@daboiii7822 ummm yeah they did/do... I'm 1st generation American and grew up in Queens and went to hs and college in Manhattan and that's just how do it... hell, back in the day aka 1999-2004/5 I started every sentence with yo and ended every sentence with son... it wasn't just me it was just how everybody talked... I mean I will say the only club I was a part of was the hip-hop/breakdance club (got the yearbook picture to prove it lol) I mean for most of those years all I did was listen to rap, hiphop and r&b and Nas was my EVERY.DAMN.THING. (I mean he could still get it but I've added some balance since then) Like if I was growing up now everyone would say I was appropriating "black culture" when in reality I was LIVING for it... I had 3 black girls ask me if I was black ro which I just pulled back the sleeve of my ecko red sweatsuit and said "obviously" because I was all about that life. I mean if anything THEY were wrong for asking me that only because I was rocking my bombass black and red echo red sweatsuit, my Tims, my matching red and black northface bag, my XXL magazine (Nas was on the cover so I OBVI had to get it that morning), and my discman that had my bootleg copy of Nas' newest album God's Son in it... they asked what I was listening to when they saw I had the magazine so I popped it open and they saw the bootlegged copy lol... so they put all that together and I guess that was all it took for me to be black in their eyes... Even with my blonde hair, blue eyes and pale af skin and asked me that... I then said "Nah, my parents came here from Croatia" to which one girl responded with "Wait, that's like northern Africa right?" We went to a performing arts hs (Miss Nikki Minaj graduated the year before me but she was a drama student and I was an art student so not much overlap but I didn't even recognize her when she blew up... anyway) so geography wasn't really necessary... well back then all that mattered there was talent, now it's harder to get into cause they actually care about grades in classes that ACTUALLY matter instead of just taking the most talented kids in the 5 boroughs for the 5 majors (art, vocals, instruments, drama and dance)...
But yeah my hs was very, very mixed race wise... hell, it was mixed in every way, race, religion, culture, borough, sexual orientation, etc... it was, probably still is, a very very very liberal school... I mean my first day of high school at 13 years old I was taking the escalators up with my big ass artbox, portfolio AND backpack and saw 2 dudes making out and as I continued up I saw 2 girls making out, which was the first time I saw all that in public... both the hardcore making out AND the same sexes doing it. I graduated with a boy who changed his name to Angel and who walked around school in a halo, wings, heels and a thong one Halloween... so yeah if he could do all that then my white ass could be who I was too...
I mean I guess it also helped that we spoke Croatian at home since my parents were immigrants and therefore it was my first language and all that but yeah my parents knew I talked how I talked cause everytime I used the phone to call a friend it'd be on the house landline and therefore they'd hear it all LOL
But I will also say that I'm one of those people that pick up accents so my accent changes. Like my Queens accent was different from my Manhattan accent was different from my Croatian accent was different from my Spanish accent was different from my Long Island accent was different from my business accent...
so yeah... my parents didn't give 2 fucks how I talked or dressed or what I listened too or whatever as long as I was safe and as long as I was a good person...

I mean white kids is outta control callin their parents all kinds of crazy shit and then just getting a "timeout" or a "we don't say those words" blah fucking blah...
I came from white immigrant parents... the most important part of that sentence is IMMIGRANT aka moms had the wooden spoon at the ready 24/7 even when she ain't in the kitchen... she stayed ready wit it, ya feel me?
I thank the lord that since I had to come from white parents that I came from immigrant white parents cause if I didn't I mighta ended up being a fuckin terror... like those demon white kids these days... I don't have kids yet (hopefully I'll have um soon just gotta find me a mans) but I know imma have to fuck em up every so often so that they don't end up as trash humans...

I can't imagine any CEO, wealthy business owner, professional person or anyone who wants to be taken seriously using language like that at work, or in certain social settings; perhaps at home, but not in the business world unless he's or she is a rapper. Even JayZ cleaned up his English. When I hear people taking like that, I don't really take them seriously.

@@utubechannel3846 - Yes, that’s racism. Languages change over time and space. These changes, so long as they’re mutually intelligible with other versions of the language are called dialects. They are a natural facet of the human condition.
What _isn’t_ natural is the “prestige” certain dialects have over others. This sense you have that “any CEO, wealthy business owner, professional person, or anyone who wants to be taken seriously” wouldn’t speak with this accent in the business world is because dialects spoken by the lower class or by minorities are viewed as “lowly” and unsuited for polite company.
It’s why black people have to code switch when engaging in “professional environments”, discarding their natural way of speech to cater to the ignorance and arrogance of others. Otherwise, their careers may be hindered due to the prejudices of the people with power.
Minus the cussing (that’s impolite in any language or culture), there is nothing wrong with how she’s speaking. You can understand her perfectly. She’s just not talking White enough for you.
Also, it’s not ebonics. Did you time travel straight from the 90s? The proper name for this dialect is African American Vernacular English.
