I honestly thought that when I saw the animated version. The way Disney portrayed him in the animated version should have been a tell-tale sign that he was gay. I just don't get why this is such a big deal. It's a fucking fiction movie for gods sake.
Actually there's a lot of little parts that hint at it throughout the movie, but the one I'm guessing you're talking about is at the end when they're all dancing. Also, it's a big deal because this is freaking DISNEY, a huge well known company coming out and saying "Hey one of our characters is GAY!", that my friend is a huge step. It's not just the fact of LeFou being gay (Which is actually adds *so much* more depth to his character other than just being a dumb, funny sidekick to Gaston) ,it's just the fact that society is becoming more accepting.

Devastatingly, Disney pulled Beauty and the Beast from my country because the censorship board wanted the Gaston song cut "because it's too gay". Props to Disney for refusing to exclude gays for the sake of sales. However, couldn't the director had waited til AFTER the release to announce the gay character? Them morons at the censorship board would never had noticed otherwise. *cries*
Ella I agree. There's a theory that Gaston is gay, but at that time being gay was frowned upon. Gaston wouldn't have been able to be open about this, so he just decided to pick the prettiest girl and settle with her. Personally, I believe that theory, and I think he might have been attracted to LeFou. I like the idea of Disney having a gay couple.
