    Hi Mika, I'm so impressed by your music. I wonder how you did that because I like this style a lot. Are there any making of videos showing some technics from the sratch?

    • @MikaForsling
      @MikaForsling  3 года назад

      Hey Jens, I'm glad you like it! My music are often based on longer chord progressions that are being sequenced by Ableton. Its not really any technique but more about finding nice chords and sounds, and find a way how to interact with these. A good way of exploring chords are to program one really long bordun tone/note and play around with different chords you feel fits to the bordun. As an example if you have the note C as bordun following chords (could) work: Cm, C,C#MAJ, D7, D#MAJ, Em, F, Fm, F#b5, G11 ,G#, AM, A#m9, B7B9 etc. Next step are to find chords that fit nicely together and here I always try to find a good baseline between the chords. So this could for example end up in a four chord loop, containing following chords: G#, Fm, C, Cm/Eb.. Hope it not got to much theory..

    • @MikaForsling
      @MikaForsling  2 года назад

      Hi He Feng and thank you! In this setup the Op-1 goes straight into the MOOD and Zoia and then to the K-mix. The K-mix actually have three stereo aux sends but no dedicated returns, so I’m using send 1&2 for reverb/delay which goes to a small sub mixer and back to K-mix as one stereo track..

    Would love to see a video on how your gear is set up, through the op1 and ableton.. What are you using as the main trigger and what is the sequencer?

    • @MikaForsling
      @MikaForsling  3 года назад +1

      Hey Dylan! I have all my hardware synths on different channels in Ableton as "external instruments" and all my sequences are on different clips that I trigger from my K-mix(midi controller).. Since the OP-1 are connected by USB midi(bi directional) I can use it as a midi controller to my other synths, a stand alone synth, or triggered from my Ableton clips.

    • @PeruLover
      @PeruLover 3 года назад

      @@MikaForsling Haha! Cheers for the reply! I actually picked up a perfourmer a couple of days ago more or less because of your channel. It's way beyond what I'm used to. Or rather.. A different style.. Very unique and steep learning curve. Though I can't take my hands away from it. Last few days I have been feeling really odd after 8-10 hours on it. Ha ha! Such an amazing machine. Anyways, cheers for the insight. I've been using ableton also, but trying to break away from the screen as much as possible. I Dont know how you can use that OP1.. I'd need a pair of tweezers to turn the knobs. Ha ha. Cheers and take care.

    • @MikaForsling
      @MikaForsling  3 года назад +6

      For me, the most inspiring with new instruments are in the beginning when you don’t know anything what’s going on. As soon as you start to learn a instrument better you’ll start doing things you’re always doing, so take really good care of these moments of chaos because thats where the beauty hides.. Nice you’re having your own perfourmer!

    • @PeruLover
      @PeruLover 3 года назад

      @@MikaForsling I guess you are right. If we strive for something abstract, in learning the machine you become rhythmic. Perhaps I should record the times before I become rhythmic. Thanks for the continual inspiration. Those moments between me and the synth although some times can become intense. It is like a language between me and the world. Without sounding overly escoteric. Highly enjoyable. And thanks for making sounds as you do. Would be great to see an opening from you walking into the studio in the morning to the end. Much love from Scotland. Dylan.

    • @MikaForsling
      @MikaForsling  4 года назад +1

    • @culebrafabian

      @@MikaForsling the big sky seem to be colder than the oto bam. I love the model 200 lexicon units that give more a 3D sound and you don't have to cut the bass frequencies. It always a pleasure to listen your musique. Thanks

    • @MikaForsling
