You always deliver. Great track. Always captivated by these chord progressions of yours. And when the rest blends so nicely... Well I keep watching these. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Phil, thanks! I don’t have any system other than to experiment and embrace lucky failures and coincidences when they occur. This arpeggio in 12/4 was f.x an idea I made on guitar, but when it’s was played through the 4 voices of the perfourmer some polyrhythms occurred(lucky for me). But it’s always fun to play around with, and change, how many notes the chords have your arpeggiating, or the subdivision of the arpeggiator.
Yo man How can i learn melodies and layers like the performances that you make? Its quite minimalistic yet it seams not! Any advice ? As this genre really triggers my nervous system.
Hey Mika. I really like your videos and soundproductions. Which reverb and delay pedals do you prefer using with the perfourmer. Or on bass-synths in general?
Hey, thank you Tobias! For basses I prefer something short and springy. I mainly use the BX-20 for that, but I would say that most reverbs will do, depending how you set them. When I perform live I'm using Abletons reverb which sounds great. For the perfourmer, and the way I use it, I like delay a lot, but if we're speaking about reverbs I would use some more lush and long, like the OTO BAM, Eventide Space or Big Sky. Today there's so many reverbs out there, so my only recommendation is to try out different ones(and plugins if you're working with DAW) and listen which one you like.
Hey Mika, I have two questions: 1. what´s the name of the device in the middle with the woodpanels (That MPC style machine). 2. where did you get that T-Shirt (seriously I like it).
The thing in the middle are an Ableton Push, and my T-Shirt(yes it’s also lovely to wear) are an 70s one, so unfortunately I can’t tell where to get it!
If you mean how long it took to build the track, the arpeggio sequence was an idea, I made on a acoustic guitar, programmed into ableton. Then it took a couple of hours to build the track with other instruments, jamming and figure out some technical stuff(how/what instruments should be used and how to connect everything). Last part was to find the right climax and compose the song backwards, by scraping of layers, which was fast done. Did I answer your question?
Thank you! In this case I just wrote the notes manually into Ableton(to get the idea into the sequencer as fast as possible) but it would actually been better with an arpeggiator since it would have giving me more control over the arpeggio. For the drums, there’s an random arpeggiator in Ableton doing the triggering.
Hi Mika, big fan of your stuff:) I wanted to ask if you program the sequences with Push or do you play them in by hand? Will you make a how to make a Forsling song tutorial someday? cheers
Thank you lin lu! I use both - I love the push for drum/step sequences, or for playing chords/arpeggios, but for longer sequences I often work in the computer(it gives a better view). Yes, a tutorial would be great fun!
Each time I come back to your channel, I tell to myself that I could listen to your music for days... years...life in fact. Thank you !

there something like Trentemoller, but it's cool

The arpeggio has a touch of classical music.
Yes, the chords and their tensions relates a lot to classical music!
This is such a good performance. Sonically sounds great also! How are you keeping everything in sync here? Great stuff
Thank You Nizer! Everything are MIDI-synced from Ableton.
Are you running you mix entirely through the Oto Machines pedals?

Very well done !

@@MikaForsling Yes !
Thank you !
So so good! Are you using any particular arpeggiator or sequencer in Ableton or are you just manually writing in the notes?
