I was just thinking this! On stage whenever he wasn't performing he seemed so shy and softspoken and I love that contrast, I recently saw him with AJJ both in Denver and Sante Fe. I feel for him, I think he had a rough time growing up which I relate with and I can't get enough of his beautiful angstiness. 🥺
I get that this was before Jamie came out as nonbinary but they use they/them pronouns

Love or hate Fantano, he is a damn good interviewer. He knows when to keep it serious and when to have a laugh with the artist in question. Easily one of the most in touch reviewers and interviewers out there and just keep it up 👍
He was awful at first. His Damon alabram one was v bad

I’ve met Jamie twice in person and have talked with him a tiny bit online. He’s such a delightful person and I will forever be astonished by his art. Knowing his jaded history with music journalism, I’m happy he likes you!! Great interview.

This was from a long time ago and my memory is a bit fuzzy but I swear I heard him talking about being in San Francisco after one of their gig and he just went out for a walk with some fans from the show. And he was talking about walking down the street with them. That is such a Jamie Stewart thing to do.

I emailed Jamie back in the mid 2000's and was surprised he responded. He responded in a timely fashion too and I felt that I should not over stay my welcome and ask him too many questions. I emailed like three times and he responded all three. Jamie is cool. Love Xiu Xiu.
I’ve always found that Jamie can be a little reserved in interviews but he seems very open here, a testament to Anthony as an interviewer for sure
He's got really good questions so I imagine the guests respect him way way more just because of that. Plus, fantano is a very well spoken guy and imo very smart too.

i've heard mixed stories about how he acts but from my (limited) interactions with him he's seem lovely. from the stories i've heard it just sounds like he was having a bad day and wasn't really in the mood. i think people tend to forget he's human.

I am always so incredibly impressed by Fantano's fantastic interviewing skills. Fantano has such an underrated talent for having interesting, deep, and unique discussions with such a wide array of artists.

Jamie seems like an incredible soul. I only listened to some of Xiu Xiu's more recent stuff and have been intrigued by the variety in sounds theyve been able to produce but tomorrow begins a deep dive for sure!

A promise, Angel Guts, Knife Play, are the dark and abrasive ones but the most rewarding
Always is to me like a sequel to Fabulous Muscles, but with a different vibe
They're all really good of course, have fun listening!

I like this guy. It's so weird to think that I first heard this voice in a Horse theBand song and ten years after, a song that genuinely terrified me to the point of never returning to it. And here he is, a super thoughtful, interesting man. I'm thankful I got to catch him pre-shutdown with HEALTH and Daughters.

I've interviewed Gira once. Dude's initmidating as fuck, but also very professional - he treats interviews like a job. If Antoni Fontana would come up with well-versed, non-vague questions, probably a great interview could be a result.

I remember going to Jamie's solo show in Moscow back in 2018 (I think). He played a lot of songs from Dear God I Hate Myself, accompanied only by his guitar with a lot of crazy effects pedals. That was a truly transformative experience.

I discovered XiuXiu thanks to an Italian RUclipsr who talks mostly about books, but also about movies, fashion, perfumes and music. He said that once he was super early to a xiuxiu show and Jamie hang out with him and gifted him a cd. Like that's the best thing ever

i've been a big xiu xiu fan since ninth grade, so for 14 years (or half my life!) but have never actually seen an interview with jamie stewart, and obviously am kind surprised by how "normal" he seems, though also shouldn't be
