"All I do know is that the Major here, who is in charge of a complex and combined operation cannot rise to the purchase of a WATCH!!!" I love this guy.
5:45 -- Farthingale: "Disciplined troops dissert sir! Nonsense!" Wellington: "Don't be a damned fool sir! Discipline is only a rabble rousers ____ from anarchy sir!" Wellington: "Mark me close colonel. What do you think the supreme virtue sir?" "To the Frenchman and his recent revolution it is Liberty", to the Whig puffing in Parliament it is license to do anything providing it does not disturb his pleasure, but to the common soldier it is anarchy to do whatever he please & be damned ..."
"To his fellow. But to me and Bonaparte, the supreme virtue is _order._ We are not whigs. We know that a man may love his neighbor of a Monday, and massacre him of a Tuesday, unless _Society keeps him in order._ These deserters, if not secured and shot, will destroy my army more surely than Bonaparte. And I'll thank you not to forget it."
nairne: his majesty the prince... blah blah blah... the major:" far be it from me to question his judgement" (that mad fat german)" wellington: having a damn fine time of it all, quietly.
It's interesting... in the book, when Sharpe is promoted, he feels some heartbreak as he is only made a Major in the ARMY of Great Britain, which means that it's a brevet rank. If it were a full rank, it would have read "Major in the Regiment of the South Essex" or something to that effect.
Pete Postlethwaite is so great as a villain, I had to watch the Sharpe episodes with Pete Postlethwaite after I heard of his death. His work against climate change was truly inspirational.
@TheCommunistColin: Well bollocks!! I had thought it was either food storage, or possibly ammo - the tents being tarpaulins, rather than actual quarters....
Sounds like Wellington didn't think much of his soldiers, but I think back then there were mostly given the choice of the army or prison, which would explain it. Then again, call me a bleeding heart but the treatment they got what with all the floggings would have driven many to desert
@Lepper36: As you can see, I've resolved this with @TheCommunistColin but thanks anyway. You can see my theories about them being food or ammo under tarpaulins.
@TheCommunistColin: Dude, I hope that wasn't meant to be sarcastic, 'cause (1) my eyesight's kind of crap and (2) from that distance they look like oversized eggs - I had thought they might be food storage.....
"Sharpe's Company" is missing. So this is NOT in chronological order and NOT all of them. Viewers will wonder who "that guy that hates Sharpe" is because there's a whole chapter missing.
any scene involving Wellington and Nairn is a study in how to politely and legally BITCHSLAP your opponent into aristocratic submission
"etc etc etc...... blah blah blah" lol love that guy.
"I'll be dead, but sure, I'll be drunk". Brilliant last words. I plan to use them when my time comes.
Wellington's remarks to Augustus are spot on. Great acting.
"All I do know is that the Major here, who is in charge of a complex and combined operation cannot rise to the purchase of a WATCH!!!"
I love this guy.
''Rocket troop; reload'' lol, optimistic!

Sharpe: You speak a word, and your dead Harper
Harper: I be dead, but sure I be drunk
Spoken like a true Irish Man

Hugh Fraser is a fine actor.
Pete Postlethwaite is so great as a villain, I had to watch the Sharpe episodes with Pete Postlethwaite after I heard of his death. His work against climate change was truly inspirational.
I always use rockets against the French towns in Age of Empires 3.
Factory Card for the win!
Rocket troops... comedy gold.
I love it when Wellington takes no bullshit.
Sharpe looks like he's going to die of shock when Nosey reads out the letter from the Prince.
".oh...oh dear"...CHEESE IT:P
@TheCommunistColin: Well bollocks!! I had thought it was either food storage, or possibly ammo - the tents being tarpaulins, rather than actual quarters....
Well, he'd already dodged death, by his mind, when Teresa questioned him and Harper about Lady Farthingdale..
Oh i"ll find a use for you Mr. Gillian..dont you worry about that
I'll be damned... is that captain hastings that plays Wellington?
@NobleKorhedron Tents or covered wagons, I believe...
The rocket troop captain reminds me of a stereotypical nerd who likes to play with rockets.
woop woop a major!
Considering some of the officers they've put up with, no damned wonder.
@NobleKorhedron Those are called "Tents".
Go SHARPE!!!!! excuse me, Major Sharpe!!11 woohoo!
Sharpe's Enemy... which one? 😏
Sounds like Wellington didn't think much of his soldiers, but I think back then there were mostly given the choice of the army or prison, which would explain it. Then again, call me a bleeding heart but the treatment they got what with all the floggings would have driven many to desert
I feel like we're missing a few episodes in between?

Matt Truman...
Now in Portugal and Spain.. Blah.. Blah... Blah....Hell of a promotion to Major...
By calling each other "old boy"?
@Lepper36: As you can see, I've resolved this with @TheCommunistColin but thanks anyway. You can see my theories about them being food or ammo under tarpaulins.

What are those weird things at 02:11 that look like eggs in the middle of the English camp?
They are covered wagons
@suelizjohnson shroud i think is the missing word :)
@suelizjohnson the ____ is "shout"
@stringybark thx
It would all depend on who was commisioned first
