Suzy Bogguss is a good example of buried country talent. Great singer.
and to think i only discovered her by watching a Jerry Jeff video of her fantastic version of Night Rider's Lament...my loss but now I've found her not gonna let her get away
FIRST I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER VOICE...the first time I heard her sing, then, I saw her in a video. And it was love at first sight! I've loved her ever since! Even at 60 years of age, that beautiful effortless voice is still clear as a bell.
Saw her in concert once. She flew in to replace Pan Tillis on the bill. She played a guitar I think she borrowed from Ricky Van Shelton who was headlining. Best concert I ever saw. She didn’t “perform” or do a dozen costume changes, she just sang beautifully.
I saw her last week, and her voice was as pure as this. Got to meet her! It was one of the best performances I have ever seen. I hope to see her again soon.
Can’t believe I missed her talent in early days. We are the same age but she went to HS about 25 miles away. Not surprising she was her Homecoming Queen at Aledo
My grandpa listened to this on a drive. 5 hours one way, and we went there and back. This song over and over and grandpa whistling only to stop when she started yodeling.
I was at a fuel center getting gasoline when a car playing loud rap music disturbed me. I turned up this song so loud that it drowned out their music, until they finally gave up. She is a great artist with a wonderful voice, singing a great yodeling song.
Saw her in a awhile back in concert. She was fabulous! She signed my tee shirt with a heart. I've been in love ever since. I wonder if she still thinks of me? 😃
I was inspired to find the original (1935) and listen. On the same page was a thumbnail of you singing the same song. So I listened to you. Damn Suzy, you killed it on the yodeling. That is one of my favorite shots of you. That blue dress looked gorgeous on you. I love the black hat, definitely your brand. You know, like Terri Clark’s black cowboy hat. I think that both are iconic. So some WDW we should all vote on whose hat we like the most and you can give us the results. And maybe you and Terri could place a personal bet on which one of you will win. 💕
Boy I wish I knew her a cowboy's sweetheart wow boy I wish I could know her I'll tell you she's a sweetheart of a girl out wow well bye bye for now remember I'll be watching you tonight Boston fans your great thank you for going to Boston been spending all kinds of money I said yeah Vine t-shirts and whatever have a wonderful time cuz I'll be watching you and taping the whole show here is the Democratic Cowboy Ranch bye bye for now Democratic
Was that Patsy Montana in the audience? Say it's so! No wonder that old lady in the glasses enjoyed Suzy Bogguss' rendition and had that smile on her face! That had to be Patsy Montana, or my name isn't Thomas Tarwater---and it is.

Sigh, why can't country music sound like this anymore? Suzy is one of the all-time greats.
Exactly but sad to see the state of "country music " today. It is no longer country but rock and at times hard rock which you can't even follow, tap your feet and sing along; let alone dance to.
The money got in the way.
Because those millennials ruined everything!
I totally agree!
There is even RAP in so called country. I keep a sick bag by the radio just in case I can't switch channels fast enough.

The black Bolero with that blue one-piece makes a most incredibly soothing photograph. And yodeling? Suzy B is the Best!
Good point. People didn't need to flaunt everything to look great and pleasing to the eye. Just a classier dress back in those days.
You're an all-time great Suzy. The chance to see someone genuinely country in the likes of you is forever lost in today's brand of country music.
If you've never had a crush on Suzy raise your hand........anyone??. That's what I thought.
Not until now
Sure do…🇬🇧
😂😂😂😂
Me
You know she’s a fantastic singer bc you relax when you listen to her. She looks happy and at home just singing and it’s not forced or strained. She’s amazing- and not everyone can sing this song!!!

Spot on.
Agreed.
Except Patsy Montana !!!
@@64JBran it is Patsy's signature song. Full of life.
Yes, she is a perfect example of country talent. But let’s not limit the talent to just country. Suzy is a great talent, PERIOD.
I saw her in concert in Glasgow in the late70’s early 80’s and she made me cry because she touched every nerve in my body !
I heard in an interview that Patsy Montana was thrilled with Suzy's version of this song - that a new singer was yodeling. Love it!
it is such a pleasure to listen to a great singer and you can actually understand the words
One of the greatest and prettiest singers ever that no one knew about because she had bad management.
and to think i only discovered her by watching a Jerry Jeff video of her fantastic version of Night Rider's Lament...my loss but now I've found her not gonna let her get away
Saw her in Moab maybe back in 2011? Awesome talent and beautiful.
FIRST I FELL IN LOVE WITH HER VOICE...the first time I heard her sing, then, I saw her in a video. And it was love at first sight! I've loved her ever since! Even at 60 years of age, that beautiful effortless voice is still clear as a bell.
And always perfectly on pitch, a rarity these days!
Saw her in concert once. She flew in to replace Pan Tillis on the bill. She played a guitar I think she borrowed from Ricky Van Shelton who was headlining. Best concert I ever saw. She didn’t “perform” or do a dozen costume changes, she just sang beautifully.
Saw her in concert when I was a college sophomore and loved her music eversince.
Saw her October 2022 and it was absolutely amazing. Her and Kathy Mattea made for a great show. Wish she would come back
Great job! She has been a great singer foir many years, and is so easy to look at.
I saw her last week, and her voice was as pure as this. Got to meet her! It was one of the best performances I have ever seen. I hope to see her again soon.

I want to be a cowboy's sweetheart
I want to learn to rope and to ride
I want to ride o'er the plains and the desert
Out west of the great divide
I want to hear the coyotes howlin'
While the sun sets in the West
I want to be a cowboy's sweetheart
That's the life that I love best
I want to ride Old Paint, goin' at a run
I wanna feel the wind in my face
A thousand miles from all the city lights
Goin' cowhand's pace
I want to pillow my head near the sleeping herd
While the moon shines down from above
I want to strum my guitar and odo-lay-eee-hee
Oh, that's the life that I love
I want to be a cowboy's sweetheart
I want to learn to rope and to ride
I want to ride o'er the plains and the desert
Out west of the great divide
I want to hear the coyotes howlin'
While the sun sets in the West
I wanna be a cowboy's sweetheart
That's the life that I love best

Thanks for the lyrics, Mike !
Does anyone know who the piano player is? I am doing a study on Western Swing and need data for my project. Everyone here is amazing!
Great
She is so damn gorgeous and sings real fine.
A lady of Country Wow
How did yodeling get from Switzerland to the American West?
People who moved to the American West from places like Switzerland. In Kentucky in old times, people could yell out over mountains to pass messages, they called the slopes Hollers; as in Loretta Lynn's childhood home, Butcher's Holler. People have been using the method since migrating into mountains from the beginning of mountain living.
Dont like country, very few that i like , Suzy Bogguss is right at the top, should've been as famous as Reba so underrated
She is Awesome! Where is she now?
Still performing, well after the virus, and you can look her up on her website.
100% !!!!! NH
S
It's good bro
Yeah. She's really playing that guitar
Why did they put that big old microphone right in front of such a beautiful face?
Little 7-year-old Ezrah Noelle does a darn good version of this song. Go listen to it on RUclips.
