I cannot thank you enough for posting this. I worked on cars decades ago, and did not think much about it. (1970's and early 80's) but now, even with the 2003 Jetta, I was nervous. My #5 went out (I have a BlueDriver OBD unit to let me know what was wrong) and was able to replace it for about 1/4th of what the dealer wanted.
Sorry I am so late to this review. I like that you used a set of pliers to gently pull the coil packs out. Yes, being gentle is paramount. I foolishly bought the special VW coil pack puller tool and it only works on three of the coil packs. On the other three coil packs, you cannot get the feet of the tool down under the coil pack connector body because the intake manifold blocks the tool.
Thank you . I just did mine exactly how you did it .. everything went as planned except for cylinder 4 which the sleeve of the coil was broken and I had to pick it out . Thanks again .. I have an 08 R32
Love architects playing in the background

any idea how to change leads if plugs and coils arnt your problem ethan?
what 24v vr6 came with wires and coil packs??? as far as I know this is a 12v vr6
All 24v have coil on plug... 12v have coil pack with plug wires. Very easy to tell apart.
What air intake?
Any tip on how to get the bottom half of the coil pack out? My shit came apart when I was trying to replace them
Andrew Gera most people screw in a long wood screw and then pull out with pliers by pulling on the head of the screw
@@2ZERO8 I appreciate it. Turns out coil packs and plugs wasn't my problem. Still getting a miss unfortunately lol
