congrats and wish you all the best in life! I'm really interested in becoming an architect in the future (insha'Allah) and was wondering, are there any things that i need to do in highschool before going into university? (like how you mentioned in another video: local internships/shadowing)
I am so thrilled to announce that I am among the 5 winners of The RIBA Wren Insurance Association Scholarships. If you had told me when I first started architecture, that I would win a scholarship for this field that I knew nothing about, I would not have believed you! Hard work and dedication will always pay off. No matter where you have started, or where you are now, dreams do come true. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF! I hope to share more happy news with you in the future, and that you are also experiencing joy in your lives.
Which should it be hard for a woman to be architect? I am Urban Designer myself and I think nearly half of my time in university I was surrounded by lots of women - students and professors. Some of them Muslim students and some of them really talented. I would advice you to look whether your work is forced under political ideologies, which is a common trend these days in many things. In my work, I try to keep it out. I plan for humans and not for politics, so I refuse to implement political ideologies in my work.
I am glad that you had a good experience but for a lot of women in engineering, that is not true. It has gotten better over the years but there is still a lot of progress to be made. That is alright! You do you, and I will do me.
@@SurvivingArchitecture Engineering is not the typical women choice for a job. Except for the arts like architecture, where the number of women is higher. So, of course the competition to men is greater. I do not see a problem with that. If a women is a better architect than a man, she gets the job. Right. I just wanted to inspire you to look over the edge of things. We have enough "world improver", which do more harm than good, especially in architecture. It is not our duty to tell people how they should live. I personally am a strong advocate of market based social development and not one sided political dictates. As urban designer and planer I always have to remind the architects, that a city is not their personal exibition to profile themselfs but that they have to serve first the quality of the urban space and its structure and harmony. Not so much by experimentation but by respect for urban quality and what is historical and not what should be progressively. The balance is the key between what is and what can be and a building has to have not only an architectural quality but also an urban quality as part of a whole called "city".
