How do you overcome daily obstacles? For example, i wake up every morning at 3 am so I can do my practice before work, since I can't guarantee I will have time later. If I feel tired or sleep through my alarm, I end up telling myself I will get it inlater then I end up skipping the day. Im in YTT right now, but its online, and im having a hard time with a husband, 4 kids, a full time job that pays well yet I hate it...I just find myself hitting a wall no matter what way I turn. Any advice? I live in the middle of nowhere so my days are 1/5 driving also. I just feel like when I finally finish ytt I am afraid of feeling like a fraud because I didnt commit my daily practicing as I could have and the online aspect makes me feel like I didnt earn what others did in person. I've been doing this self taught forabout 6 years.

Thank you for sharing your journey. My daughter suggested I try yoga to help me with my heart failure recovery. Sadly my daughter died from an undetected heart problem, at the age of 24, a month after I started practicing. I never got to practice with her but she is with me every time I step onto her mat. Tomorrow I will be a five year heart failure survivor and yoga is an important part of my life and now as a teacher I can help others discover the wonderful gift of yoga. Cheers

Had never even thought about doing yoga. Found this Journey Junkie website years ago whilst googling How to Make a Dreamcatcher. Found you. Found yoga. Signed up for your first paid course the BMS Detox in 2017. Got a beautiful mala with a handwritten note from you for registering. Freaked out to realize you were a real person. Gained the confidence to go to a studio in my hometown. My first in person class at home was also a Bikram class (on a Groupon :)). Joined you on retreat in Bali in 2019 at one of the lowest points in my life. Came home a different person. Yoga (& you) have seen me through soooo much. So thankful

Hi Allie. I’ve been practicing yoga for the last 25 years. For me it’s been like an old friend. Don’t see them all the time but when you do it feels great. I. came to yoga through a Rodney Yee video (on VHS ...dating myself here lol) I completed my YTT 200 hour in 2017 and have never looked back. You truly inspire me. I am hoping to find the courage within to branch out and take the risk on my own. Have some work to do still...it’s a journey. You are truly authentic and your words speak directly to my soul. Not by chance that I tuned into this video. Thank you 🙏.

I started doing yoga many years ago at a beginners class and loved it but found it hard to get to classes all the time. Fast forward a few years and I was introduced to you tube!!! At first I did it just sporadically…but a few years ago Nov 2017 to be exact, I decided to try and do yoga every day. And besides the time I had pneumonia and didn’t do yoga for about a week…I have sone some sort of yoga every single day! I love it so much and it is so ingrained in me now that if I don’t have time to do it in the morning (which is rare because I make the time)… I feel like my day is not right until I complete my practice. My family are very supportive (as are my pets), so much so, that my kids know that on Christmas Day the fun does not begin before Mum has done her yoga. It is because of wonderful teachers like you who are there for me everyday on you tube that I am able to do this, and it has truely changed my life. I feel I can focus a lot more and let go of the little things which used to totally annoy me a lot more easily. I’m sure I am a much happier person to be around, and I feel like I am doing the right thing by my body by staying active every day.

Allie . . .I love you! My first Yoga Journey was very similar. It was 12 years ago I found Kurt Johnson and he did yoga sessions for example just on headaches or PMS, anxiety, very ailment specific. I also was partying so much. I don't even know how I was functioning. I tried it and I felt immediately cleansed. I've been practicing on and off ever since.
As it stand right now I imagine the consistency of the actual movements on the mat vs thinking about it. My body is not feeling good right now just do to more consistent patterns of inactivity as I build my business vs patterns of activity.
    😊

When I was 22 and pregnant with our first daughter, I started doing Rodney Yee yoga for back care - for obvious reasons! Prior to that I was busting my ass trying to do the “skinny things“ like running 5 miles a day, fitting into a size 4, eating a lot of lettuce, and being all the things the fitness magazines said we should be. A perfectionist, people pleasing, scarcity mindset gal. After turning 38 in May, I am joyful to say that I am 💯 comfortable with a size 10 after two children, do NOT run 5 miles a day, do NOT bust my ass pleasing or looking like what others may want me to. Instead I DO practice yoga in all of its glorious forms - asana, meditation, nidra, pranayama, Ayurveda and stay tapped into nature as well as the heart by growing our own food, gardening, hiking, giving away flowers, utilizing the tools of compassion and abundance mindsets. Perfectly imperfectly of course and I’m Totally cool with it being that way thanks to this almost 2 decades long practice!! Game changer!!! No … LIFE changer!

I do yoga at morning and it changed my life before that it was very difficult for me to sit down on the floor and stand up . My joints were stiffened and now I can do all yoga asanas even that yogi squats. I'm 53 years old and feel good by yoga. Then I found you and other people like Sarah beth , Dr. Mellisa west , kassandra and Adriene . I love to do yoga with all of you. I always like your boat and yoga. Stay happy and safe.

I started yoga in high school, 18 years ago. I have been doing it regularly ever since, despite several years of 60-80 hour work weeks in the past. It helped me through the stress of medical school, residency, my husband's year-long Iraq deployment, my own near-fatal childbirth, my daughter's 2 month NICU stay and subsequent year of health issues. I know I would be a worse person without it. It grounds and centers me and helps me to remain grateful and present.

My first class happened because a neighbor gave me a pass to a local gym which so happened was across the street. I stepped into my first Ashtanga yoga class, clueless, stiff and I hated it. I hated it because I didn’t like the fact that I knew my body or so I thought, my instructor however kept telling me not yet your not ready. Oh the start of my yoga journey. I have always been active but yoga transformed not just my body but my attitude towards life. Long story short, fast forward a few years, I took a teacher training course from the instructor! Ashtanga has been a spiritual as well a physical discipleship.

so crazy!!! Yes I first discovered yoga when I was 21, 5 months pregnancy and..I really couldn´t understand none of it!! I¨ve always practiced different physical activities and couldnt see the point of some asanas, keeping there in some confusing stillness... so i took 2 classes and gave up...20 years later...yes, I started yoga again, and now the experience was absolutely different, I kind of started falling in love with it...then I did my first trip to India, continued practising yoga, then I got even more passionate about it, then second trip to india, I did TTC on Yin Yoga and came back and remodelled my house to start with my own yoga studio...and here I am!! i´m still going through a transition, in the morning i keep on working at school, but the idea is to give up and devote myself entirely to yoga and maybe chi kung since I´m studying Chinese medicine and Chi kung...Waiting to come back to india to continue going deeper!!! and of course I do love practicing with you!!! My first yoga class a friend led me in in a hot upstairs empty unfinished employee apartment on a private island in Panama, just us two, trying to tend our bodies. Anticipating gentle flexibility-focused stretches, I found my friend kicking my ass with unknown strength, grace and calm, poise and intensity, and peaceful presence. I finished our hour or so panting and awakened to the hidden capacity in whatever we might overlook pursuing hurried lifestyles.
