You only need to remove the engine pulley. Once that is loose, all the belts can easily be removed and replaced with all the other pulleys still in place. The idler pulleys are spring loaded and provide plenty of room to route the belts. There is also plenty of room behind the variable speed pulley (between the pulley and the frame) to route the belts as well without its removal. Also, banging on the main engine pulley with a hammer is not acceptable. Use a rubber mallet if the pulley is stuck on the shaft and before you reinstall the engine pulley on the shaft, coat the shaft with some bearing grease to prevent it getting stuck in the future.

I know I'm late to the rodeo here but I have a question, if I'm without the underseat bagger in the 1st place, is the middle of the deck a better spot for my battery than scrunched up against the motor?

You could do that. Otherwise you need a motorcycle battery to fit between the engine and the frame

@@jeffslawnmowerrepairandservice Where can I order the belts from for the Red DRM 500? It looks like the Sears Parts Direct has them, but I am only seeing the ground drive belt and the blade drive belt on their site.

I think the 8 hp yard bugs top out at 1.6mph. I'm not positive, but I believe I seen that on the cub cadet website.

Mine moves pretty slow too. They're not intended to go the same speed as the bigger mowers with multiple speeds
